Not for everybody, this era 1940, s hotel caters to motorcyclists and outdoor adventurists. Mike and his wife Lynn own and run the place and are very helpful. Mike spent over 2 hours assisting me with a motorcycle maintenance issue — and he bakes a mean pie!

A very charming inn just off the BRP. The owners do seem to treat this place more like a b&b than a hotel, and you can see their hard work. The rooms have hardwood floors, fridges, and wood paneling, and the shared balcony rooms have screen doors and communal chairs to enjoy the superb view. That said, there’s also a lot across the street from the hotel that is a direct overlook and is better for photos and such, and that’s available to all residents. Didn’t have dinner there(we’re vegetarians, and the veggie lasagna X 4 didn’t entice us), but we did have breakfast — Waffle House-style waffle, scrambled eggs(the only option), and bacon(and if you know I didn’t eat it, you passed the reading comprehension test) for $ 6.50. There is a big interest in good beer here, with a tasting menu, and the shop had a lot of quality beverages — I don’t drink any more for health reasons(stupid pancreas!) but quickly noted bottles of Chimay Blue, Rodenbach, and some NC specialties. It’s probably be nice to crack open one of those and sit out on the balcony as the sun does last call. You can also walk to the Museum Of NC Minerals from here if you so choose, but otherwise you’re back in your car if you need anything other than beer. But 226 has some restaurants and gem shops a short distance away, but you know that — you’re reading Unilocal, for goodness sake. Back to the hotel, a beautiful place to stay at a good price while you’re on the BRP. And the icing on the cake, you’re in Little Switzerland, North Carolina, the best-named town in the USA!

I haven’t stayed there in a while. Been staying with my mother when I’m in town now. I would just like to say that a few years back, the hotel had been recently taken over by Mike n Lynn when my father took gravely ill. My whole family came in from everywhere and stayed there. Mike was still doing renovations in parts of the hotel. The family stayed a week or two. Myself, my niece and her husband stayed another two months. I could not have asked for better hosts, and sometimes shoulder. It was an emotional time for me and my high strung bunch. There were times when we weren’t the happiest bunch– because of my Dad’s pending demise. Mike n Lynn and their dogs(pet friendly) were both understanding and accomodating– for a long time. This is not only a review of their business– this is a testimonial to their character. Btw– the food was pretty awesome too. Thanx Y’all– for everything.-

Very well run mountain inn with an incredible view. Comfortable rooms, excellent staff, nice restaurant(try the veggie lasagna), and great bar. Excellent value for the money. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

The location is nice but the other parts of the hotel are bad — Bad mattresses. Both me and my gf woke up with back aches. The mattress had lost its shape. — Squeaky beds. We could hear our 2 room apart guests having sex. The bed was too squeaky. — Bad service. We stayed for 2 days. They didn’t change the sheets while cleaning the room. They just made the bed and skipped on changing the sheets. — Stupid charges. They charged 20% more on our card than expedia rate. And they also charged for 3 days when we stayed only for 2 days. We had to raise a claim with credit card company to get it reversed.

Sleepy little Inn up in the mountains. Reminded me more of a bed and breakfast. The Inn is old and has a lot of history. Even though the Inn is old, the owners have refurbished and remodeled the rooms. This place is perfect for an out of the way, secluded, quiet get away. The view is breathtaking. Mike, the owner goes out of his way to make and enjoyable stay. He host the local beer club and his beer and wine store has everything a connoisseur would want. The food is about average, but they have a limited menu. As of July, the tavern was not open. He has gutted it and is in the process of remodeling it. We ate all meals and drinks on the patio. He did have a killer Ribeye, that I must say was outstanding! EDIT — Not sure why the address is Marion. The Inn is located halfway between Blowing Rock and Ashville in a town called Little Switzerland. The GPS coords are 35’5182’03.
