In the beginning, services were effective and I felt like I was getting good treatments. But as time has gone on, I have seen that the services have been less and less effective. I am growing hair in treated areas within two days of treatments, which had not been the case since beginning electrolysis treatments late last year with another provider. This rapid hair growth has happened on my last three visits with her. At first I thought maybe I was getting caught at bad hair regrowth cycle times. I have found this to not be the case as my last two visits were at a completely different schedule then the ones prior. I think maybe I am just not a good fit for the equipment she uses. I have sensitive skin and think that maybe the right balance isn’t being found there. The treatments as they are now would require 2x weekly treatments for me, which is a service level and frequency I cannot afford or have the scheduling ability for. I would recommend her for someone who is already on the tail end of their hair removal journey or who has the time and resources for more frequent visits.
She is very open schedule wise. Her office is very neat and I haven’t had any issues with parking with her being located in a beauty salon. Overall, I hate to give her three stars because she is very professional. But with the hair growth being the way it has been my last few visits, I can’t do any higher than that. I would say give her a shot, but be prepared if services are a bit of a let down after a while.

Virtually PAIN FREE ELECTROLYSIS!!! YES!!! I have been going to Karyn since 2011 for laser hair removal and electrolysis. I have to admit the electrolysis was pretty painful on the more sensitive areas of my skin. However, Karyn just got a brand new machine (May 2013) and this thing is amazing. When she did the first couple of hairs I said, «Wow… this is so gentle today!» She didn’t say anything and did several more. Then she asked me how I liked the new machine. I had no idea she had a new machine until she told me and I was blown away! I’m telling you this new machine fantastic. Not only is it virtually pain free, it is more powerful than the previous machine she had been using. On a scale of 1 – 10 (1 being no pain and 10 being painful) I would rate the old machine between and 8 – 10 but this new machine I would rate a 3 – 5. The five was only on the really sensitive skin areas.
Karyn is extremely professional and knowledgeable about skin care and hair removal. Her prices are competitive and reasonable. If you are shopping around for prices and are tempted to go with the cheapest, I promise this new machine is worth the extra few bucks it may cost you.
As far as previous reviewers issues with John David Hair Salon staff, I have had the same feelings of them being kind of snotty. Previously, all appointments were made by calling the salon. However, now you can make, cancel, and change your appointments online (this is REALLY convenient) and Karyn takes payment for services in the treatment room herself so you don’t have to deal with the staff at all. It’s all very streamlined and fast compared to making appointments on the phone and paying at the reception desk when leaving.

To be fair, it is the Salon staff (Joan David Hair Salon) and customers that are snubby. Skin Care Solutions is a separate business but it is inside the hair salon (kind of like an incubator, i guess). The owner contacted me to see if there was anything she could do to make me a happy customer, so i have to give credit for that.

I have been going to Karyn Lynch the owner forseveral years. She has been trained in all types of skin care treatments as well as laser hair removal and electrolysis. Her premises are spotless. She is friendly, knowledgeable and professional at all times. I would recommend this business unconditionally.

I’ve been receiving hair removal services at Skin Care Solutions for a bit, and I’m overall pretty satisfied with the results. Karen is really welcoming and friendly, which certainly contributes to a pleasant experience. She also takes care with her services, prepping you before and after, and in speaking with her, I can tell she is very knowledgeable about her industry, which assures me that I’m in good hands (though the positive results are of course telling). She also offers other services, such as microdermabrasion and others that justify the business name, but I have not received those.
The prices for the hair removal services I receive are a bit expensive, but one of the reasons I initially sought out SCS is because the prices are generally competitive for the area (i.e., DC’s more expensive, but more rural businesses may be cheaper).
Skin Care Solutions is located in the same building as Jon David’s Salon, and the front desk is operated by the salon. The front area is of course salon-​y and has that haute couture ambiance, but I survive just fine wearing a t-​shirt and jeans for my appointments. The people at the front desk are generally friendly and treat me as a valued client.
Ultimately, I would definitely recommend Skin Care Solutions’ hair removal services; I’ve had mostly satisfactory results with competitive prices, which I feel make for good value.
