I come here all the time! It’s a great place! I have never found a restaurant that sells better buffalo wings than this place! They are so good and savory that it is hard for me to describe them in words. Also, i greatly appreciate the fact that their salsa is very spicy! Still, it is a tiny place and I would recommend coming before prime time(when it gets extremely crowded)

Cute place! Now, we are from Texas so we know Mexican food. With that said, this place was pretty good. Different but good. The guacamole, chips and salsa were yummy. We each got enchiladas and they were good. BBQ enchiladas — different but good! At least I found enchiladas– which hasn’t been easy on LI. I suggest some queso and some basic cheese enchiladas too. We will be back!

Fantastic lunch, where everyday is «taco Tuesday» Homemade salsa and chips, fresh ingredients, Mexican style with Texas smoke. Never been disappointed…

We stumbled upon Del Fuego while running errands in the area and it was a great find! Moderately priced, great food and drinks, good service. The interior is quite small and we elected to sit at the bar. The bartender was casual but attentive throughout our visit. The traditional guacamole was fresh and the house-made chips were tasty, albeit a bit over salted. We ordered an array of tacos — fish, mesquite chicken, beef brisket, pulled pork, and shrimp — with beef brisket and shrimp coming in as our hands down favorites. Portion sizes were good and we were full before finishing everything on our plates. Margaritas were on point, as was the tequila selection, and the tap beer was cold and clean. We hung around for a few rounds and watched football.

We have been hearing whispers of a little Tex-Mex place in St. James that was a «must try». Tonight we tried and I have to say this little obscure storefront blew me away. Full of atmosphere and a delightfully pleasant staff, Del Fuego did not disappoint. The spicy salsa that comes with the complimentary chips is amazing(we had two bowls). Loved loved loved the fried pulled pork wontons and the grilled shrimp fajita was loaded with hunks of shrimp. If you are looking for a cool little place on Long Island that serves up a stunning margarita, fresh and delicious food and won’t break your bank– this is the place.

I came here yesterday afternoon after been wanting to try this Tex-Mex Restaurant for quite sometime from being told this place is the bomb, so I made it in time for the special in which I had a chicken burrito and a Modelo, which was very good the food came out extremely fast something I haven’t seen in a long long time 5 stars on that, Gina the waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable greeted me as soon as I sat down and that was also a 5 star for sure, the only thing I couldn’t quite get was the cinnamon taste in the burrito but other then that everything was good, I’ll def be back.

Had lunch with my colleagues here and it was a place I wanted to try out. They’re described to be a tex-mex place which I don’t usually eat as often. since I was there for lunch I just stuck with tacos as my choice of food. I got the fish, pulled pork and brisket tacos. They give a large proportion for the filling. I’m glad it was worth the price. I wasn’t a fan of the fish taco due to the type of fish they used, but the rest was good overall. I’m definitely going to visit again since a colleague got the quesadilla and the proportion size for that was huge and well worth the price.

Was in town from Baltimore and LOVED it. May have to go back to Long Island just to go to this restaurant. Chimichanga was huge. Shrimp quesadillas were amazing. But perhaps my simplest favorite was there salsa and chips. I couldn’t stop.

I ordered a burrito. It was good and big. I didn’t eat in the restaurant but the take out was quick. I didn’t care too much for the burrito though. It was covered in some kind of sauce.

Went there for the first time on Saturday night. It was busy, but the staff, while perhaps a little disorganized were very good and attentive, especially considering how busy it was. I ordered a margarita, and it was fairly small and pretty weak, but at least the chips and salsa were good. Our meals arrived and while they were not bad, they were just not hot. The cheese was melted, but the inside of the enchiladas was not very hot. slightly above room temperature. Weak margarita and barely warm food: that’ll get you three stars only because the staff was nice. Otherwise, it would have been two.

I ordered the burger, which I intuitively knew was a bad idea, its a tex-mex place for Gods sake. Anyway the burger was bad, the bread was stale, the meat was dry and flavorless. I barely touched it, my friend let me have a sample of her mushroom quesadilla, it was delicious though greasy, but yummy none the less. The service and ambience was decent, I think I’d give it another chance, and order something more appropriate.

