Fun place that I enjoy eating at when we remember that it’s close. I enjoy the tackle box meal. Nothing fancy, but it is a nice stop for lunch.

My husband and I eat here frequently, sometimes four or five days, and it’s a great place. Menu is eclectic and pizza is very good (thin crust), and hubby is hooked on the Pinecones. Staff is friendly, professional and fun. The huge guy is Mick, and he owns the place. Great cocktails and beer selection.

If you want to sit in uncomfortable chairs, wait 40 minutes for a salad and eat fake, crappy-​tasting food go for it. I’ve done it twice hoping maybe my first try was just a fluke. Nope.
Tonight my wife ordered chicken breast, grilled veggies with rice. We’re in our 50s, we don’t turn our noses up at food to the point we actually won’t eat it but I noticed her making faces and so I asked what was up. She said the veggies were REALLY bad, the chicken was awful and even the wild rice was terrible. The chicken breast looked pretty good so I say «Even the chicken?» and she gives me a bite. YUK — TERRIBLE. I don’t know what it was but THAT is not a chicken breast.
Her veggies, for sure, came from a bag of frozen veggies, they tossed them in some corn oil and «grilled them.» Disgusting. The rice? God knows. I’ve never seen my wife send a meal back — she sent it back and didn’t order anything else. We couldn’t wait another 40 minutes for something to eat.
I ate my «chicken breast» salad which I guaran-​damn-​tee you was frozen, seasoned by the manufacturer (not the onsite chef that’s for sure) with who knows what chicken strips. I have no problem with the mixed greens — all the rest was real food except the dressing — wanted oil and vinegar which they don’t have — WHY WOULDN’T A RESTAURANT KEEP A DAMN BOTTLE OF VINEGAR AND A BOTTLE OF OIL AROUND? No it won’t be the most popular but so what.
That’s two strikes and out for me — they don’t get a third strike.
I have a tip for the owners if they read this — SERVE REAL FOOD — NOT FROZEN PRE-​SEASONED GARBAGE.

An hour later, I’m still waiting on my food. Walked in to a full house –no problem. However, I was told to sit where I like… I looked around at the full tables and finally had someone ask if I wanted to sit in the Colorado room. And I had to ask what that is.

So the lady tells me that the Colorado room is their gaming room. And leads us out the back door, past the dumpster to a connected room with slot machines and a couple tables. Kind of weird but I’ll roll with it. Until we had to wait for our drink order for her to remember menus. Was stand offish about that.
An hour later we get our blackened salmon sandwich. Not blackened. And tiny… like the individually wrapped microwaveable pouched salmon from you grocery freezer aisle. The chips are not seasoned and barely cooked. I’m really frickin disappointed.

Great place for some unique food options. The burgers were very good and so were the crawdads. Fun atmosphere to enjoy. Small place so a reservation is a good idea on a busy night.

Wife and I went here last night.
Little bit of a wait, but thats expected when it’s a great place.

Once was enough. Waited 2 hours from the time we were seated until our food was served. Fool me once, shame on you …

Westwoods is another local restaurant that I love to support while in SPI. Over the past three months I’ve been three times and have to say left half & half on the satisfied meter. The sauces and chicken wings, delicious, the Italian beef and «kobe beef» burgers, not so much.
For apps we tried boneless, and bone-​in wings with two flavors and different dressing and all was awesome. Garlic parm with ranch was my favorite bite. They also do other creative dipping sauces great. And the specialty cheese sauces! Wild buffalo cheese sauce should be put on everything.
The problem I’ve had arise with the meat. Called the Westwoods Canoe, «A true Westwoods Original» it’s listed as layers of Italian beef. What I got was thick cut roast beef, on a dry hoagie, with au jus on the side. IMO, that’s not an Italian beef so I was disappointed. When it came to the burgers. I specifically asked if the patties were hand-​made in-​house and was told yes. Twice, I paid extra to give the Kobe beef a try with their ponyshoe, and then the Dominant Buck burger. Unfortunately neither time did it taste like a fresh made patty or of «buttery tenderness and flavor unequal to traditional burgers» as listed on the menu.
With a large menu and so many things still being done right, I’ll be back, but it won’t stay on my «must visit every time I’m in SPI» list.

