I am making this review solely based on the cashew chicken and crab Rangoon. I grew up in Springfield and moved out to San Diego a few years ago. Every time I go home I try at least 4 or 5 different cashew chicken spots in town. I would consider myself a true Springfield chicken connoisseur! So with that said I thought the cashew chicken here was by far the best! The all white meat chicken was plump and juicy and nicely battered to achieve a good crunchy crust. The sauce was the true achievement here! Some places seem to make their sauces heavy on the oyster sauce which I do not prefer. I like sauces that are a rich, brown, nutty sauce that seems to have a better base of chicken stock and that is what kind of sauce they served. The crab Rangoon was also good. They were crispy and had a good amount of filling. They did not put any cashews or green onions on the chicken, I’m not sure if they forgot it but it was still delicious! Highly recommend trying! If your getting it to go, get the sauce on the side! Put it on when you get home to keep the chicken crispy!

This is a convenient place for a quick bit of pseudo-Asian on the way from Branson to Springfield or if you are visiting Wilson’s Creek nearby. Their food is pretty good, if not what I would expect. It tasted a little less Asian than I anticipated. The portions are good-sized and a very good value for the money. The service is good and quite friendly. The diet Pepsi was flat, but the staff was very apologetic and offered alternatives, and vowed they would correct the deficiency they acknowledged. Can’t really ask for more than that. So the bottom line is this. If want a good meal, if not very authentic, this is a great value and recommended. If you are a discriminating Asian food fan, you might be disappointed.

A frequent customer of China Wok, my girlfriend and I ate there Monday night. The food was good however, a young girl working there at the cash register didn’t seem to be enjoying her job. After we sat down, we asked her for some straws for our drinks and she said yes you can go get those at the counter they were there when you ordered. Later, she walked right past our table after going to the restroom and didn’t even asked to fill my water glass. When I said thank you, she grunted basically. We were disappointed with her lack of service and poor attitude.

I’ve been a connoisseur of cashew chicken for decades. this restaurant is incredibly different in many ways, it’s simply delivers a chicken that is larger moist and that the gravy is has a greater depth. why Lucy’s still beats this place out is beyond me.

In a town with an abundance of good Chinese cuisine restaurants China Wok is one of my favorites. I like the Cashew Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and the Orange Chicken. Their Crab Rangoon’s are probably some of my favorite in town. There isn’t anything fancy about this place but that’s what I like about it. The place makes you feel like you’re in a small own diner; the establishment is pretty small. The restaurant is clean. The staff are always friendly.

Found a short black hair in my take-out. But it is so damn good I didn’t stop eating. Gross yes. Too gross, no. Great food therefor I am viewing this as a minor slip up. What is more embarrassing? The hair or me admitting I kept eating my cashew chicken? I really like this place.

This is our Friday night take-out of choice. We typically order the same entrees and are always happy with the consistency of the freshness and quality of the food. When taking the orders, the server usually suggests 15 – 20 minutes for pickup, however, we have learned to wait at least 30 minutes before leaving to pick up. Usually the order is ready upon arrival, however, there have been times we waited several minutes for the orderl – but the food is always good, so we keep coming back!

I give it a 3 because the food is good, but the customer service is horrible. Everything from answering phones, to speedyness off your order bring delivered. One time I went to go pick it up at the restaurant, and it still took 30 min after I got there.

I like simple american Chinese and china wok is just that. My favorite dish here is the sesame chicken. The chicken is fried quite well and stays crispy for a long time. That said be prepare to wait for your order or call ahead. Without being in the kitchen I get the impression that the chicken is fried to order which accounts for the wait time. I’m ok with this. The impatient gotta have it now folks may be turned of by this. I like their version of hot and sour soup. With crunchy noodles of course. Overall portions of the soup, and main dish are ample. Most times I can get 2 meals out of a regular order. So value for dollar is high. The dining area is just some tables in a waiting area so I feel like this is a take out spot. Nice for a simple night in. They also now do delivery which I’m going to have to check out.

I’m pretty sure there are 3 or 4 Asian families that own all the Chinese food places in Springfield. China Wok may be the exception. When I order sesame chicken I actually have to wait a few minutes since they make the food to order instead of just grabbing a handful of Mcdonalds chicken nuggets that are sitting under a warming light in the kitchen. The crab rangoon are bite size and very tasty. Though, being so small 6 would be preferable to just 3 on a combo. Service is ok. They could benefit from another cashier during busy times as the line goes out the door at times. Good for what it is, Chinese take out. There are 100 places like this in spfd, but china wok sets up a bit higher due to freshness and difference.

