Close to Cuban Café and Bakery which is inside w/AC. Great food! Plantains, cubanos, medianoche, empanadas. 54 Hypolita St.

The service at this restaurant was very slow and the atmosphere was not the prettiest. That being said, the Cuban sandwich was incredibly tasty! Beans and rice were mediocre. Would visit again for the sandwich.

Worthwhile place for a quick meal! Great low key ambiance, nice staff. Delicious sandwiches, loved both the Cuban and Bistec. Service did take a little bit, so expect to take a few minutes to relax while your food is prepared.

These are the worst empanadas on the planet. Absolutely revolting. How u can be Cuban or Colombian or latino/a and mess up an empanada this bad is riveting. $ 3.50 for that little pocket of soggy mush. Got my 14 yr old a churro and he said«not great». So while that is more like a 2 star endorsement, that they could not even score well on a piece of deep fried dough covered in sugar makes this place a depressing one star hot mess.

I was on the hunt for a Cuban Sandwich and I am SO happy we found this place! It is centrally located and perfectly priced! We ordered a Cuban sandwich and a chicken empanada. They were both great! This was probably the best Cuban sandwich I have ever had in my life, and it was only $ 9. Make sure to stop by.

I stopped at this place for a snack while walking around the historic district. I ordered a café con leche and a guava and cheese pastry which was good, but nothing special. They also had a few other pastries, sandwiches, and flan. Service was very slow.

Good Cuban sand which. They aren’t fast but on a slow day in St. Augustine it was worth the wait. The chicken empanadas were good. I know nothing about Cuban food but I tried several of their offerings and they were good. I wish they would sell loaves of Cuban bread since after all they are a bakery. I give three stars for this reason alone.

Small spot for all Cuban needs. Ordered two Cuban coffees to go. 4 tables inside and a warming station for pre-made goods.

Nice cozy place but expensive. The bread with butter was with a baget instead of Cuban bread which I found odd. Also, it’s pricey. I tired the ham croquets. They were good

Having not eaten in St Augustine for a while I’m always looking for new places to try. Today’s choice was the Cuban Café. So being a cuban restaurant you feel kind of obligated to order the cuban sandwich. We did and needing to wash up before eating I asked where the restroom was? Looking around the place that is maybe 20’x 20′ in all. The restroom was down the hall and across the street. Heck it would have been closer if I would have walked back to the store I’m working at. Our sandwiches came out in little tubs and I will say that they were on the small size. Maybe 5″ long and pressed hard. The bread crust was really hard. There was the right meats onside just not much of it. Ham some pork and mustard swiss cheese and some pickles. The lady behind the counter was not very pleasant and the man making the sandwiches didn’t speak english. Maybe that was a good thing being in a cuban sandwich shop. The dessert looked pretty good and I might try them if I come back in. So I will continue my search for something tasty to eat around st. George street.

My children(10&12) and I popped in here for lunch yesterday. We ordered the roast pork sandwich, beans and rice, beef empanadas, and the homemade flan. The prices were very reasonable and the service was quick. We all tried each other’s food, and everybody loved everything! Not only will we be back, but we would make a special trip from Jacksonville for this food!

So this is a very basic little, off the beaten track, Cuban snack shop. They do not pretend to be anything more! It is a modest and tidy little place with Afro Cuban music playing and solemn, shy yet friendly staff. This is not Miami, so set your expectations accordingly. I had a few croquettes and a media noche sandwich. And they were pretty darn good. I enjoyed my meal and then even had a guava and cheese pastry. In the great state of Florida, Puerto Sagua in South Beach and La Terracita in downtown Tampa are hard to beat. But I think in time, this little place will keep improving. I was satisfied with my meal. I will be back for a coffee and to see what the future holds for this little bit of Cuba in north Florida.

Overrated Taste is OK, not bad! But nothing out of this world. Very slow service for most of the things already being made and the two people there seem to have no sense of urgency or care that line is forming and they take their sweet time. Spent 5 – 10 minutes on line behind 3 customers that only ordered empanadas or croquetas meaning that they were already made. Being such a small place, they should work in trying to get people in and out quicker. Prices are so so. Empanadas 3.50 lots of potato in it to reduce meat stuffing Croquetas 0.99 Cuban 6.95 I would not go back mainly because of the slow service and unfriendlynees in their faces

Great spot for a quick bite. St. Augustine has many wonderful restaurants, but sometimes you are just trying to get a really quick meal before heading to one of the attractions, and this place is perfect for that. Quick-service food with a few tables for chowing down. We had 2 types of empanadas: spinach & cheese and the chicken. Both excellent, as were my ham croquettes. Didn’t try the Cuban Sandwich, but the kids I was with enjoyed their ham & swiss sandwich. Quick, tasty food for a low price. Thanks, Cuban Bakery!

Came here looking for a quick vegetarian option in St Augustine. I tried the spinach and cheese empenada and the black beans and rice. The empenada was so so. Seemed less than fresh. The beans and rice however were very good. If you want a good cuban, get in your car and drive 2 miles to Back 40 Urban Café. Trust me.

I hate to do this but this placed was not worth the 22 dollars we spend. We got a potato ball which was too salty and burnt, the Carne empanada was dry and had no flavor and the steak sandwich was the worst super dry and flavorless! The only thing we enjoyed was the can of coke.

While visiting Historic St. Augustine I found this tiny shop to be the authentic real and cheap deal. The empanadas were on par with what I’ve had at other small Cuban cafés and the papa tellena was outstanding. Everything on the menu is under $ 8 which is great giving the cost of this place.

I am so sorry to do this, but this was just pitiful for me. Maybe it is because I had really high expectations or the fact that I really looked forward to trying this«cuban» bakery, but I left highly disappointed. The Cuban sandwich was not of good quality at all whatsoever. For the price they are asking, there was nothing about their sandwich I was willing to pay. We also tried the empanadas, and they were quite dry. We also tried the sweet version — guava and cheese, and although it was the best thing that we ate from this store, it was still not enough to save the day. For a little over 8 bucks for a below average sandwich, I suggest for you to hoof it somewhere else and pay an extra buck for something that is actually decent.