It’s Mexican food… being made in New York. Oh gawd… Well hopefully you aren’t from California or Texas and been spoiled with delicious California burritos and fish tacos. Because you ain’t gonna find that here. This is about as bland/average as it gets for Mexican food. I just eat here to tell myself that I’m not boycotting tex-mex food. Their salsas are lackluster which is inexcusable especially when the name of the restaurant is in Spanish. If there’s one thing I know, it’s that any decent Mexican place at the very least puts out good salsa. Yeah this one isn’t one of them.

Del Fuego has long been a favorite of mine. I started going there when it first opened, and since then, they’ve made a living off of serving consistent food with good deals. Service is nice at the beginning, but since it’s mostly student waiters/waitresses, it’s sometimes unprofessional or they don’t pay attention to you as much as they should be. I’m not actually a fan of how the table is set up either. The napkin to me is weird, and the wide laminated menu combined with the dark old/dirty looking table makes it kind of suspect when you’re eating and sauce drips. However, they always bring you chips and salsa. I don’t know where the salsa is from, but it’s definitely not standard, and it’s one of the best salsas I’ve ever had. I’m guilty of coming here and ordering one taco just to enjoy the free chips and salsa before. Sadly though, I’ve had more than one visit recently where the chips feel kind of stale. If you look at their menu, their standard prices are actually pretty steep, but they offer specials every single day and for lunch, which is the only time I’d recommend going. Having said that, I think it’s clear to me that their food isn’t good enough to warrant their list prices. But, with the frequency that they do deals(Taco Tuesdays, half-off wings on Wednesdays, as well as lunch specials), chances are you’ll find something for a great price. With the tacos, I would recommend getting the brisket or ground beef. I’m not a big fan of the cabbage slaw that comes with the fish and pulled pork ones. For wings, I would say Mango BBQ is my favorite, and I’m not big on BBQ flavors so that’s saying something. The buffalo is acceptable, and Chipotle Honey is also decent if you’re into chipotle flavors. Having had the Habanero Lime, I don’t think the two flavors are balanced enough for it to taste that great. El Diablo is HOT. Like, 3 – 4 peppers. Other than that, the burritos are solid. The fries are as well. I like that they offer Mexican sodas. The quesadillas aren’t bad either, but anything after that is pushing it with the price. The fact that guacamole starts at $ 9 when discounted tacos are $ 2.50 bewilders me sometimes. At this point in time, Del Fuego has become a ridiculous hotspot in our small local town. Every night it fills up, and its bar has become a really popular place – a little less hopeless feeling than some of the other local bars. Expect a wait if you come here at night. I should note that since it’s been getting more popular, food quality has been decreasing slightly(in the past I would have given this 5 stars), and service is dropping rather quickly. I don’t expect a water refill more than once anymore, which really saddens me.

Went to visit a good friend of mine that lives in St. James and she recommended this place. I was craving nachos and these didn’t disappoint. The servers were extremely young but so, so nice and attentavie; I was surprised in the best way. Margarita was also good. I had mango and my friend had strawberry. Not the best mexican I’ve had, but good for fried, greasy, mexican!

We were visiting the area and came here tonight for dinner based on the positive Unilocal reviews. Our experience was not what we were hoping it would be. Food: Decent. My wife said her pork tacos were good and my mother-in-law said her wrap was pretty good as well. My chimichanga was not good. It was not fried, at least not in hot enough oil. It came out soggy and smothered with way too much melted cheese, and I’m never one to complain about too much cheese. Service: Bad. Real bad. We were sitting for almost 10 minutes before a waiter arrived. He took our drink and appetizer order. 10 minutes later he came back(empty handed) to take our dinner order. Both our appetizer and our dinner arrived before our drinks. Later, as we were finishing dinner, we ordered three more beers. It took them over 10 minutes to arrive. Meanwhile, the bartender(white female, crimped shoulder-length blond hair) wiped down the bar, had a conversation with a waitress, took a phone call, and had a drink with another employee(darker-skinned white male with beard, maybe a manager) behind the bar, all of which was apparently way more important than pouring three beers. Our waiter was plenty friendly and attentive, but the horrible barkeeping ruined it. I wanted to like this place, but it left a very bad taste in my mouth, both figuratively and literally.