Love their general chicken and garlic chicken. Overall, it is on the top 5 or so of my list. And they DELIVER! Definitely a plus if you live nearby! They have HUGE chunks of chicken in all their white meat dishes(the fried pieces). I usually have to take 3 – 4 bites of a single chunk of chicken. I hate to say it, but if you’re looking for Awesome Springfield Cashew chicken, Pine Garden is the way to go.

Best carry out cashew chicken in town! You get Hugh chunks of chicken as opposed to a bunch of little pieces of fried breading with a small amount of meat in the middle! Call ahead and it will be ready when you get there.

Possibly the best crab rangoon in town! Sesame chicken is great too! However, the staff are somewhat rude and no substitutions allowed(Even when you offer to pay whatever it cost to do so). Careful with the carry out containers. They don’t shut well and sauce usually ends up everywhere.

I used to LOVE China Wok. Until our take out melted through the Styrofoam containers burning me more than once. Until I found out when I asked if chicken stock was in the sauce that I was lied to previously when told it was not. Come on… how hard would it be to offer vegan options? We used to eat there at least once a week(Chinese take out night paired with movies every friday) But won’t ever again.

I have been trying to find a good Chinese food place since i moved here in May, and finally believe i’ve found one! My dad and I ate here last night, it’s priced just like any other Chinese sit down place. The food was sOooOooOo yummy! We had steamed Wontons, Crabragoon, Eggrolls, and a couple different entrees. I was very pleased and will definitly be going back there from now on when i get my craving for some good Chinese! Yummy, yummy, yum!

For me, the POT-STICKERS are just about great. A little overpowering so don’t go for them every other day; but they’re an inexpensive treat if you want a snack. I’ve only had the chicken a couple of times and it wasn’t really memorable except that it was fairly crunchy on the outside which was pleasant. It always looks like they need about three more people working than they have, but the ones they have don’t have to join a gym because they do plenty of hustling. Kudos to the staff for keeping up with rushes.

Doug’s Awesome Springfield Cashew Chicken Tour…5000 continues with China Wok. This place is a little bit out of the way for me, but I gotta search ‘em all out. Luckily its in between TWO Price Cutters so you can at least get some nice beer for cheap there if you don’t like your meals. I’m not sure if I’m beginning to love or loathe the fact that all these places are starting to look the exact same. You know what they look like so I’ll spare the details, with the exception of this one having a bathroom that is located in the long, maze like recesses of the back of the restaurant. I might arrange for a sherpa to accompany me the next time in case I come across danger from an irate kitchen staff or one of the geriatrics who seem to live in the restaurant. Anyways, let’s talk about food. I got the Cashew Chicken of course. I really liked the fact that they anticipate my understandable disgust for the egg roll and have 6 Wantons or 3 Crab rangoon available to substitute, which I totally went for. The lady went for the chicken fried rice and wontons. After a fairly long wait, noticing the SILENT elderly clientele, and the large amount of call in business, we got our food. Her rice was more brown and fried than most places, which is a good thing, but lacked some essential veggies; like carrots, or white onions, but had some nice green onions. My rice was also slightly browned, getting my hopes up that it was actually wok-fried, but I was soon disappointed. Some day some place will serve wor-fried rice AND fried chicken, without me asking for it. The sauce had the thickest consistency on the tour thus far and the chicken was nicely fried so that it stayed crispy throughout the entire meal(almost like a good KFC batter) despite the sauce seeming to seek and destroy every morsel on my plate. My rice ended up being pretty disappointing, despite the copious amounts of green onions. Like all these damn places, there is no seasoning what so ever. A little sea salt and cracked pepper would do wonders for this food, which is why I am bringing my own from now on. By the end of the meal my rice was pretty gross, now that it was coated with the cold cashew sauce, which honestly, seems to be quite flavorless across the board. I think its just something to distract us with for some reason. The chicken however was as good as I can ask for. Our wontons were a bit smaller than usual, and were very thin. They really reminded me of homemade tortilla chips with some kind of meat inside. Even though they lacked sized, they were still decent, with the exception that they left a weird, MSG-y type film in my mouth… but I’d still rather have those than an egg roll. So whatevs. Overall, this place is really not that bad for a quick Chinese food fix. The portions are good for the price and the food seems to be prepared fairly freshly. The chicken stands the test of the meal time and the last piece is still edible even though its been sitting in sauce. I suggest getting the rice on the side in order to control the sauciness of it. I wouldn’t say that its«I’m a fan”-4 Stars super great. I’m thinking that indeed, this place is A-OK. Sure as hell better than China Star.
