What a great local pub! I come here often. I love the great drinks and the food menu is outstanding! I can never go wrong with the lamb sliders. Quite honestly, I have never hand any bad food here. The small size location quickly fills with friendly people, so you’ve got to get here early. Once in awhile they have fallen off on their service when dining, however it’s a great spot. See you at Da Green!

Definitely as good as it gets. Our daughter’s new in-laws hosted their wedding rehearsal dinner here. St. Stephen’s accommodated us all VERY comfortably. Partitions were drawn for privacy. Staff and food were excellent! Top Notch! My glass was never empty and all guests were Wowed! Definitely recommend the Lobster Mac N’ Cheese! Thanks so much St. Stephen’s Green Publick House for making this night a hit!

I would have given it 5 stars, but they let one of the best bartenders go. Food is good if you’re into Irish Pub Food. Staff is friendly.

We have stopped at St. Stephen’s Green on several occasions and have enjoyed our choices very much. Today, John and I both ordered the Railbender, a sandwich of brisket topped with cheddar and caramelized onions on a dense, chewy baguette. The sandwiches are accompanied by au jus broth, horseradish sauce, and a small portion of excellent cole slaw with a few pickle slices. A choice of seasoned fries, sweet potato fries, or garden salad come with the sandwich as a side.(I opted for salad with blue cheese dressing, John opted for the fries.) The sandwiches were delicious. The beef was tender and flavorful. The toppings and sauces added an additional delicious layer to the taste. The salad was fresh but typical, consisting of iceberg lettuce, grape tomatoes, shreds of carrot, and sliced onion. John’s seasoned fries were a more tantalizing option — they were hot, slightly spicy, and had a nice crust on them. On an earlier visit, I’d ordered the Irish Breakfast, which was huge and included black and white«puddings»(think sausage, not custard). We both ordered drinks. John had a rum and coke, and I ordered a draft Blonde Guiness. Big PLUS — St. Stephen’s serves HALF pints as well as pints.(A much appreciated option. I hate to leave beer behind, but a pint is often more than I am comfortable drinking. A half pint is just right.) The décor is relaxing. The paneling and furnishings are of dark wood, vintage pub advertisements adorn the walls, and small fireplaces give a rustic and cozy feel to the spaces. The four star rating is a strong four, since the food is quite satisfying. What would have kicked this up to a five star for me? A little more inventiveness with the salad, a slightly larger portion of cole slaw and pickles would have been nice(consider this a compliment), but in the main, the beer/cider list could have included a few more UK options — either on draft or in bottles. Although we have never timed our visit when there is live Irish music, we would have appreciated Irish music playing in the background instead of the classic rock that was serenading us today. All in all, the suggestions highlight minor issues. We enjoy stopping at St. Stephen’s Green Publick House when we are in the vicinity and will certainly continue to make this one of our favorite haunts when we are in the area.

This is my go-to place where I know I can always get a reliably tasty meal. If you stick with the classics — potato skins, potato pancakes, corned beef egg rolls, potato and leek soup for appetizers; shepherds pie and chicken pot pie for entrees; and bread pudding for dessert — you can’t go wrong. However I always want to try new things and have been left disappointed more times than I’d like to admit. But I have a soft spot for this place, the buzzing atmosphere, live music, and generally attentive staff! I’ll keep going back for more Irish fare.

The pumpkin ale is very good. We got the shrimp appetizer which was very unique and tasty. The shrimp was wrapped in some sorta potato string fries. I would definitely get that again. Entrees was very large and can be shared. My wife ordered the meatloaf and barely put a dent in it. I got the pastrami sandwich with the sweet potato fries. Fries was very crispy and fresh. The sand which was a little bit salty for my taste. Overall, will definitely come back and try other items on the menu. I was too full to try any desserts.

My wife and I had lunch here on a Friday in mid October. Our young waitress was very slow and forgetful, so I was unhappy. She forgot to bring the beer I ordered, and then after I reminded her, she came back and told me that the keg was empty and I needed to choose a different beer — but by then, we were finishing our meal. She offered no apologies for the mix-ups, and in fact she acted like she was doing everything right. I was extremely annoyed. My food was OK though, and my wife’s Shepherd’s Pie was excellent. Décor is very nice. The place is upscale, more expensive than average, and quite attractive.

Was in the area and was looking for someone to eat and found this gem! Had to wait for a table, they said it would be about 40 minutes and it was only about 20 so was happy about that, sat down and looked at the menu and everything looked AWESOME! I got the Irish Onion soup, which was sooo good and the Irish dip, which was melt in your mouth good. My husband loved his meal too! Even though its about 1 hour away from our home, we will come back!

Basic pub with pretty good food(including gluten free options, yay!) and several craft beers available. We went on a night with a band, which was great because I love live music. I couldn’t hear myself think, but it was a good time!

