One of the best places I have been to in a long time. Only complaint was that the lighting was so low that we couldn’t read the menu without turning on our phone lights. Other than that, the seating was warm and comfortable. The hummus spread was amazing. Kyle our server was the BEST. Not only was he attentive and quick with our orders, he knew the menu and made sure we understood what kind of drink we were ordering.

Josh always takes care of us each time we are there. We have been there multiple times and have never had a bad experience. If you want a different Scotch and Soda experience, try out their brunch on Sunday. You will not regret it.

My wife and I had a great time here. Stumbled across this place on a Sunday afternoon. They make home made punch to die for and great pork taco’s with a taco bar! Great service and cool atmosphere!

Wow! What a gem! We walked in and the owner(!!!) actually greeted us with a bottle of my favorite digestif and poured us all the most lavish of pours. I’m not sure what I did to even deserve this star treatment, but you can bet your bottom dollar I will be returning every fortnight for the next decade. I love you, scotch and soda. Oh and the house nuts are fabulous. Whoever makes them does a fantastic job. In fact, all of the food is to DIE for. Who is behind this menu, I have GOT to know!!!

This place was great except for all the people smoking outside. The bar opens it’s windows and it’s very obnoxious if you have asthma.

When I was a kid, I always imagined adult me hanging out at bars with class and style, where the patrons came well-dressed and conducted themselves with an air of sophistication. You can probably imagine my disappointment when I was finally old enough to visit one in real life, but Scotch and Soda comes as close to fitting the bill as anything I’ve experienced. Combine that with a ridiculous selection of great scotch and you have a recipe for just the kind ultra-cool hangout my younger incarnation dreamt of.

During a business trip to Springfield, I ended up stopping in here with a few friends one evening for«dinner.» Unfortunately, they didn’t have much of a food menu. Fortunately, what they do have is pretty dang tasty. I had the ABC&J sandwich. It was amazing. I wasn’t sure how the almond butter, peach jam, and swiss raclette were gonna make an edible sandwich, but I decided to try it anyways and I’m glad I did. It’s more of a dessert sandwich than a dinner sandwich. Very creamy and sweet, offset by the toasted sourdough slices. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re a bit more open with your palate, though I could definitely see it not appealing to everyone. The staff were all friendly, helpful, and attentive. Their selection of Scotch is vast. I’m sure they have pretty much something for everyone. Though be prepared to drop a few big bills here if you wanna have a few drinks. They also have several different Scotch flights that look pretty tasty and run from $ 40 to $ 65 for most with their ultimate flight being $ 250.

I loved this place, it’s a real lounge, set up just how a good lounge should be; it’s dimly lit, classy, has fine beers as well as some excellent old style cocktails! Complaints or shortcomings? None that I could see; I loved the place! Classy, but not pretentious, upscale, yet still casual; it was a great vibe.

How drinks are done. S&S compares to the best cocktails I’ve had in NYC, SFO, etc. These guys make a cocktail that will compete in the big leagues, all in an atmosphere that is second to none.

What a great bar. The décor is perfect for a relaxing cocktail or craft bees. The menu of small plates and sandwich was very impessive. We selected the blue cheese and walnuts plate and were very happy with it. The bar tender was quite knowledgable regarding how to fix a wide range of drinks and had a huge selection of liquors to choose from. We will definitely be back and will contjnue to recommend.

I was grateful to find this place during a business trip to Springfield. It made me feel like I was at home in Seattle. An awesome bartender, Rogan, provided great service and information. I knew the place would be great when he mentioned a few foodie joints in Seattle that he recently visited. I came for happy hour and had the house made black bean hummus w/veggies & pita bread and it was delicious. I also had the Bella Morte — twice — and it was a fresh, beautifully mixed cocktail with gin, basil, strawberries and more. So so good. I will definitely return if I come back to Springfield, and I will be looking for the Rum Bar that Rogan is opening in a few months.

Super place to start or end during a date or a night out. Great selection of top shelf scotch and whiskey. The staff is excellent and will be able to recommend a place to start if you are not a connoisseur. Late night happy hour after 11 on weekdays. They also have a food menu. Try the Cubana.

Scotch and Soda is the perfect after dinner hangout. Plenty of room and a large menu of drinks would keep just about anybody happy. My husband and I were here over the weekend and had a great time. You don’t have to be a scotch lover to enjoy the menu. I had a cocktail on the Sweet & Savory side called a Fernetting Sarah Marshall. It was pretty good although I had never heard of some of the ingredients in it. I’m not too adventurous when it comes to alcohol so I wasn’t sure what to get but I was happy with my choice. My husband got the Introduction to Scotch flight which contained 6 different scotches from different regions. It was a pretty cool way to figure out what you like and don’t like. If anything, it was fun to sample. If we weren’t already full from dinner, we would have loved to try some of their sandwiches or boards. The Ratatouille sounded delicious as well as the charcuterie. Maybe next time we can plan to go here for dinner instead. Lights get dim about 10pm and we left shortly thereafter. Not sure if the party gets wild at that point, but prior to we had a nice relaxing time. We’d for sure go back.

