Such a great little gem. Walked over there from my condo and it was Tuesday taco night! 1 $ tacos!!! And 2 $ beers and rails. Service and staff were great! They have many other great specials as well. Wednesday 1 $ sloppy joes. Friday fish fry. Will definitely go back!

In my many visits to this establishment I’ve learned several things. The owner does flexible pricing if you run a tab. He’s developed a horrible reputation in the area for trying to scam people on their bar bill. Very few bartenders here can make more than one drink at a time and the owners the worst offender. If you’re lucky enough to have a bartender that can pour more than one drink at a time they won’t last long because the owner can’t scan them out of their tip money. And it doesn’t matter if it’s your anniversary, your birthday, you’ve spent hundreds or thousands of dollars at this place or whatever the special occasion, the owners Philosophy is and I quote,” if you think you need a free drink then Berts Bar is not the place for you!” I will not return to this place until I hear it’s under new ownership.

A good bar with a great view! 3.5 stars only because I wasn’t here long enough to really take this place in. I’ve driven past this bar just about every day of my adult life and finally stopped for a «fuel stop» while out on a bike ride. They have a beautiful deck and one of those«beasties» statues you see around town, very cool. The interior of the bar is very small but tidy. I’m guessing most of the patrons here live within stumbling distance. The bathroom was very clean and not«bar like» at all. We were only here for a quick beer and a Sloppy Joe. The bartender(maybe it was Bert?) was very friendly and offered us samples of several brews. Since we were in St. Francis, many of their options were of the very local variety. We enjoyed a few bottles of St. Francis Brewery varieties. I really feel bad for never stopping in here before. I hope to get back here again soon to get to know this place better!

We stopped-in for a quick beverage while out on a bike ride(South Shore trail) on 5÷24÷14. Arrived around 4:30pm. + Very new feeling; everything was clean and in great condition + Very large bar; plenty of comfortable seating + Friendly, accommodating bartender + Fairly pedestrian selection of taps; looked like they had nicer bottle selection + Bartender obliged request for a «tiny» pour of Guinness + Patrons were fun and engaging + Has a few televisions, none of which are obnoxious in their placement; you could watch a little bit here and there without them being in your face/loud. + Massive selection of quality liquors, including Don Julio 1942 tequila(yay!)

Thought I’d give it a whirl since I do enjoy Berts Liquor over on Oklahoma. Seemed like a nice enough place, good beer and a nice upfront beer garden. Food was ridiculously bad. There are better options for a burger and pint of ale.

Very enjoyable place. About a year old Bert”/ was opened by the people who own Bert’s liquor store on Oklahoma near the lakefront. This bar is great. As I walked in I recognized a gentleman n from the liquor store who immediately greeted me. The beer was cold and they had a nice tap selection and wine selection as you would imagine. The bar has a front deck and the lake is just across the street. Great hangout. Inside the staff was attentive and friendly. There was a birthday party for an adult going on a table away. The bar is pretty large and was mostly full. The place is clean and sort of summery sprung feeling. Ample off street parking. I will go back.

Mixed bag of experiences here. Kind of depends on the bartender I guess. I got pretty annoyed with this super young, inexperienced bartender the other night. On the other hand, this other bartender was super to me. The crowd is older, but there to have some fun and generally good. Decent beer selection, limited wine selection — not sure about the food… yet! I want to like them more, and maybe I will when the weather(finally) turns warmer and I can get out on the patio…

I came here for the first time without expectations and not planning on eating. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Paul and Carol, the owners/bartenders/servers… everything! The food menu was limited, however it is more of a bar than a restaurant. We ordered the nachos that were typical of bar nachos. An elderly couple sitting beside us ordered the fish fry and ranted and raved about it the entire time. They also thoroughly enjoyed their soup. Although I wasn’t drinking wine on this visit I asked to look at their wine list. It is VERY extensive and reasonable. Wine for me next visit! It is a very comfortable place with fantastic atmosphere thanks to the owners!

Normally, I limit myself to reviewing dining establishments. Not necessarily fine dining spots, but places I like to go that have something interesting, unique and/or tasty that I enjoy eating. Bert’s dining menu offers none of that. The menu is very limited to just a couple of bar food items. However, the interesting bar with its’ lakefront view, beer garden and extensive wine by the glass offerings will entice me to make a warm weather return trip at which time I am hoping for some menu additions that could make Bert’s a unique St Francis gastropub addition.