Had the $ 83 taco and soft drink lunch special. I wanted to see what this place was all about so I tried the pulled pork, brisket, and chicken(2 crunch corn shell 1 soft corn shell). I was blown away by the flavor of the pulled pork as well as the brisket! They put together an excellent combination of sauce and toppings for each meat. I had low expectations with the chicken, but again, was pleasantly surprised by the juiciness and flavor. For $ 8, it’s hard to find a meal this good and filling, esp tex mex. Will definitely be back again soon!

Me walking into a restaurant, for the owners can either be a gift or a curse. If your restaurant is great I’ll sing your praises from the mountain tops. If not? I’m gonna call you out on your sh*t, plain and simple. In Del Fuego’s case it’s the latter of the two. Don’t get me wrong it has potential but from a technical standpoint too many flaws for my taste. Here are some of the highlights and lowlights of my experience at Del Fuego: So I came here with a buddy of mine at 8:30 on a Monday night. The place was empty but I chalked it up to being the beginning of the week and somewhat near closing time. Sat down and they brought out complimentary chips and salsa. Then we proceeded to order. We ordered family style so that way we could sample what the place had to offer. And so it began… Del Fuego Salad with Seared Ahi Tuna: when the salad hit the table I got a waft of fishiness coming from the salad which I think meant the fish was borderline bad, it was edible but not completely fresh. The jicama and mango had a «rustic» cut not the julienne that I was expecting. Overall the word lackluster kept popping up in my head as I was eating it. Santa Veracruz Pan Seared Snapper: It sounded good on paper, it was decent. But nothing to write home about. The snapper was very fresh and the accompanying rice was good. The dish was just kinda one note for me. Surf and Turf Fajitas: I ordered it medium rare and it came more on the well done side. Now I’m not gonna be a pain in the ass and send it back. I just end up Unilocaling about it later. It came with all the fixings; guacamole, pico Di Gallo, shredded cheese, sour cream, rice, black beans and hot fresh flour tortillas. Definitely the best choice of the night. Here’s what irked me throughout the night. Even though we were the only ones in the place, service was practically non-existent. I don’t expect you to suck my ass when I come in, just basic necessities would be nice. I had to ask for our waters to be filled, they let our plates pile up on the table without clearing before we had our other courses. We had to ask for sharing plates even though I told the waiter we’d be sharing everything. And when it came time to pay the bill our waiter was nowhere to be found so, finally I had to walk up to the register to pay our bill. Again just basic necessities. I don’t think that’s really asking to much And the nail in the coffin was. Towards the end of the night a customer had called in to complain and as soon as they hung up the phone the staff started badmouthing the customer within earshot of us and i felt awkward that I had to witness that. Makes me think to myself, «I wonder what they’re gonna say about me after I leave?» A note to the owner, you probably shouldn’t be allowing this. Just bad juju for business. Will I be back? Most likely not. Too many other great places in the area. I tend to not settle for mediocre.

This is easily the best Mexican restaurant I’ve been to in this area. I went here for dinner with some friends and it was an awesome experience! First, you start off with complimentary chips and salsa, which although is customary for most Mexican restaurants, the quality here was atypically great. The salsa was perfect: a bold flavor, a heat level in-between medium and hot and a smooth, yet somewhat chunky consistency. And, the chips were ideal as they were light and not salty at all. Be careful not to have too many and fill up on them as I did… I had the a great skirt steak burrito for my main dish. It had great presentation, which in my experience is unusual for a burrito. The burriot itself had an excellent balance among its ingredients: rice, black beans, cheddar Jack cheese, guacamole, pico de gallo and Mexican crema. I hate when I order burritos from restaurants and the ingredients are unbalanced, so that all of the cheese in one section while guacamole or beans are completely in another. Thankfully this was not the case here! The steak itself was juicy and cooked-well while the other ingredients were all tasty and fresh. A really nice touch to the burrito was the unique side fuego salad that came with it. It was really good, with a nice light citrus vinaigrette as well as fresh mango and pumpkin seeds. It was refreshing and served well to clear the palate in-between bites of the burrito. I also got to taste my friend’s meal, the carne special. The steak was amazing, had great flavor and went perfectly with its crema sauce. And, the sweet potato fries may have been some of the best I’ve ever had: a crispy exterior with lots of sweet potato inside. My one small complaint(if you could even call it that) was that the guacamole was very good, but it wasn’t at the same caliber as the rest of the meal. A more killer guacamole and this place would be flawless! Definitely a must try when you’re in the mood for some Mexican food!
