Whenever I’m on the thrifting/antiquing/furniture hunt, this is the FIRST stop I make in Springfield. The previous reviewers are on-the-ball with what they’ve mentioned – the selection is always excellent, the prices cannot be beat, and the owners are truly some of the nicest people to chat with while I’m there. I’ve purchased several things from Cricket, but my favorites(to date) are the gorgeous mid-century desk and dining table with chairs that I purchased in the last year. They are some treasured pieces of mine that aren’t in the least bit wobbly or worn out. I will not be letting these pieces go anytime soon. They’re also very accommodating with helping to load any larger items you’ve purchased and hold on to big furniture pieces you need to come back to get the next day. When I bought my dining table, there were actually two additional leaves that I forgot to take with me. They held on to them for two weeks for me until I was able to come get them, which was too generous of them! TIP: Be sure to follow them on Facebook and Instagram – they post different items on each social media site, and they update regularly so you can see their stock as it changes. This is usually the first place I see items I’m interested in checking out.

Holy surprise retro furniture finds, Batman! A Cricket in the House is a great place to go for nice, affordable retro/antique pieces of furniture. The first time I came here, I left with a $ 60 midcentury dining table with like, a million inserts, and the second time I came here I left with a $ 130 midcentury desk that is one of my favorite furntiure pieces to date. A good chunk of the store is dedicated to retro pieces(obviously my personal favorite) but you’ll also find lovely antiquated bookcases, desks, and dressers from all sorts of eras, as well as irresistable knick knacks, dishware, and glass items. The owners are clearly choosy with their inventory, and as a person who constantly sniffs around Springfield being disapp The owners are incredibly nice and helpful with moving, which is always welcome when you’re dreading huffing and puffing over an item that weighs a ton, and I really can’t stress enough how affordable the prices are. I love it and you will too if you visit.

Today my mom & I did our«Black Friday» rendezvous downtown, away from the crazies. Though this store didn’t have many things I was looking for, my mom really loved it. They had a selection of beautiful furniture at reasonable prices — I’m just not in the market for furniture right now — as well as some holiday décor and smaller vintage items in great condition. While we were there, we had a very pleasant visit with the owners! Open and genuine, they were happy to help in any way they could; they invited us to ask if there was ever any piece we were searching for; though they couldn’t guarantee they would find it, they said they would try! I believe she also mentioned they have an option for painting/restoring pieces that need a little work. Overall a very good visit and worth a look.
