The Studio On 6th

Everytime I’m in Springfield I visit this little shop. It’s very colorful and you can find a collection of artist made items, which are really one of a kind. I bought some earrings in the shape of starfish the first time I was there, which I still have, so the quality is pretty good. I bought a pair of hand-​knit finger-​less mittens this time, which I searched online and I couldn’t find them of this quality. They are hand-​knit and have little flowers. They are perfect for the winter months, when I’m typing on my computer. I would describe this store as the local Etsy, which is the online store for one of a kind artistic creations. You can definitely find cute things that you can’t find anywhere else. They have clothes, accessories, gifts and they wrap everything for you, which is kind of nice. Kind of like when you to a fancy department store and they wrap up your expensive item. It’s not really cheap, but it’s worth the money in my opinion.

This is such a great little place. Its exactly what I hope to find when I am visiting a town and want to get gifts beyond the normal postcards.
Studio on 6^th is a mix between several different things. A large portion of their shop (maybe the whole shop?) is an artists collective where they sell all sorts of wares from jewelry to clothing to bags and kitchen items. There is also an area in the back where they sell a small collection of vintage clothing. I got a great 1970’s dress for about $ 20 and they also had a few adorable hand tea-​dyed vintage slips and hand-​dyed tie-​dye items. I also purchased some amazing hand-​made hammered copper earrings (for under $ 10!) as a gift and could have continued all day if I hadnt dragged myself out of the store.
This place is really everything you could want out of a gift shop. Its filled with amazing, personal creations by local artists, its run by friendly, helpful people, there are nice little surprises like vintage clothing and hand-​carved wooden kitchen items and you get the feeling that every time you go back there will be new, interesting things.
