Absolutely love the APA. The busser in the bar is the hardest working one! Bring back the citra!!!

Alright this post completely honest on my experience. The food is indeed good but not great. It’s also overpriced for the portion size. There was also an issue on the timing the food was made my food was barely warm while my boyfriend’s fried fish was piping hot. The menu itself I can tell they do put a lot of effort and it did all look amazing. That said when the execution is lacking and portion is small, what’s the point? The staff was all great and super friendly and attentive.

Had a Sunday brunch and beer at the bar, both offerings were very good. Also enjoyed the beer-to-go option. A great option for downtown Springfield!

In summer this place is great. The beer made here is just OK, but the food is better than average. I like the atmosphere here and the people are always friendly.

Come for the beer. It’s their own and pretty tasty. Stay for the horseshoe. OK, so I had the ponyshoe, same thing but more sanely sized. You can eat it with fork and knife or just inject the cholesterol into your arteries. Have heard about it for years and it did not disappoint. Every place has to be famous for something. Springfield has its horseshoe and Obed & Isaac’s pretty much delivers on the expectation.

We were in Springfield for the day and before making the hour drive home, we decided to have dinner with our 2 kids here. The atmosphere, beer, and food were great. We had a pony shoe, Cobb salad, fish & chips, and macaroni and cheese. Our beer selections included an IPA and milk stout-both quite good. My only very minor complaint was our waitress had been seated with 3 tables and all the tables featured KIDS and I overheard her tell the hostess that she better not get anymore kids in her section. I could have done without that comment. Otherwise, great place and will go back if ever in the area again.

Love love love this place. The goat cheese stuffed dates and pretzel rolls are must try appetizers. And the lamb burger is such an excellent burger, if you’re interested in trying something a little different. There isn’t a bad beer on the menu, regardless of your taste preferences. Try them all!

A must any time you find yourself in our State’s capitol city. The beer is fantastic and the food ain’t bad either. My daughter still prefers the horse shoes from D’arcy’s Pint, but she’s 12, so who knows. Happy to see a few vegetarian options on the menu. Instead of bombers of their in-house brew, they fill a large oil can style can right there at the bar and cap it with a standard pop top. Pretty cool! I will definitely be back for lunch or dinner next time I’m in town.

I really enjoyed our dinner here and I think the average review is underrating the quality of this place. The beer was fresh and tasty — I had a sampler flight of four and enjoyed them all. I had the horseshoe with pulled pork, which was very tasty. The pork was smoky, the secret cheese sauce was not overwhelming, and the battered fries were awesome. My wife is a vegetarian and was very happy with the house vegetarian burger. Pleasant surprise for a random stop on vacation. Service was fine — polite but nothing exceptional. Hostesses seemed a little lax and I could see it getting overwhelmed on a busy day(lots of sitting around chatting when slow). Nice location and historic building, but still casual.

Close to the Lincoln home and our tour guide recommended Obed’s. It is a small place but they have an outdoor beer garden in the summer. We came for the famed horseshoe sandwich but decided to try two dishes to split. The horseshoe was amazing! We got the lamb version and the fries were the best, seasoned and super crispy. The other dish was like a pot pie with meat and mashed potatoes on top. No side, no veg. I would not order this again. They were out of the homemade root beer too. I would go back for the horseshoe and cross my fingers they have root beer next time.

Had breakfast and dinner at this place. It was great both times. I think, wait time might be little too long than one would expect for a place that seem big from outside.
Heard that it’s micro brewery has some unique flavors. Heard few people recommending this place…

Good food and good craft beer. Great outdoor dining and beer garden. However, not everyone likes craft beer so it would be nice to have other beer available. I tend to have one beer there and then I move on to another establishment. Great except during the lovely Springfield winters…

So I’m in Springfield for some state meetings. A friend and I decided to eat at one of the many pubs downtown. We started out going to a different pub but the hotel guy suggested we try this one instead. Okay. So it’s a quick three block walk from either the Double Tree or the Hilton. It is in a historic mansion that is absolutely beautiful. If you are a beer drinker this is the place to be in Springfield. They bottle(growler) beer and they can it for your to go order and they have lots and lots on tap. I’m not a beer drinker. Oddly enough they had a pretty decent wine selection as well. Yay me! The wait was 20 min in the middle of the week so it’s pretty popular I’m guessing. The house/restaurant is beautiful. The staff were very friendly and seemed to enjoy their job and enjoy helping folks out. The bar staff bickered over which wine I would like. I went with both suggestions. Ha. The waiter was lightening fast and told us he was quick on his feet. I had the fish and chips and my friend had the GBLT. Goat cheese, bacon, lettuce, and tomato and I made fun of her for paying $ 9.50 for a BLT. It was highly recommended by the waiter. She said it was great but she knew it wasn’t a local or freshly grown tomato. The Fish and Chips were good but the oil in the fish fryer could stand to be changed midday if it was fresh this morning and the middle of the fish was a little mushy. Other than our few little issues it was good and reasonably priced. Not bad for a concierge suggestion. Not bad at all.

This was great pit stop on the way to St Louis. We tried our 1st horseshoe with corned beef made in house. It was a tasty heart attack on a plate that I am glad the BF and I just ordered one. The service was friendly and helpful too.