We have passed this place many times yet for some reason never ventured in. This past weekend we finally decided to go inside. The place looks very nice with a little outdoor patio outside of the front door that you could wait at for a table or eat your meal. Once you walk in there’s a warm feeling of a traditional style pub with lots of woodwork and vintage looking fixtures. The hostess, after being MIA for a solid 8 minutes came over and instead of asking us how many was in our party, just gave us the longest most awkward stare — ever. After she peered deep in to the back of our skulls she informed us for a party of four there would be a wait(no timeframe) and walks away. After another few minutes she comes back and let’s us know a table has opened. As we proceed to walk with her we are forced to do a 180 and go back to the front because the other section was reserved for a private party, back to waiting. Waiting, waiting, waiting… watching open tables. Finally we are seated after about 15 more minutes. Our server comes by, super friendly takes our drink and appetizer order. Complimentary soda bread and Lamb Sliders($ 10.95 for 3) comes out before our drinks do which I’m not sure how. They were cooked medium and were excellent and so was the bread. Our drinks came out and the server takes out meal order. If it wasn’t for her extreme pleasantness I would have probably complained because she would literally just disappear. No place settings, no asking for a refill nada. Food comes out thankfully and everyone starts to eat. Lobster Mac and cheese was awesome and a HUGE portion with TONS of lobster, it was worth the($ 24.95). Potato leek soup was very bland($ 4.50) wouldn’t order again. The Railbender sandwhich was a very nice twist on a French dip. I would definitely order again($ 11.95). The Dubliner($ 10.95) was also tasty and the roast beef was a perfect rare with carmelized onions. All in all the food was excellent, I would love to go again and hopefully the service would be better. Honestly I could give them the benefit of the doubt and maybe they were having bad days and it was a long shift but the bus boys were at our table more than our server was(although she was super friendly) honest we had a drink knocked over and not one waiter/waitress even bothered to stop and see if we needed a napkin. I had to go to the bathroom and grab towels so someone didn’t slip.

Any time I’m in Spring Lake I make sure to stop by St. Stephen’s. I usually prefer to sit at the tables by the bar or at the bar itself. The staff is always friendly and attentive, from the hostesses, bartenders, and the wonderful women that work the dining room floor. And the GM Jeremy is extremely accommodating and and personable. But the reason I keep going back is because of the food! My go to is the Chicken Murphy served sweet(the hot one is too spicy for me but still delicious), it’s a huge portion that always fills me up. Make sure you try the potato skins too because they have more bacon on them then any other skins I’ve ever had. Always remember to check the specials for the night as well. I was there one time last summer and they had Kobe Beef Sliders as an appetizer special with a «Tomato Jam»(glorified ketchup) and they were so out of this world that we decided against entrees and just got 3 more orders of sliders. Then we went back the next night and they were gone! The beers are always cold and they pour a perfect Guinness. The selection varies and sometimes is great while other times wanting. But if you’re looking for a great beer selection try Spring Lake Tap House down the street which is part owned by the people from St. Stephens.

My fiancé and I come down to spring lake once a year and are always looking for new places to add to our list. Simply put this place is a must — family warmth service, flavorful food, and leaves you wanting to come back and try what the rest of the menu has to offer. What we had: Potato Pancakes served with mangers apple sauce & sour cream. Wiskey BBQ Wings; would try then again but order well done sauce on the side. Rail bender sandwich– something I would never have order Chris talked me into it & we decided to split — would have it again in a heartbeat. The meat was like butter. & the horseradish mayo was a perfect blend of spice and cool.

The pub was picked for a little neighborhood get together. Rolled in 5ish and there was a nice crowd. A 45 minute wait, no problem, nice bar, Guinness is good. The time went quick and we were seated in the back. The dining room was full, a little noisy, but it was the din of people having fun. An assortment of food was ordered. Chicken murphy, fish and chips, haddock, shepherds pie, shrimp and scallops…5 of 6 came out together. One meal was lost in the mix and we had to get the server to find it. The meal was brought with explanation the boys brought the other plates before this meal was finished… so ours would have been cold? Hmmm. Oh well, the only issue. The food was all very good, I liked the soda bread and the hostess looked like she could have done a little Irish step if asked. I’d go back. There was a post about the staff being indifferent, I didn’t see it. Very nice crew.

I like this place a lot. Its warm, inviting atmosphere with its fireplaces and rustic wooden tables have made it one of our go-to spots during the wintertime along with its menu chock full of Irish comfort food options. We usually start out with the molten beer cheddar cheese crock that comes with fresh-baked Irish soda bread for dipping. I typically stick to the basics when it comes to the menu and opt for a sandwich. My favorite sandwich is the Irish Lass — a turkey sandwich topped with apples and brie on multigrain. Service is very friendly and attentive — Patty is the best! If you are seeking an authentic Irish pub with a lively ambiance, check out St. Stephen’s!

I came to Spring Lake with two of my friends during spring break and was recommended this restaurant by a hotel employee. We were so glad we came because everything was exceptionally delicious. I remember LOVING the house salad dressing. The portions were huge but we loved all the food we ordered.

On a date with my husband. We were greeted by a sweet hostess with red hair. We were quickly seated by the fireplace and Nancy our waitress promptly showed up. We ordered Blue Point oysters on a half shell for appetizer and I ordered a wyckman wrap and my husband ordered the Guinness beef stew. All the dishes were perfectly prepared and plentiful. Hubby ate his entire meal exclaiming, «now that was filling and delicious! » I had asked our waitress for extra bread to help hubby mop up the gravy but he had a spoon and went to town. The man loves his meat and potatoes. I had to have half of my wrap taken home. Portions are generous. Will definitely be back.

One of my favorite pubs«down the shore» in Spring Lake. I’ve been here many times and the service and food is always outstanding. Great fish and chips, Shepard’s Pie, and a good selection of Irish beers. Try the potato leek soup or the Red Reuben sandwich for lunch or dinner. Wash it down with a pint of Murphy’s Stout or a Killian. Their homemade meat loaf topped with mashed potatoes and Guinness laced mushrooms is to die for! Actually everything here is well prepared. The front bar can get crowded, so we always prefer to sit in one of the back dining rooms. There is also live entertainment a few nights a week with bands playing traditional Irish music. They have two private parking lots with plenty of parking for customers and being in a residential neighborhood it is nice to have that easy access, rather than metered or street parking.

The food is great everytime I come here. I typically get the Guinness Beef Stew, but have had other items as well(Shepard’s Pie, Bangers and Mash, pulled pork sliders…). The stew just always pulls me back in. It’s so good. They often have live entertainment as well. The few bands I have seen have been amazing.
