I stopped by here in despair. I had been sold a hair piece at another shop but I hated it. It was styled all wrong and too much for my small face. These ladies knew exactly what I needed. Joi styled it and it looked so natural and was so light to wear. I wore it to a party. The first words out of everyone’s mouth when I walked in was«wow, your hair looks great!» I told a few close friends that it was actually a hair piece and they could not believe it! Thanks to all the ladies in the store for helping me. The service was outstanding. I will be back!

My wife and I stopped in this morning because I needed a wig she could be happy seeing me in. The service and selection were so good that we ended up with two! The most amazing thing was walking in and getting instantly looked over and provided a recommendation. The very first pick they chose was the perfect cut and color for me. Even after that, the options just kept flying into the private room to make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. Several more would have been more than good enough but one of the others was also too good to pass up! The post selection styling was quick and a great extra value to really make the wigs fit my face. If I need any other wigs while in the DC area I’ll definitely be back. I can add that based on my experience, and what I’ve heard from several friends, that Joi Wigs is incredibly trans friendly. Don’t worry if you have nerves, you’ll be very well and respectfully taken care of.

I was recommended Joi Wigs by my oncologist’s office while I was undergoing chemotherapy. It was a very stressful time for me but the ladies at Joi Wigs were very helpful and patient. I was there quite a while with my mom and we never felt rushed. I kept taking off, trying back on, over and over and both ladies helping me were fabulous. They helped me pick a wig I did not want to buy and it turned out to be great. The color and cut matched my hair just as it was before I started treatment. They were not pushy in any way and I felt very comfortable at the store. I was really happy with my purchase despite my situation and would recommend this salon to others.

If you’re looking for a high quality wig, this customer-oriented shop has the greatest selections to choose from! They will kindly and patiently assist you in finding a style that flatters your individual features and coloring. Once you’ve decided on a specific wig, it can then be trimmed around your face and head to customize it for your individual wear. You’ll want to refer others!

I ran into Joi Wigs after a self-inflicted straightening disaster that turned my natural grey hair green. I’m not talking about a trendy green either — I’m 75! It looked more like a cat threw up on my head. Anyway, this salon is WONDERFUL! Despite my jokes at my own expense, I was pretty depressed about spending the hot DC summer in baseball caps. From the minute I walked in, these women were professional, friendly and, most importantly, very skilled. The stylist/owner worked on my wig for an hour to make it look close to my pre-green hair. The result is so pretty that I may wear a wig forever! Thanks, Joi Wigs, for restoring my sanity and good humor! Sandy Wagner, who will never straighten her own hair again.

I visited this place briefly, during the last week of October. I was leaving in a few days to San Francisco and I wanted a wig for halloween… and ended up shopping for a regular one. i have bleached blonde hair. i’m always changing my hair color and sometimes i don’t get into the salon right away… so i wanted a nice wig for when my roots become too long. I was greeted immediately and asked if I needed any help. They were super friendly, patient, and informative. I had a lot of questions about cleaning and styling. The place looked clean and organized. They really took the time to show and tell me a little bit about the different styles I was interested in. If I’m ever back in town, I would definitely visit this place again! Thank you so much!

Interesting experience. The woman who assisted my mom was oddly caustic considering my mother came in after finishing chemotherapy to find a temporary solution for her hair loss. After insulting the hair my mom had before she lost it,(«No style») she continued and said that with the wig my mother spent a considerable amount(read: a comma in the price tag) on made her look«normal again.» It is incredibly insulting as well as brash considering the implication is that being a cancer survivor makes you look anything other than normal is not only ignorant but a plebian infomercial-esque testimonial fit only for someone with little to emotional reasoning. Peppered with unsolicited insight on cancer and astoundingly bizarre anecdotes(such as «Asians have flat heads») simply witnessing the whole thing was so grim it bordered on mythological. This would have been bad enough on it’s own, but after my sister posted a similar review on the salon(read: dirty perm rods in the sink and seemingly no one with a new perm) the business had the audacity to personally call my mother to tell her to remove the review. Not the person who made the review, but my mother who was too much of a lady to stand up to the service she was given. This isn’t a metaphor or turn of phrase, they actually called her and told her to take it down, sans apology. A quick note to Joi Wigs: please feel free to comment directly to this post as opposed to harassing my mother again, so the public can see an honest view of the company before making such an impactful purchase. You owe them that much. I will happily give you my phone number, my email address and a print out of all the ways this could have been handled professionally. Let’s be very clear. Closing thoughts: Stop by if are tired of having a grand in your pocket and like the way insults sound rolling off of the tongue of business owners who make house calls to personally harass cancer survivors. Peace.

Horrible customer service. The asian woman who I believe was the owner was extremely rude and pushy to my family the entire visit. I came in with my family to help find a wig for my mother who has experienced hair loss due to chemotherapy and this women made the entire experience unpleasant. She started out by asking to a see a picture of my mother’s hair before in order to pick a similar style and then proceeded to insult it saying that it was a «flat haircut with no style» and that she would pick a wig for her that was«better» than her hair before. I was appalled at the statement especially since my mother JUST finished her chemotherapy and found the statement to be extremely insensitive and flat out rude. The rest of the visit consisted of her making more insulting and snarky comments to me and my brother and when my mother had finally settled on a VERY expensive wig, this woman attempted to get my mother to buy a second wig in order to have more«options». Her attempt to make an even bigger sale was completely transparent. Overall, I do not recommend this place to anyone, especially those of who have experienced hair loss due to chemotherapy. This woman will only make the experience for those unpleasant during a time that is already sensitive. The hair quality of the wig was decent but frankly overpriced due to the poor craftmanship of the front lace area and completely unsubtle knots at the hair line. She apparently wasn’t careful enough when trimming the lace because she ended up cutting some hair along with it which left several random short hairs right at the front. Ridiculous. Again, deplorable service – I DONOTRECOMMEND. In fact, I was personally offended by the woman and the entire experience.

One of my dear friends was diagnosed about 2 years ago. She came here for a wig after being referred by her doctor’s office. I went along for moral support and boy was that an experience full of tears and empowerment. Suki and her staff were so accommodating and supportive. They understand how painful a cancer diagnosis is and they helped my friend find herself again. They treated her with such dignity and respect, which I know she appreciated. They showed her how to care for the wig and adjusted it so it would fit properly after taking time to find the right one for her. After the initial visit, she came back to buzz her hair, she did it before it all fell out, and looked wonderful in her wig. It’s like the wig gave her some spunk back that the chemo had taken away. People at work didn’t know if it was or wasn’t. Two years later, she’s in remission and so appreciative of the experience she had at joi wig!

My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer a few months ago and was told she would need a few rounds of chemo. I wanted to make her feel at ease, so I searched for wig shops and I found Joi. I took her and we waited for about 10 minutes before being seen. There were two people there before us. Instantly my mom found a wig she liked and she purchased it. The sales lady was great, doing all the work for her, putting the cap on her head, then the wig, then styling the wig a little. After purchasing she told my mom that they could shave her head if she wanted it and that any other services like styling, cutting, etc would be covered under the price she paid for the wig. My mom paid about $ 400 for a short wig, but the quality is great, it doesn’t itch and it looks totally natural. I’m thinking about getting myself a wig for parties, etc so I don’t have to run out and get my hair done constantly. Anyways, during a really tough time, Joi Wig really came through and I’ll be forever grateful.