Ok I have tried it again. The parking lot is always full, it must be better? Had the walleye basket. I chose onion rings as my size. Nice presentation, 4 pieces of just awful fish, batter had no flavor. 4, yes, 4 onion rings! Thats all folks. This meal was really not good at all.

Once we receive it inside of this wilderness Haven. I felt like we walked inside of the home of a great Huntsman the walls are decorated in all kinds of animal décor. Expected the menu to have more wild meat options however I found that it actually offers a variety that whole family can love. While still offering the exotic fares. My boyfriend and I went and we got the tackle boxes. I was craving something fried. They bring your dish out inside of a tackle box it was a great presentation. They even sell the tackle box if you want to purchase it. Definitely going back to try new things on the menu.

Awesome food, cool atmosphere, & decent prices. We love it here! Horseshoes are excellent!

Came to westwoods last night for 40 cent boneless wings and Monday night football.
The wings were amazing! Sometimes when you get boneless at wing places you end up with little chicken nugget bites. This is not the case at westwoods the size of the boneless wings are very generous and my order of 12 was more than enough to fill me up. I ordered half Parmesan garlic, stop what your doing and go get some now, and half honey mustard, good but not great. My buddy ordered the traditional buffalo and he reported that they did indeed have a good kick. 2 dollar Coors lite on draft was the beer special, can’t complain about that!
The only reason why I can’t give them 5 stars is the bar area fills up fast and sometimes tables are hard to come by. I understand this is not something they can change and it intact indicates that their business is doing well. But the only open table for me last night was in far back corner and my head was only 5 feet from the biggest tv in the bar. Needless to say I did not stick around for the entire Monday night football came because my eyes were strained from being directly in front of the big screen. There are about 4 other Televisons in the bar area but for me to watch them comfortably would have required me to either look at someone’s table while they ate or moved to the other side of the table and sat directly next to my buddy. As we are not 13 year old girls we did not do that, so we ate our wings guzzled our beers and rushed home to watch the second half of the game.
The wings are great here, just go if you’ve never been. And if you live in Springfield and you’ve never gone, you are surely missing out.

So, relying on Unilocal,this looks like a pretty cool place. They have elk steak, elk burgers, and grilled Portobello. Going with the blackened walleye today for dinner after a 6 hour road trip. Excellent walleye. Done to perfection. The baked potato was large, and a great side, but the grilled beans were worthy of writing home to mother about! Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area visiting Homer or Bart. Or, going out of your way, for a cool little stopping point. Dinner and drinks for $ 20. Such a deal!!!
BTW: Deer, elk, black bear and moose grace the wall. Methinks a hunter would be very at home here. Would have expected a bit more testosterone, but they must be oiling they’re guns. Wish I had time to wait…
Food’s here. Gotta graze

This is one of those places that never disappoint. Went for lunch with my wife on a rare Friday off. Enjoyed catfish dinner, a huge potato and salad with excellent house Italian dressing. Wife had Bailey’s pizza –tomato, mushrooms, onions, mozzarella and blue cheese. Both were tasty. Waitress was quite busy, but attentive with a sassy attitude. Considering the bison burger next time.

My go to place to take out of friends family and business clients. Unique menu and generally good food gives guests a neat diversion. Badabing wings my personal favorite — great wings not fried.

Very All American place. I sat in their back room. With my buddies and it was alot quieter which was perfect for us so that we could hear. The burgers were lovely. We got bison, elk, and deer! And the frog legs were just enormous! Got much too full. Will definitely come again to satisfy my love for venison

Good food good atmosphere. Food is served fast and hot. I’m sure we will go back again.

My husband saw this restaurant advertised at the Prairie Capitol Convention Center and thought it might be an interesting place to visit. The atmosphere was very relaxed and it was evident they welcomed large groups of families. Our server was friendly and efficient. The food was out quickly and the taste was great! I would definitely come back to try more of the wild game dishes.

This place was damn good. Décor is pretty cool. .. A hunter lodge type atmosphere. I had the pine cones for an app (very good) and got the Kodiak burger for dinner. That thing was huge and I loved every last bite. Will defiantly be there again next time I’m in the area.

Very cool place to have drink and food. I love the menu it’s look so cool.
The way they sever the food is surprise me. But it’s very fun place to stop by.
