the coffee here is good! i also like the barista working at night each time i come, she comes off as very genuine. i usually go for the kendall yards latte. the space always feels laidback as well, spacious so you can find a spot to sit down rather than cramped. i didn’t feel a rush to get up for others.

I never got the barista’s name but she was the nicest and friendliest ever. She made my cappuccino delicious. Very great coffee and friendly environment.

I enjoy this location for is home-like atmosphere, very relaxed, and easy going. Tucked away from the busyness, it’s a great place to catch up with friends or get work done. Love coming here to work, hang out, or get a cup to go. Friendly staff, the lady in the pink GU sweatshirt was working very hard today and I appreciate her. Thank you!

In search of locally produced coffee, I stumbled across Indaba. The gentleman who helped me at the register let me taste(but not smell) the roasts that they had in stock, which to me was disappointing because there are many ways to brew coffee, so the taste of one particular brewing method is different than the next. I found all of their roasts to be too light, but I still decided to purchase what the cashier recommended as their darkest roast. Initially, I was rather disappointed with it. Using either a French press or aeropress with it yielded coffee that was so light, that it tasted like a tea. While some people may desire this type of taste, it was certainly not what I was expecting for the darkest roast at a coffee shop. However, I do have to say that this roast makes some excellent expresso. It is not overly bitter and it has a very smooth taste. This is not a good place to go if you are looking for any type of special blends or roasts. In fact, I would say that the defining characteristic of their coffee is the lack of any type of special taste. That being said, I think it’s not fair to evaluate this business based on the quality of their coffee, but rather on the effectiveness of their entire business model. Indaba seems to be very involved in the local community. I believe that they donate to a local food bank with every pound of coffee purchased, which explains the prices of their products. While the coffee at Indaba may not be something that wows you, the ethics behind the business are what separates it from other coffee places in Spokane. I hope that in the future, they expand their selection of coffee and develop their own niche blend and flavor.

Simply stated. The atmosphere is laid back and cool. I enjoyed a delicious butterscotch mocha paired with a flakey almond pastry.

I give this place 0 stars. I have been an avid customer since they opened. Buy coffee there every 2 weeks at $ 18-$ 19 a bag. I bought all my pour over equipment and coffee scale from them. Have supported the store by word of mouth to everyone I know that drinks coffee. Had a very disappointing experience with a barista in the downtown store. Called and left a message for the owner to call me back. Haven’t heard a word. Will never give them my business again.

Awesome coffee! This place not only has great coffee, great service & a great shop, but they help out the community of Spokane. I know they help kids/teens resell their beans to help out programs around the community. Their staff is very friendly & remembers your order. It feels like a small town coffee shop when you go there. Love their lemon latte

Fantastic coffee! And this is coming from a guy who doesn’t usually like coffee. Atmosphere of the shop is fantastic and has a great minimalist feel to it. The baristas are awesome and extremely personable there. Definitely can tell the shop cares about it’s customers and city. Perfect place to relax and read or even do homework. Definitely recommend it! 10⁄10 would drunk coffee there again.

I loved it better when it shared space with a bookstore but even after the change the coffee is amazing. The service is fantastic, never snooty or snobby. Tremendous appreciation of quality and roasting on site! If they wanted to they could certainly include more food options beyond the Batch pastries(think boots deli), and they could price their chocolate options and have a few more price tiers.

Horrible tasting coffee. My boyfriend got a Chai cinnamon latte it was watered down and lacked flavor. I got my usually coffee drink. white chocolate with two shots on ice with a shot of cream. She added water to my drink and filled the cup up so high with ice I couldn’t put a lid on it. Not going back.

