Wow! This place is exactly how the other Unilocalers said it was! This is a family run restaurant and we were greeted by the owner and her brother. Seriously nice people. We started off with chips and 2 types of salsa, yum! We asked if they had anything hotter and we were given a little cup of very spicy salsa. Like, «Burn up your mouth, why did I do that, I’m going to have some more!» salsa! We shared the enchiladas with chicken, goat and cheese. All were amazing. The beans were black beans and oh so flavorful, but the best was the side of Pico de Gallo, man it was so full of flavor that i just ate it up so fast! The owner told us that if you don’t see it on the menu, just ask and her husband, who is the chef, can make it! Love it. I will truly be coming back here. They are expanding, so don’t let the small dining room scare you. Last note — Homemade tortillas!!!

Have you ever heard of the famous saying«the best food is found in unlikely places»? Or the so called«hole in the wall». This place«el rinconcito» the little corner has proven to me be any doubt to be anything but a small corner. They are top of the line with great authentic Mexican taste from the state of Guerrero you know down there in Acapulco. You must come and taste for your self this best kept secret in San Diego.

Found the best little place! The food is made with love and is to die for great home cooked Mexican. The chef and his sister are so warm and genuinely happy to serve us. My husband had the Birria de Res. Perfection! And oh my, the homemade tortillas are melt in your mouth outstanding! I couldn’t decide and asked the chef to surprise me. What arrived in front of me was a very soulful and surprising dish he called his jambalaya. Made with pasta instead of rice, depth of flavor was beautiful. Just a little tiny gem!

This little new eatery located at the base of Dictionary Hill in the unincorporated community of Spring Valley is providing some good eats. I stopped in after work and long meeting for dinner and ordered the Three Tacos«Dorados» or hard shell tacos, two with shredded beef and one with similar chicken. The plate also came with the staple rice and beans for $ 5.99. The meal also came with corn tortilla chips and house made salsa brought to the table. The tacos were quite good and were prepared similar to the way they are prepared in inner Mexico with added«crema» and finely grated salty and strong flavored and scented Cotija cheese. I liked the shredded beef tacos not only because of the for mentioned, but the beef had great flavor via its seasoning and general braising. Both tacos came with a modest amount, a little more would of been terrific, but the quality of the beef was there, and combined with the crema, Cotija, lettuce, onions, and some of the red hot salsa from the table, well I was a happy camper. I would like to not that they be careful when frying up the tacos and try to make sure they come out evenly fried. Some portions of the shell’s were just right and others overdone. The chicken tacos was equally as good or perhaps even better in my opinion. The chicken is this taco was finely chopped and very tender and moist. It’s flavor was mild but accentuated by the crema, Cotija, and scallions. I actually think this combination worked even better than the beef, not to take anything away from the beef tacos of course, but just that the ingredients sang together better with the chicken. The rice was very good, but the beans were a little dry. The rice had that great Mexican tomato and garlic flavor and was properly prepared. It was loose and flavor with a even cook to all the rice kernels. Well done, but like I said the beans could of used some work. They offered a very good robust flavor and were well seasoned, but they were just to dry to be plated. I wish they would of added some liquid to them. Service was quite attentive and familiar to a small place that wished to expand in the near future. Another words, they make you feel at home and want you to come back! I plan to as well, to try the Pozole and Menudo.

Oh yeah… they get it right every time. Their birria IMMEDIATELY cures the nastiest hangover. The staff is friendly, welcoming and appreciates the business they get. The food is superior to everything else in the area. I’ve never had a bad experience and I eat there almost every Sunday morning.

Delicious chivo birria! Great service. My favorite is the quesachivo. This spot changed owners not long ago and has greatly improved. The green salsa is excellent.

The quality of food of this place is impressive. The birria is always on point, tried it on tacos, sopes, enchiladas, and just recently in fresh rolled tacos.delicious. Oh last but not least the pastas and soups are amazing! My husband is from the east coast and is very impressed with their clam chowder. Felicidades por tan buen gusto.

This food was the best authentic Mexican food I ever had. Really delicious tacos de barrel, the best plate I had here I totally recommend is the tricky chicken plate. Have to come and try it.
