To All: I just saw the sign up that used to Be Tommy Thais’ on Saturday August 9th, 2014. The new sign is up, drum roll please… We will be having a Bob and Edith’s Diner in the old Tommy Thai spot. Not sure of the opening, but I am assuming in a few months.

This was my favorite restaurant in the entire Springfield area. It was a hidden gem. I’m sad it had to close down. :’(

They have couple of best dishes in the Thai Cuisine. CHipotle Chicken or Shirimp is out of the world. It is on the Spicy side but that is what I like! Red Curry & Green Curry are good as well.

Love love loved their chicken drunken noodle. Their Chai Iced tea was good. However it was little too sweet for me I had to water it down. Over all experience was great! Defiantly coming back

Came here on our first date with my now husband :) This place hold a special place in our hearts, although the food is just okay. The restaurant is clean and modern looking. I have no idea how it survives since it doesn’t seem to be busy. The service is usually good. They often have vouchers on groupon, living social, etc… The pad seew was pretty decent and the panang curry was okay. Overall it’s just a little over average Thai food, nothing special, but very consistent. I want to give it a 3.5 stars.

This is a go-to place for the fiancé and I. We seriously don’t get Thai from anywhere else in the area. His staple is the Panang with chicken, while mine is vegetarian pad thai. We have also on occasion gotten the satay, crispy spring rolls, and dumplings for appetizers and weren’t disappointed.

We’ve dined in and ordered delivery several times. It’s always consistent and good. I usually get either the spicy basil beef, or the panang and they are both excellent. The delivery doesn’t take too long, but they are just a little on the pricey side. There aren’t many other thai delivery options for us, so it’s okay.

3.5 stars Been on a thai kick lately. Been here several times and it’s a cute little place in the Springfield Plaza. The staff are extremely friendly and service has always been awesome! Which is why I am giving 3.5 stars. Food is ok at best. If you want better authentic thai food, then I suggest going right across the street to Bangkok Noodle. I’ve tried the drunken Noodle, Pad Thai, Crying Tiger, and Thai Chipotle entrees here. But of all those, I like the Thai Chipotle the best. The sauce is extremely spicy(which I love – kind of reminds me of the red curry jerk chicken at Thai Box in Lorton). The other dishes were good, but nothing to really rave about. I thought the drunken noodle was extremely salty. I’ve always ordered carry out or sat at the bar. Sometimes, you go back to places because of the staff and how well they treat you. This is one of those places. My brother frequents this place more than I do just for that reason alone. And he HATES thai food. haha. He goes to grab a drink at the bar, talk with the staff and get some appetizers.

The staff was very friendly and nice but the food was something to be left desired. I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken and the dish was laden in sauce and it was very salty. I took about 3 bites and that’s about all I could eat. I have eaten the Pad Thai here once before and was surprised that the drunken noodles weren’t good at all. We ended up leaving hungry and upset so we went across the street to Bangkok Noodle. I don’t think we’ll be coming back.

I’ve eaten in the restaurant and ordered take out from them. The place is nice and the atmosphere pleasant. Does tend to get a bit crowded on weekend evenings. Prices are competitive with surrounding places. Eating in we’ve had the Pad Thai and the Drunken noodles both of which were quite tasty but the show stealer is the papaya salad. Yum! Take out we had the basil chicken(great) the panang curry(excellent) and the Thai Chipotle(I shouldn’t have ordered a fried dish in sauce for delivery because it was soggy by the time it got to us but definitely had the best heat). We like spicy and I would recommend asking for it spicier than they normally make it. My biggest complaint was the bread pudding I ordered. I realize you generally use older bread to make it but this actually tasted like the bread might have been moldy and was turned into bread pudding to cover it up. I took one bite and it went into the trash.

I feel a bit bad reviewing this place because the staff was very very friendly and nice. Food was very bad, sweet and sour shrimp composed of undercooked rubbery tasteless shrimp in an overly tangy orange water, that’s right, not sauce. Pineapples tasted of undercooked shrimp, rice was saugy, and spring rolls were very meh.

My wife and I met some friends in here the other night and it was our first time here. I enjoy Thai food but my wife has a severe cilantro(coriander) allergy so we typically avoid Thai and Indian cuisine altogether. This trip was a good experience. All I ordered for food was the Lemongrass Tom Yum soup and it was absolutely delicious. The tang from the lemongrass mixed with cilantro and shrimp made my taste buds do the happy dance. Now, my wife is also allergic to mint so no Mojitos for her. We discovered a cocktail that was served in Guy’s restaurant in NYC when it first opened called the California Mojito… I believe. As of now, they no longer serve it but the point is, it was made with basil instead of mint. We spoke with the bartender here at Tommy Thai and he did some Google searches and he used his mix-ology skills and made my wife an amazing mixed drink with Thai basil and fresh strawberries. It was freaking killer! This place was clean, the staff was very friendly and the aroma inside just made you want to try the food. I really want to go back here for dinner. I am dying to try the green curry chicken. If the food is as good as our previous experience I will re-review and bump up to five stars.

