I eat here once a week for lunch. It is amazing. I love the food and the service. The STL roll is my favorite, and I am always switching up what I order since it’s all so good. I would definitely recommend.

Great sushi. A lot of choices on what and how much to order. Eel and American rolls were best. Great service

I’ve eaten at Sushi Ai over the past few years, since its opening… and in my opinion, it’s quality been slowly declining. After my visit last week, I can easily say that I will NEVER be returning. I went in to order carry out, the dining room was less than ½ full and the service was very slow. After waiting nearly 20 minutes to order, I waited 45 minutes for 4 rolls & a fried rice. While sitting at the bar awaiting my order, I began to notice the poor quality of cleanliness… And then the fish tank… Which had at least 5 dead fish floating & being eaten by the other fish. I took the food home & immediately noticed the sub par quality of the sushi. We ate about ½ and while some was ok… My boyfriend & I both decided it was probably not wise to finish the meal. Ironically the last piece of sushi that I’d planned to eat tasted like it had been submerged in their fish tank…& I threw up. My boyfriend also became ill later that night. Sushi Ai used to be a decently priced place to get decent sushi… So unfortunate that this restaurant has declined so…

I go here almost once a week for the all you can eat sushi. Reasonably priced and large selection. I moved here from Los Angeles where sushi is prolific and high quality. Though it may not measure up to the best sushi I’ve ever eaten, it still is really good! Great now I’m hungry for sushi.

I read the reviews on Unilocal when I got in St. Louis airport around 8pm and was craving good sushi. I travel to a different state almost every week and live by Unilocal reviews. I got into restaurant around 8:45pm was busy for as late as it was here. I was NOT disappointed! I order the spider and spicy tuna roll they were some of the best I have had in a while! Please don’t miss this place!

I think this is one of the best AYCE lunch specials around! It’s a great deal and the quality of sushi is well worth the price. You don’t get to choose everything off of their normal menu, but the variety is good enough and you will definitely leave happy and full after AYCE here.

Excellent road trip sushi. Had the vegetarian party tray and served a family of four quite well.

Very friendly staff and great sushi. The restaurant itself is a bit small with only 2 – 3 tables that can accommodate more than 4 people. I have only gotten the sushi here so I cannot speak to the rest of their menu, but the sushi is some of the best I have had in St Louis. The pricing is also very reasonable compared to other sushi restaurants.

It was a good place to eat. The rolls we’re perfectly made and seasoned. The environment was peaceful and relaxing. Even had some Japanese Pop music on… which my Boyfriend started dancing to lol bobbing his head to the beats. Over all it’s a great place to eat especially if you split One(19.99 dinner). That one dinner special can feed for 2 unless your really hungry.

My boyfriend and I are somewhat frequent regulars at this location. The fish is fresh, the raw and the more Americanized sushi are delicious, the service is excellent and the wait staff is very friendly and pleasant. Their sushi is very reasonably priced. They have an awesome all you can eat sushi for $ 20, which is great for discovering new foods. They have delicious Mai Tais and I am a fan of the apple sake. It’s hard to select which rolls I like the best since there are so many delicious raw and Americanized rolls. If you’re a raw fish fan, have the squid sashimi, the red snapper sashimi and the masago! If you like sweeter, more Americanized rolls, try the St. Louis Roll or the Honey Roll. I also love the Jalapeño Roll, The Rock and Roll, The Giant Eel Roll, The Volcano Roll, and the Maryland Roll. I love a lot more, but those are some of my choice favorites and I can honestly say I’ve never had any sushi from them that wasn’t good. It’s nice that you see their sushi preparers(for the Japanophiles, that’s Itamae to you) are right up front and you can see them making fresh food. You know they’re making it fresh and they aren’t serving you old fish. Freshness and attention to detail are what make good sushi stand apart from bad quality sushi.

Ok at best; not sure why all the really good reveiws. Fish food on teh sushi counter; very overworked and unhappy sushi chef. Food was just ok; paper thin slices of fish on top of rice teh size of your thumb. I did not want the AYCE and they slice it all that way. There has to be better here!

Without a doubt, one of the best sushi bars around when it comes to pure VALUE! There’s no doubt that they’re not the best when it comes to quality, but it’s hard to pass up they’re affordable prices! The restaurant is well maintained with little signs of filth to the naked eye. Great service and would recommend it to any sushi lover on a budget!

Oh Man! This is my new«go-to» for sushi now! Went for dinner with a friend on a Monday night. Atmosphere was very comfortable and the bamboo walls give it personality. There is an option for AYCE rolls for $ 19.99. I would suggest not eating for two days prior and going with a larger group for that though, that way everyone can get a taste for a bunch of different ones. I believe there is a penalty for over-ordering though so you can only order what you can eat. For the two of us, we just ordered three rolls. The general spicy tuna had just enough kick to make it comfortable and was really tasty. There were two other rolls, the Crazy Spicy Crab Roll and the Popup roll. Both were absolutely amazing and the prices are super reasonable and not overpriced. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Dined there twice within a week. AYCE lunch was a 4-star experience but AYCE dinner was somewhere in the 2 – 3 star range based on service issues. Lunch was with coworkers. Service was efficient and relatively quick given the complexity associated with 5 people ordering approximately 6 different handmade items each. Everyone’s food arrived at roughly the same time… a feat that would be insurmountable for some STL area sushi places. Inventory turnover has to be pretty high based on how busy they were so no concerns about freshness. As expected, there was plenty of rice used in the nigiri and the rolls were skinny. The oversized amount of cream cheese in rolls that contained it was a little surprising. Everything was good and the place represented a good value for lunch. Dinner was not as similar as I would have expected. They were just as busy but moved a whole lot slower. The fish to rice ratio in the nigiri was more in line with what you would find ordering by the piece at a regular sushi place. The rolls were a little larger than usually found at a regular place which made them quite a bit larger than what was served at lunch. Variety was probably 50% greater but the price was a bit higher as a result. The big screw-up that hosed their rating was the fact that kid 2 was still waiting for her food once we had all finished our initial orders. I had asked several times about her order(shrimp tempura roll and spider roll — nothing complicated) and the waitress told me repeatedly that they were cooking the ingredients and they took a while. Apparently she failed to realize that kid 1’s boyfriend ordered both of those rolls and his plate arrived with everyone else’s food. When the rolls finally arrived the cooked ingredients were cold to the touch. I took the plate up to the counter to discuss with the waitress but she wanted to argue with me. WTF! Fortunately, the manager stepped in and made things right but it was too late to save the experience. Coworkers like the place for lunch so I’m sure I will be back many times. I’m also sure that the chances of dragging the whole family in for dinner again are about nil.
