This place is just wonderful. There are places with shade and places without. It’s a very big place, so you have to really look around to notice all of your options. For example, there is a concrete floored pavillion, but it is located a long walk from the spectacular hosta garden — which is very close to a huge lake/pond.
It’s free!
People bike and run. I think there is a play area for little kids to climb on. There are benches in the shade and others in the sun.
I think the larger bike path, which runs throughout the city, goes right through here, but I’m not a biker and am uncertain.
At one point there was a fee to enter the Japanese Stroll garden. Not sure if that is still the case.
Oh, about parking. There are two areas to park. One you will see right when you enter the park, sorta. Another you reach after meandering a bit.