Awesome spot to take a break from all Abe Lincoln site seeing! It’s walking distance from all the main sites and closest to Lincoln’s home. We didn’t see much of the inside since we sat at the outside patio to take in the sun, but a quick glance at the bar showed me it was a happening place since there were no open seats left at the bar but the rest of the restaurant still had open tables. From the outside, the mansion turned microbrewery was beautiful and you could tell the building must have a great history story to tell. And their newspaper style menu did just that. As you look through the menu, you could also read all about how they came about. Our waitress was very polite and down to earth, but seemed quite overwhelmed with the several full tables she was handling. We ordered the pork horseshoe, the Springfield original. It was incredible! The special cheese sauce on top of fries on top of a piece of bread. Each item was good on its own but a bite with all 3 was superb. The have a decent selection of their own brewed beers. We ordered a couple of flights. Our favorites were the Session and the Strawberry Blonde(not the exact name). They have their sister company, Wm Van’s(a coffee place) right next door where we saw people bringing their beers for a game of bocci or bags. Highly recommend!

After a very good tour of the Lincoln Home and the Monument, we went to Obed and Isaac’s for a local craft beer. After ordering our beers and looking over the menu we decided to eat there. In addition to trying some local beer, eating at the Chili Parlor, we had decided we needed to sample a horseshoe while in Springfield. I was the only one who had had one previously. We all liked our beers. Ms T and I each had IPA’s, different ones, but both good. Our experience with horseshoes was a little different. We strayed from the traditional ground beef and probably should not have done that. I ordered corned beef and was surprised to get real corned beef brisket. It was actually pretty good. I expected some shaved Boar’s Head fake«corned beef». Combined with the white cheese sauce they make, this reminded me of dried beef gravy on toast. It was fine. The fries topping the«shoe» at O&I are heavily encrusted with the popular potato varnish. I would prefer honest French fries, but Ms T likes these, so to each his(or her) own. My cup of chili was not good; over loaded with cumin and using kidney beans. I had to try once, but not again. The D’s and Ms T were all talked into Smoked Turkey for the meat on their horseshoes. The waiter bragged about it being smoked in house. This was a big disappointment to all of them and to me as well when I tasted Ms T’s plate. The turkey was just thin sliced deli meat like you buy at any supermarket with no detectable smoke and in fact tasted like that same supermarket turkey breast when you have it in your fridge a little too long. Any smoke flavor it might have had was lost in the cheese sauce. This is the one that really could have been from the Boar’s Head truck. None of us could recommend the smoked turkey. Obed and Isaac’s is part of large hospitality group and it certainly feels that way, big and commercial. We went because it is the only local craft beer in Springfield, at least that we could find. We probably should have ordered burgers. The famous horse shoes may just not be our thing. 3−½ for the beers and 2 stars for our food.

My Pub Burger and fries were tasty enough to make me want to return, but only if I had a different waiter. He was friendly… too friendly to the point of being obnoxious. He crossed the line with me, with over-the-top enthusiasm. Clearly, he was trolling for a big tip. I get it, pal. Yeah, you’re gregarious and all, but you try too hard. Take my order, bring me what I ordered, but lower the volume a bit on your happiness machine. You don’t have to be maudlin, but geez, you’re a bit too happy-go-lucky. I’m not directing the summer stock theater production and this isn’t an audition. Be like the bartender at the Bennigan’s at the Springfield Hilton. Smile, keep it professional and low-key. She didn’t call me «boss» or «chief» or pretend I was an old high school classmate she hadn’t seen in 20 years. Service aside, the food’s above average. Yeah, I’ll be back, but not sitting in your section. I wanted to try the beer, but had a long drive that night. Next time, when I have a designated driver.

Obed & Isaacs is perfect for comfort food and beer! I met a friend at the bar on a recent visit to my home state. You can expect the bar to be bustling & the bartenders to be helpful, but busy. As a Denverite, I visit my fair share of great breweries these days, so I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their beer. The coffee stout was full-bodied and delicious. Their cider was tangy & not overly sweet, and even the Hefeweiss impressed me coming from a microbrewery in the middle of nowhere! After a few drinks, the kitchen’s aroma made us want to stuff our faces, so we ordered the soft pretzels and a buffalo chicken horseshoe. Those soft pretzels nearly melted in my mouth! And the horseshoe was worth every ounce of guilt and the some odd 1,000 calories that I’m sure was in it. You should know in advance that everything on the menu is going to be excessive & swimming in calories, but it is also going to make you forget all of life’s problems, if only for 15 minutes. To top it all off, the brewery is situated in an old, bright white, statuesque building in the middle of downtown. It’s character adds to the entire atmosphere and I’m so glad I stumbled upon this place.

My daughter and her husband thought this would be a fun place to grab brunch after she finished the Fight for Air Stair Climb Challenge. We arrived around 12:30 still right at the peak for brunch. The place was not crazy busy yet… people were waiting when we left. They have a pretty good microbrewery beer selection. My son in law chose the Coffee Brown Ale and his dad at the Ditzy Blonde(I am not impressed with that name). We ordered two Bloody Marys and a mimosa. The drinks were delicious, which was good because our server disappeared. Apparently according to the kids service is a hit or miss at this place. It was nice that everyone at the table ordered something different. I got the Papa Corn Special(which was deep fried breaded French toast and bacon). We also got the apple cinnamon waffles, which were very tasty and pleasing to the eye. We got a horseshoe that stuck to his ribs and fingers. We also had a Italian beef Panini with enough fries for all five of us to share. Food five stars Service four stars.
