We were in town visiting family for the holidays and my husband needed a haircut(he’s picky when it comes to these kind of things). Found Woodard on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. The guys were nice and talkative. The haircut was good. Will be coming back if we are ever in town again.

These guys just get it done, plain and simple. They are brothers, and their dad before them started the business. The outside of the building(and inside) is not the most appealing, however don’t let that fool you!!! Great prices, great convo, and great guys. You may have to wait 5 – 10 minutes depending on how busy they are. My family has been going here time and time again for 30+ years. Definitely give the Woodard brothers a try!

These brothers are carrying on the family tradition. Their father was the barber at this location for years and years and it’s nice to see these men following in their father’s foot steps. As others have pointed out in Unilocal reviews, these are the nicest guys and they do a good job for a fair price. They sure look like brothers too. I used to enjoy going in and waiting for my son to get his hair cut but he’s getting old enough now that he prefers not to have mom with him and I am glad he’s getting the experience of an «old school» barber shop. A lot of young men are growing up without ever knowing what it’s like to get their hair cut in a traditional barber shop as shops like Woodard’s are no longer in abundance. Barbershops can be a great source of camaraderie between guys and unfortunately there aren’t now as many places for that as there once was. Typically barbershops are no frills masculine places(Woodard’s is absolutely that), and uniquely male gathering spots. There used to be a lot of barber shops in the Emma Avenue area and Woodard’s is now one of only two remaining shops of which I am aware. The other one I know of is located next to the abandoned Apollo Theater at 312 W Emma Avenue. I believe it is called Mason’s Old Time Barber Shop but growing up in Springdale it used to be called the Kings Den. I remember going into that shop with a friend and his dad and if memory serves me the barber’s name was Derl Howerton. My dad was a regular at another brother-owned and operated barbershop that used to be located at 316 E Emma Avenue. It was called Clyde and Bill’s Barber Shop(now it’s a business called«The Drum Pad»). I wish that place had survived for the Woodard boys to take over as it had a really great old barber shop feel, complete with a shoe shine stand and lots of old men sitting around«chewing the fat». It could have come right out of an episode of The Andy Griffin Show.

I used to go to this place all the time! I’ve since moved out of the area, but nowhere compares. The place is run by two brothers, and they know what they are doing. For $ 10 flat, you will get the best haircut you’ve ever had. They are very good at what they do, and nice people besides. They function like something out of Andy Griffith, trading news and stories as fast as you can ask about it, and they always offer a free massage. Polite, great haircut, and great price. What more could you ask for in a barber shop?