I’m not sure what Indaba stands for, but it should have some esoteric meaning that resonates coffee. I am going to go with the important conference of tribal leaders(Zulu or Xhosa). That Spokane merits such an important meeting house is indicative of the quality of the coffee being served. It also has a lesser meaning, that of a meeting or parley. So, I think that this coffee house wishes for all who visit to enjoy the coffee and indulge in an opportunity to meet and greet your fellow coffee drinkers. This coffee house could be moved to a larger city and would fit in perfectly with the hipster crowd. The whole vibe is aimed at the young and upwardly mobile with a hint of rebelliousness. The coffee tastes a little different from other coffees in other places. That alone makes this a place that everyone should visit at least once. The baristas who greeted me were knowledgeable, helpful and pleasant. They were there to help you and to make you a great cup of coffee. You were not interrupting their day because they were there to make your experience wonderful. There is also a collection of new and used books available for sale in the second half of the shop. One half coffee shop, one half book store. You can also buy chocolate and muffins and other interesting foods if you are hungry. I am a true Starbucks groupie but do enjoy sampling the unique coffees at local establishments. This is definitely one of the best local coffee shops in Spokane and the Pacific Northwest. Try it out, you won’t be disappointed.

Definitely a big city coffeehouse. Baristas said that they are opening a new store downtown across from Macy’s and that this location has been here for five years. No worries about parking or paying to park at this location. My caramel latte was very smooth with no overly sugary taste and yes beautiful latte art. Stay-here ceramic cups are definitely a plus, and they have almond milk as an option, which will be next on my list of «to-try» when I’m back in the area. The eclectic furnishings(mismatched chairs and well-used tables) with the bookstore pull together a urban hip setting that is typically found in big cities. I look forward to trying Indaba Coffee at their new downtown location soon!

Love everything that I’ve ever ordered from Indaba, try and have something different every time I have the opportunity. Bobby and his team are fantastic and have a true passion for incredible coffee. I sport a picture of one of their drinks for my profile because I love them that much. ;) highly recommend.

Indaba is a gem. They are a neighborhood, socially conscious, micro-roaster and coffee house. First of all, they have some amazing coffees. They feature beans from all over the world but specialize in African beans. Roasted to perfection and brewed using any method you want. They do specialty coffee in a down to earth, approachable way. Not only is their coffee fantastic, but they do a lot of good for the community as well. Bobby(the owner) hires only members of the neighborhood and work with at risk youth. They also pair with the local food bank and provide a meal for a family in need for every pound of coffee sold. Not only can you get great, locally roasted coffee but you can feel good about it too!

The people working here make homework much less dreadful. Good coffee(the best vanilla latte in Spokane– Madagascar vanilla syrup makes the drink), not too much noise, and an overall friendly environment. Indaba has become my Spokane happy place. P. s. There is an easy to access parking lot in the back. Make sure to take advantage of!

Really most coffee shops are all pretty closely matched. That’s until you try Indaba. I had no idea I was missing this kind of goodness. You should really give this place a try just once. I had a vanilla latte and my wife had a mocha latte. Both were incredibly smooth like I’ve never experienced. Both were very tasty as well. My guess is that they use homemade flavorings. Only reason for a loss of a star is the price. Two latte’s set us back about $ 10 which seems just a little steep. Will we be back? Most certainly.

I think I’ve just found my favorite coffee shop. Indaba Coffee Roasters celebrated their 5th year birthday this evening, from 5:00 — 7:00p.m., and Alyssa A. had posted an invitation on the Events section of this week’s local Unilocal newsletter. Live music, fancy baked treats, and wood fired Veraci Pizza was served. I had the honor of meeting the very down to earth owner, Bobby E. I am so happy to have had the opportunity to attend! The bar is set, Spokane. I have more places to try but at this moment, Indaba stands at the top. Soooo smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. As Lara E. mentions, there was no burnt taste to the coffee. I had to order a decaffeinated Browne’s Addition as caffeine would keep me up if I drink it much after 2:00 p.m. My lactose intolerance dictated an alternative to cow’s milk and they offered soy or almond milk. A full Nettleton’s Addition was my companion’s choice and also made with almond milk. It was heavenly as well! The latte art was an added treat to visually savor before we began to consume our devine drinks. Tables inside and out, located on the street level of the Walnut Corners apartment building, this will become a coffee treat destination. Indaba is community and socially conscientious. I plan to return earlier in the day for a full strength, mocha indulgence! Happy Birthday, Indaba! I look forward to another 5 year celebration!

The coffee is excellent, the books are interesting to even just browse. I see myself coming here more, it’s just not in my immediate neighborhood.