The Springfield community seems to be singing praises of this bar – and rightfully so! I came here last night with a friend of mine, and we were immediately impressed. It felt as if we had travelled back in time about 90 years. It is dimly lit by chandeliers, filled with leather couches and antique tables, and stocked with an eyebrow raising bar. Just about anything you could think to order is possible at Scotch and Soda – and I tested them in this just for fun. Long ago I heard about a drink called the Rosewater Rickey, and I have always wanted to try it. This is basically how it is made: you take brandied cherries and coat them with a bar spoon of sugar. Add a high proof liquor to an atomizer and brûlée the sugared bradded cherries. Muddle the brûléed cherries and add about 3−4oz of gin and a bar spoon of rosewater, then shake it until it’s ice cold. Strain it into a highball glass, top it off with club soda, and garnish with two brandied cherries.(I know, I know. I’m probably getting a few eye rolls from the scotch-on-the-rocks guys out there. Don’t write me off just yet. I appreciate that, too, and their whiskey menu is just as magnificent.) The bartender had never made this drink before, but he was really happy to try it out. We chatted about drinks while he experimented. The Rosewater Rickey was incredible. I was really impressed with this bartender. HE took the time to educate while making drinks. I love that part of any drink experience. Aside from their great drink and wine menu, they also have sandwiches, dips, and waffles on certain days of the week. All around, it was a greta night. We ended up staying there for about 5 hours. I’ll definitely be back soon.

The Basil Julep alone would rate this place a 5 star for me — but what really clenched the rating was the super awesome staff. Super friendly and dapper to boot. I like this place enough to come here sober — and for downtown Springfield that’s saying a lot.

I FINALLY made it over to Scotch and Soda this past Monday night. There are a few reasons I’ve put off coming here: 1) It’s always slammed and 2) I don’t go out for drinks often. But my group of friends has been frequenting S&S’s Waffle Nights(Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays only after 11 p.m.) for a few weeks now; considering Leslie Knope is my spirit animal, I figured Waffle Night was a great introduction. Rewind a few nights prior to exactly 11 p.m. I met up with my two amigos and we waltzed in to a literally nearly empty Scotch & Soda — even though it was late on a Monday night, I honestly expected to see it jam-packed. The alternative was completely fine with me, though, so we chose our seats and I took everything in. First impressions — woah, this place is classier than a waxed mustache. It’s not Hobby Lobby pseudo-classy where everything looks nice but is made of wicker or plastic — it’s actually classy, Urban Outfitters influence be damned. Craftsman table lamps, quirky(but not TOO quirky) animal paintings, deep colors, and dark, polished wood everywhere your eye may wander. The aesthetic here gets an A for losing the shabby-chic theme adopted by so many of its bar neighbors. The menu reflected the vibe. Presented well, sort of expensive, and probably beyond some people’s tastes. I was a little too tired to peruse for a long time, though, so I made a snap decision to order the house chardonnay and a Nutella waffle. Yum. My friends ordered a cider and beer(no real reason to comment on them when they weren’t house-made) respectively, as well as a bacon chocolate chip waffle and a peanut butter banana waffle. Double yum. I know we came on a completely deserted night, but our waitress was attentive and personable while we waited, which wasn’t long. She made a sassy comment about how she was the best waffle maker in the house and that she was bummed she didn’t get to make ours, but I have to admit, they were still pretty good despite being made by Anonymous up at the front. My waffle didn’t blow my mind, but I mean… You can’t go wrong with waffles, right? Especially not as a late-night treat. With Nutella. For four bucks. As for my chardonnay, it was tart, snappy, and dry — worth five dollars and a lovely night cap. All in all, I spent about 12 dollars for both items. I wish I had some house drinks to comment about, but maybe next time. Major one-sentence takeaway: S&S is doing good by acting the part of a big-city bar, especially given that Springfield needs more places like this to bring it out of its eternal college-dive stigma. I’m excited to come back for more of their menu soon.

Currently one on the trendiest places in downtown Springfield. Wait staff service varies greatly. We’ve had one great waiter, however the last two times have been below average. With the drink prices at the high end, we might try other locations.

Add this to the list of other places that impressed me incredibly in downtown Springfield. Especially surprising b/c this is such a college town, Scotch and Soda is swanky, sexy and all grown up. I can only imagine what the budget was for the build out. The place is so thoughtfully designed, with the bar in the front and in the back half a large number of plush seating opportunities. The furniture is nicer than anything that deserves to be in a bar, and I hope that they can maintain the quality. The curtains, wallpaper and paint colors hint at a bordello theme, but classier than that sounds. I certainly approve of the vibe, Of course, without great cocktails what’s the of a fancy bar? Fortunately, they have this covered. I think I counted around a dozen or so specialty cocktails, with homemade bitters and all of the other requisite nuvo-speakeasy necessities. We only stuck around for one round, but both were great. I went for something boozy and spirit forward and the significant other opted for something a little more fruity and dainty. Both ends of the spectrum are well represented. If you’re a beer or wine drinker, they’ll have you covered there as well. Scotch and Soda would be a great place to visit for a nice night out with friends or a special occasion. It will be my first stop on my next trip to visit friends in Springfield.
