On Q Smokehouse Grill

I have driven by this place so many times and never noticed it. I found a coupon on Groupon so we decided to try it. First of all I don’t eat red meat so usually the only thing I can’t eat at a BBQ place is chicken. This place has turkey ribs so I had to try it… I don’t know how they do it but let me just say the turkey ribs are AMAZING!!!
So after the amazing dinner we decided to try the dessert. I really wanted to try the strawberry shortcake but once she mentioned the chocolate cake I couldn’t say no. Well this was a good choice. The cake comes warm and it is so soft and moist with little dollops of whipped cream all around the plate.
We will definitely be regulars at this place from now on and the shocking thing is it isn’t even crowded at all so no lines or waiting. This will be our little secret.

I have been driving by this place for three years and finally had an opportunity to stop in with my husband. Wow! We both had pulled pork sandwiches and they were the leanest we’ve ever had! He had regular fries but I got the sweet potato fries. They were like having dessert! The service was great and the building was a frat house for a St. Leo fraternity back in the 1970s. I bet it was also a speak-​easy during the prohibition, too! I will be getting takeout from there on the regular once school starts in August!

Best barbecue I’ve had! Highly recommend the turkey ribs. Service and prices are fantastic, we will definitely come again. Thanks for a great experience!

Food was great had the. Ribs and husband had the had a cheese burger waitress was spot on. She is right there to refill my tea. Always a pleasure to come in

Not a good night at all tonight. The slowest service ever. Waitress said they were down to 2 servers and had a new cook. Waiting overall an hour now for BarBQ that I know is not still cooking. Epic fail tonight. I wouldn’t be so negative if they were busy, but there are like 5 tables.

Love this place! We have been there many times and never once been disappointed. They have a choice of lots of sides, all of them are great! The entrees and sandwiches are amazing.

Got the pulled pork sandwich and potato salad. I can’t wait to go back and get the same thing. It was so good. The others in my group got the tacos and they all loved them.

The worst food I have ever had. I ordered a Togo order and it took 45 minutes, ordered a kids grilled cheese and the cheese wasn’t even melted. Ordered a BLT and it was made with microwaved bacon, Untoasted bread, lettuce and tomato and no mayo, appetizer sampler breaded was raw/​uncooked. The only edible thing we received was a brisket sandwich. We were told that the cook walked out but really you should stop serving food if that is the case, I should have saved my 40.00 and went to McDonalds.

We brought a Groupon for this place since we haven’t been there yet and have been wanting to try it. I’m glad we took the chance. Absolutely one of the best BBQ places I have been to!!!
The food was excellent and the staff was attentive and real friendly. The atmosphere has a family country feel.
We had the 1 lb. brisket with sides and shared. They serve a good helping. The brisket is tasty, tender and the wings are rocking.
Just visited a second time and everything we ate was outstanding! The turkey ribs and the strawberry shortcake dessert are to die for!!!

What a great place want to try real great food the only reason I did not give it 5 stars is the atmosphere inside is strange but outside is good. The fried green tomatoes are the best I have ever had and get the pick 3 combo beef brisket, pulled pork and the sausage was awesome. The sides to get are the mac and cheese and the cole slaw was awesome beans to die for. So worth the ride great service and reasonable rices too

The burger is awesome! The food I KNOW is fresh and they cook the food to the best of their ability. I always get their burger because it has that perfect grill taste to it. Unfortunately on Some nights it gets very crowded and it’s understaffed so make sure you go on the right days.

I must say I can’t stop coming back to this great place for some of the tastiest BBQ in all of Pasco County. The entire experiance is awesome right from the start. We always bring our four legged child with us and the staff and owner are always more than welcoming and accommodating. In fact we always keep and eye out for our favorite waitress Danielle who always goes above and beyond to make our meal and time spent there great. As for the Bbq what can I say but the rib tips are my fav and if your up to it try them Jerk style you will thank me later. My wife always orders the always tasty turkey wings which are always fall apart ender. If your up for some great BBQ and service make sure and check out On Q you won’t go wrong…

I went there and we were on bikes. The smell was amazing. The actual bbq wasn’t. The service was slow that got blamed on a «new cook».

Stopped by after golf. Awesome service, rib tips on special, jerk tips were great, baked beans were the best!

Try the Turkey ribs? Yeah I tried tried the turkey ribs. I thought they were great! Juicy, flavor is good and portion is good size.
Sides were good, sweet potato fries, thin and crisp. Cole slaw was said to be «homemade» I agree, not standard issue bagged slaw.
Prices are fair, place is clean and staff was friendly and attentive.

This review is from almost exactly 1.5 years ago I had as a saved document on my desktop. I think I intended to add more to it but never got to it and now 1.5 years later of course I don’t remember so I’ll just post as-​is:
‘The waitress was very nice with great service, but the food just wasn’t very good. I’ve passed by the establishment several times and had been wanting to treat myself to some good BBQ and I’ve also read some good reviews on Unilocal.One day, I received a groupon email that listed ON Q and a coworker looking over my shoulder seemed to strongly recommend it. I decided to purchase a groupon and give it a shot, but sadly I was disappointed. My boyfriend and I wanted to try as much as we could on the menu so we got the 3 Combo platter (ribs, pulled pork, & chicken) with 2 sides (potato salad & mac’n cheese) and the spicy crispy chicken sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. And for appetizer we ordered fried okra. All the meats on the platter were dry and lacking in taste; of the three, ribs probably made it out the best. Somehow they went wrong with the mac’n cheese — perhaps old and overcooked because it tasted strange and had a clumpy texture. ‘
Maybe around the 2 year mark I’ll give it a try again.

Ok. Let me start by saying that we went with a soccer team after a nice win. The wait staff was very accommodating our waitress Kenala was great!
The food and selection was very good I had the pulled pork super moist, sweet potato fries smelled and taste delicious, the fried okra allways one of my favorite. I’ll definitely go back.

This place is kind of a cool random place. It’s less a «hole-​in-​the-​wall» and more a «house-​in-​the-​middle-​of-​nowhere». Saint Leo, San Antonio, and Dade City, don’t have a lot to offer, but they make up for it in charm and a few gems – like this place.
The price is right. The BBQ is good. The service is friendly. It’s a little dirty, but most bbq places are. It’s a part of their authentic charm. If you’re driving through and crave bbq, check it out.
I got the fried catfish – solid. Hushpuppies: can’t go wrong. Mac and cheese – decent. Collards, some of the better I’ve tried.

Nearly a year ago I checked in at Dade City Wild Things on Facebook (I live in Southern California) and within seconds a friend texted me and told me I had to try On Q before leaving town. He went to college nearly two decades ago at St Leos and said On Q was one of the better BBQ spots (and the best place to eat in this area). We took his advice.
On Q does impress. In a region where awesome BBQ doesn’t grow on trees this place stands out. It’s a small, affordable spot that takes bride in offering good, consistent BBQ and some wild dishes, like turkey ribs. The turkey ribs are true turkey ribs and the turkey slides off the bone, literally. It’s an odd dish that I haven’t found anywhere else in the country that has this item, and I’ve literally been to 100s of BBQ spots across the country. Try it. Its a unique item that some will love. Others are too freaked out to try it.
The rest of their BBQ is pretty darn good, and we sampled just about all of it. The only drawback is the pulled chicken is too dry. Otherwise, the pulled pork and beef brisket is cooked well and packs flavor. The sides rival the dishes, too. This is a pure BBQ and a secret spot, per say. Many of the locals who worked at Dade City Wild Things didn’t know about it!
