This place is so cool. We went to a wedding reception here and it was great. Beautiful outdoor area to host whatever event you need, then a beautiful main building. It has a huge deck with awesome views. Tons of windows and skylights to enjoy as well as a massive floor to ceiling fireplace. There was also a huge basement as well as a balcony! Beautiful wood throughout the place, reminded me of being in a really nice cabin retreat. The staff was very accomodating and friendly. This place gives any event a very intimate feeling.

I had my wedding at The Shores of Turtle Creek after having looked at countless(and I mean countless) other venues. We passed on Makray Golf Club as well as many other Golf Clubs because their service for the Bride and Groom left a few things to be desired. When we got to Turtle Creek I was done as soon as I walked in the room! I was going for Woodsy/Antique/Elegant…and wow does Turtle Creek nail it! The beautiful Stone fireplace as the focal point of the room(and double sided, to boot) is amazing. The wood walls are so cozy. It is not your typical banquet hall– which is exactly what I was trying to avoid. Ok– so it’s beautiful, but what about the service, you ask? Cheryl was wonderful. I have read some of the reviews on how she is a little relaxed in personality… and that is totally true. But that isn’t a bad thing! She doesn’t stress over little things, and in the end, that makes for a great person to be in charge on your wedding day(or other important event). I know i’m kind of jumping around, but the bottom line is on the day of your event, she is a no-nonsense, get it done-the right way kinda gal! She was amazing. Anyway– back to planning. The Shores of Turtle Creek, Cheryl and it’s staff went above and beyond for us. We made all of our own centerpieces, grew all our own flowers and brought in all of our own antiques for our décor the day of. I was so worried about when we would be able to bring all the stuff in as I certainly didn’t want to be doing it the morning of my wedding! We were able to come into the space the day before and drop everything off. We utilized the downstairs for cocktail hour, and the upstairs for the reception itself. She let us hunt through her«prop room» and use anything we wanted to aid our décor!(We didn’t use much because we had all our own, but it is still great to have that option). All the way up to the end, Cheryl was amazing. I believe it was about 3 days before our wedding, and we had wanted to have wine on the tables during dinner. However, my(now) husband had just lost his job… something we certainly didn’t see coming, and therefore didn’t have any more room in the budget to buy boxes of wine. Cheryl gave us a great deal on wine she already had so we could have exactly what we wanted. I really appreciated that! She didn’t have to do that. The night before our wedding Lori stayed(overnight i’m pretty sure) to iron all of our linens and napkins for our tables since there was a mess up at the Linen company who was supposed to have sent someone to do that… and didn’t. Now that is above and beyond. Our wedding day was smooth as silk. I walked into the space before all the guests did and literally started crying with how beautiful everything was. I would highly recommend the Shores of Turtle Creek to anyone. As a «panicky» bride… Cheryl is a great person to take a step back and calm you down!(oh…and there is a great bride’s room – which I totally forgot to use, darn it!).

Reading other reviews of this place, I’m kind of shocked. My husband and I attended a wedding here last weekend, and it was beautiful. Granted, the mother of the bride supplied all the handmade centerpieces, floral arrangements, candles, and decorations, but the venue itself was spotless and the staff were helpful and friendly but out of the way of the festivities. The grounds offer plenty of options for unique, gorgeous photos that capture the romance of a wedding, and the setting couldn’t be more rustic and picturesque. Usually, the audio at outdoor weddings leaves a lot to be desired, but not in this case. We heard every word the bride, groom, and minister spoke, and the live music was beautiful accompaniment. From what it looked like, they are very open to letting the bride and groom personalize the space, as evidenced by the aforementioned decorations the mother of the bride had all over the place. There’s a wraparound porch, which provides a nice gathering spot for smokers or those looking to get some air. The DJ left a little to be desired, but I can’t speak as to whether that was the song selection he was provided with, or if he was even an employee of Turtle Creek. In any case, it didn’t stop us from dancing the night away! My husband and I chose to go the simple route when it came to our wedding, and Turtle Creek is so pliable and ready to be personalized, I think we would have been able to do it simply there with no issues. I also think it’s nicely decorated on its own, so you probably wouldn’t have to do anything to make it nice. The reception space is bi-level so you can go downstairs to get away from the music and mingle, and seating options are plentiful. The food was awesome, and I very much overserved myself trying to get a bite of everything. They set it up in serve-yourself stations, which was great. You could eat when/if you felt like it, and the staff kept lines moving quickly and food on the tables. All in all, I can’t understand why anyone wouldn’t choose this place other than being a hard to please kind of personality. All in all, it appeared as though they were ready to make the day whatever the bride and groom wanted it to be, and that’s how it turned out. I think this venue is just lovely, and the owners are extremely conscientious and eager to please.
