I had the chicken and ribs. The chicken was fantastic! You don’t get that kind of chicken in Chicago! The ribs were really good too. The children had the mini corn dogs and like them. They said they were on the well-done side, but they like them like that. The service was pretty good. The owner came by which is always a nice touch. I guess the place is for sale which might explain the lack of updating to the décor. I would go back in a heartbeat.

This is, and has been for decades, the coolest place around in this neck of the woods. Fabulous location and views. Great bar for hanging out, music, dancing. A very respectable dinner menu and incredible Friday night fish fry. Our family has been going here for generations, under various owners. We love it and go regularly!

Recently, my wife and I had the opportunity to visit Spooner, Wisconsin. Neither of us had ever been there, but a friend of ours grew up in Spooner and she was taking us on a «history tour» of the places she had worked, grown up in/near, or were just interesting places in Spooner. And so we found ourselves at the Pair O Lakes Lodge for our first evening dinner in Spooner. For those who know me, they would tell you I’m always on the look out for«a better burrito,» «a better chocolate old fashioned donut» and/or «the better alfredo.» People have harassed me for my lack of originality when trying new places ’cause I like to stick to the basics — if the basics win me over, I’m sure to return. But a good Alfredo sauce is not easy to come by – they are often«too runny» or «too bland» or «too fishy» — very few places get it right.(Favorite Alfredo’s to date, as far as chains go, include The Olive Garden and Pasta Pomodoro — hopefully that doesn’ t kill my credibility dear readers) I am pleased to tell you that my Chicken Alfredo dinner, following a healthy serving of cheese curds, was quite yummy. The sauce had good flavor, didn’t taste like a boil-a-bag(for that please visit any Applebees for a truly unoriginal meal), and the chicken was well flavored and juicy. I had the ½ helping, which only comes with one chicken breast, and I’m glad that I did. When done with dinner, we walked down to the lake area(visible from the parking lot) and enjoyed an awesome sunset. One could make an argument(if they were so inclined) to say my impression of dinner may have been biased based on my first night seeing old friends, for the enjoyment of the sunset, the scenery, the first time being in a new place — but what the heck? I had a good time, if we go back to Spooner, I’m going back to the Pair O Lakes lodge. Cheers all!

This review is for the restaurant and grounds. We did not stay at the lodge but it was a beautiful site that would be perfect for a lakeside vacation. We had dinner at the restaurant during the week and enjoyed some tasty cheese curds, pasta and frog legs(yes, my friends ordered the frog legs). I can’t speak for their taste but our cheese curds and pastas were delicious. Service was perfect… the staff was very friendly and kept our drinks filled and made sure everything was to our satisfaction. After dinner we went to one of the lakeside docks and enjoyed the sunset before heading home.