This place has always been one of my family and I’s top Thai places to eat at. Out of all of the Thai places we’ve eaten at, I would have to say that this place usually tops them in particular dishes, especially their appetizers. I find that they have the best chicken satay and Thai dumplings I’ve tried so far. Their entrees are good as well. We always order drunken noodles no matter what. The service is nice and friendly, they also are quite attentive. The interior of the restaurant is also very sleek and modern. Today I tried their new addition to the dessert menu — crème brûlée. I was a little disappointed that my old favorite dessert(strawberries in rum topped with whipped cream) was gone, but I was looking forward to trying their crème brûlée. The serving is a little small, so if you’re a dessert lover like me, you might want to order one just for yourself! It’s topped off with strawberries and the torched top is the perfect texture of crunchiness. It’s great, get it!

Tommy Thai delivery(through grubhub) is my go-to lazy-stay-in-hotel-room-and-work delivery choice. The portions are huge and they allow you to customize your meal with additional toppings and comments about how you want your dishes prepared. My typical delivery includes a pad thai(with extra veggies, extra shrimps, and LOTSOFLEMON/LIME/LEMONJUICE — I like my pad thai extra sour), a thai iced tea, and something random to tip my order over the $ 20 scale so I can get free delivery. The pad thai here is better than at most other VA places I’ve tried(still incomparable to most CA places though!). I haven’t tried any other menu items, so I can’t say how this place stands as a whole compared to other Thai places in the area… but I doubt you can go wrong with the typical Thai dishes on their delivery menu. Tip: the delivery radius is small — so check before you order!

WORSTTHAI I’VEEVERHAD. I only went there because I had a Specialicious deal with my parents. It was only our table of 3 and a couple in the entire restaurant on a Weds night. Our three entrees took over half an hour to bring out, and the two servers did not come by our table ONCE since we had ordered our food. Then when we received our entrees, they did not even taste took. I had the Shrimp Pad Thai and it was bland and the shrimp was poor quality. My dad ordered the Spicy Basil Fried Rice and the rice kernels were still RAW and hard. He didn’t mention anything, but at the end of the meal when we asked to box up his uneaten food, my mom had mentioned to our server that his food was not cooked all the way, and our server decided to respond with an attitude and say«what do you mean? its FRIED rice» while giving my mother a look like she was stupid. I have never been so offended and disappointed with a meal before that it made me want to make an account on Unilocal just to share this with you all. I love Thai food and have been to many Thai restaurants. This by far had the worst Thai food I’ve had, and that doesn’t even factor in the horrible service. Please do not go here, if you want great Thai food, go to Rice and Noodles off Franconia Rd in Springfield — they have better prices, food, and service.

I’m really not a fan. I only went here because: I got off of work late, already late for a dinner date with my cousin who loves good food as equally as I do, and we got lost trying to find a new place we were dieing to try and landed here because it was too late and we were so hungry. Already off to a bad start. The service was fine, that wasn’t the issue. The lack of options and very Americanized Thai menu was the problem. Just to be on the safe side, we ordered Pad Thai and something else so unmemorable that it has escaped my mind after only a week of visiting this okay place. They didn’t have any variety whatsoever! The food came out alright. For some weird reason, they have the same or higher prices than dozens of better, more authentic Thai restaurants within a 20 mile radius. Honestly, I wouldn’t even go here again if they gave me a free dinner. Sorry, me no likey.

I’ve been here twice but have only had the Pad Thai because it always turns out excellent! I’ve seen the curries walking by and they look and smell delicious so I’ll force myself to get one next time. They are very nice and attentive and I like the décor on the inside. It’s also nice and cool which is good on a hot day/eating spicy food.

We came… we ate. 2 appetizers Thai Dumplings and the Siracha Shrimp 2 entrees Basil Chicken and Chipotle Thai Chicken… we saw… we paid for the bill… we left… The food was pretty good NOT as good as other Thai joints we have had but pretty good. I wasn’t overly impressed with the Chipotle Thai dish we had, the sauce was a bit oily and bland could have used something sweet in it. The Basil Chicken was very good fresh, tasty, right portion size and well plated. Appetizers were above average the Dumplings were good and packed with flavor but the Siracha Shrimp didn’t bring the heat like I expected. Overall the service was OK and the foodwas just OK but not a meal I would regret.

Visited on a Thursday night, around 8:30 and the place was nearly empty. Service was really friendly. As others have mentioned, the décor is trendy and the music gives it a lounge-y feel. I definitely liked the atmosphere. The food was OK. I would not rush back here, but I would eat here if someone wanted to. The chicken satay was good — very tender & moist. Shrimp fried rice was very good too. However, the vegetable pad Thai was not good. Veggies appeared to be either frozen or canned, and were not warm, though the rest of the dish was fine, temperature wise. I just did not find this dish to have much flavor. Portions are huge and dinner prices were in-line with what I am used to.
