Captain Craig’s Seafood Market

Unfortunately, this place has been in a downhill slide for a few years now. I am sure it must be a difficult task to manage an inventory of fresh seafood in the Midwest, but the customer’s expectation is to find things here that are not commonly available in regular grocery stores. The two ladies running it have gone from being friendly and helpful to downright surly at times. It is hit and miss as far as the hours of operation; you definitely can’t go by the posted hours. The selection of fresh fish has been dwindling along with the friendliness, At times there is an overwhelming smell in the store that is enough to turn you away from seafood altogether. I really love having a local place to buy quality seafood, but my gut is telling me it is time to look elsewhere.

Craig and Becky are the best. The seafood is always fresh, a great variety and they will search for anything you might want. Imagine getting squid and octopus here in Springfield — what a treat.
