Fine Wine & Good Spirits

This is (was?) the largest state store in Delco. Parking is much easier in the back than in the front, but be careful of hours when the back doors are locked. Yes, the store has two totally different entrances. It shares a building with Block Jewelers. Not sure why, but not once but TWICE have drivers crashed cars into the front of this store.

I went in specifically looking for Meyers’ Rum. Everyone has Meyers’ rum… Umm, except here. I asked the manager, if there was maybe a case in the back, and nobody re-​stocked it? Nope.
This store is also relatively small; don’t expect to find much other than the major wine labels and a few … very few… wines specifically from PA. You’d think they would want to highlight the state’s vinticulture?
If you’re in the neighborhood, and need liquor/​wine quick, otherwise…

Chairman selection’s are okay, in my mind the one in Ardmore is the top dog, but if in the area this one will do. Drexel Hill location is better, just sucks with parking due to Chickie’s & Pete’s. I rank it in my top 3.

I recently had a very strange experience at this store. I am used to being occasionally carded as I do look young, but at this store the cashier scanned my id, printed a receipt with all of my info on it (including height and eye color) and made me sign it before he would check me out. When I questioned if this was a new system for 2012 he told me it has been that way forever. I have been buying booze in PA for 4 years (with an out of state id until a little over a year ago) and this is the first time I had this experience. It really weirded me out and I will not be coming back to this store if I can help it. I am thankful that the stores in the city are too busy to enforce something backwards like this.
In general though, they seemed to have a nice selection and be fairly organized.
