Service was friendly and quick. Pretty good stuff. Nice and crispy, not greasy. Initially couldn’t tell the difference between the spicy and regular recipe tenders. There’s a definite slow lingering heat. Not unpleasant. They both have a nice black pepper or cayenne bite to them. I see the comparison to Popeye’s. Mac and cheese was pretty darn good. Not mom’s, but it was nice. I’ll definitely go back if we are in the ‘hood.

This location can’t get their sides made fresh unless you want to call in ahead of time or wait at least 20 min for anything other than fries. Very dissapointed. Been here several times to try their mac and cheese and they never make enough.

We drove up from Walla Walla just to check out this place and we were not disappointed. It was the best chicken I’ve had in awhile. The biggest wings I’ve ever seen and the mac & cheese was awesome! The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back! I highly recommend the peach cobbler too.

Flat out some of the best chicken I have ever had. It is good cold and hot. I had a 3 hour drive home and it was still tasty when I got home.

I’ve driven by this place for months and told my self I need to try it. Well today was the day finally. I was going to sit in my car and review the menu online before going in. Then I decided, heck. I’m Guna wing it. Cashier was super friendly and gave me the run down of the menu. Since I came in on lunch she suggested a chicken tender combo. And that’s what I chose. The ½ pound. Which includes a side and a fresh baked roll. I did original recipe and the Bbq sauce for dippin. I was torn on what side to get since it was my first time. The creamy slaw sounded good but I didn’t want to commit. So she let me sample it. It was great, but I defaulted to their second most popular side, mashed potatoes and gravy. She said the man n cheese is the most popular. My food was up quick. I chose to eat in. I felt like I was in the dining room of one of the friendliest southern families ever! I was greeted warmly and asked multiple times with a genuine smile if they could get me anything as I enjoyed my meal. And I did. I needed butter and honey for the amazing roll! Then as I was almost done the manager was making his rounds checking on those eating and offered a peach cobbler sample. What a great treat to round out the meal. I heard one customer order sweet potato pie. Can’t wait to try that next time. Stay tuned! I’ll definitely be back and encourage everyone to give it a try. Way better than KFC!

Best fried chicken in town! Get the spicy chicken. It’s not supper spicy, and gives you some better flavor. Chicken isn’t to greasy(for being fried). Sides are amazing. Potatoes are real and not powdered. Beans have some kick. Mack and cheese is authentic. Make the drive up to the south hill, you won’t be sorry!

For this southern kid this is the place for me! I’ve eaten@ the Seattle capital hill location before and I actually think the Spokane location was better. I had 3pc mix combo w/beans and mashed potatoes. …great stuff, pan dripping gravy !!

I was hoping for something similar to Popeyes at least, But no Bueno… Gas station chicken strips. Mashed potatoes were terrible in every way. Macaroni… The girl that worked there said it was really good, not sure what her standards of good are? but it was very bland, a poor attempt at Mac even for fast food. Corn wasn’t very good. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but it didn’t taste very fresh or like it had just been sitting there all day. Baked beans were the only decent side honestly, even with the weird peppery taste they had & the Piece of sweet potato pie i had was mediocre. I threw most of it away honestly, a wasted $ 20 meal.

The food is essentially a slightly better, slightly more expensive KFC. Fried chicken with mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, the usual. There is not much you are getting here that you can’t get at some fast food chain. I would rate the chicken better than most fast food places you can go. They usually give you nice full breasts of meat that are well breaded and crispy. Their«spicy» chicken really isn’t very spicy and so is a bit of a disappointment. Most of the meals come with a side and a sweet bread roll. The bread roll is decent, slightly sweet, and can be eaten with or without butter. The sides vary wildly by what you order. The mac and cheese is a perfectly acceptable attempt at mac and cheese. A bit under salted, but that’s easily remedied. The BBQ beans are quite nice and about what one would expect from BBQ beans at a restaurant. The biggest disappointment are the mashed potatoes and gravy. Everything about them just tastes awful. The gravy tastes like cornstarch, water, and the color brown, while the mashed potatoes are nearly flavorless, but with a disgusting texture. One of the more frustrating things is that they discourage you from making an order to pick up. I was told over the phone that it doesn’t take any time for order of 4 or less. Well in the nearly 10 times I’ve gone to Ezell’s I’ve had to wait for my meal to carry out. If they just took phone orders then I could pay for it and bring it home, but they don’t and it makes it a less viable takeout place because of it.

Grew up eating Ezell’s at their original location in Central District Seattle. My dad used to run me up there to pick up sweet potato pies for xmas every year. I was traveling through Spokane on the way to a family function a couple weeks ago and was surprised to see an Ezell’s location. Stopped in for a couple pies to-go, and they were as good as I remembered. Price still reasonable, and staff was friendly and quick too.

Cold roll, very cold butter completely unspreadable on cold roll, barely noticeable gravy on mashed tates and gravy. Not even warm dry chicken breast at 530 p.m. unacceptable for the price. This place has slowly gotten worse since opening and many employees seem angry at you for making them do their job. That being said chicken is occasionally good and I love the crunch on the spicey chicken. Water cups are around three ounces another major issue for me.

I feel like I just wasted months of my life by not stopping here sooner. I love chicken. I’m around there all the time, shame on me. Anyway today since I had to stop by petsmart I figured I would give it a go for lunch. Walking in I was immediately greeted with a smile. There was no line so I was able to take my time trying to decide what I wanted to try. I decided on the buffalo chicken strips and Cajun fries. The cashier(who was super friendly and helpful) told me it would be a few minute wait so they can make the fries fresh. They did have some chicken in bins waiting similar to most chicken places, but not too much I would be worried about it getting dry or cold. I took the wait time to check out the place and pick up a to go menu. The restaurant was super clean but small and tidy. I definitely wouldn’t «eat in» because of how small but to each their own. In less then 5 minutes I was out the door. I got home and was pleasantly surprised just from my first bite of the chicken. The chicken was tender and perfect amount of flavor. The fries were perfect. Everything was perfect. Now, I’m sure things will not always be perfect. I accept that. But I will definitely be back and hope it’s as good the second time around when I try something else.

I love their chicken, but what does that matter if I can’t get any? The last three times(in as many weeks) I have eaten here, I have had to wait 20 minutes, either for chicken or a side dish. They have one product! Its not like a full menu restaurant. There is no excuse to run out, especially at dinner time! Last night the person in front of me ordered 24 pieces and wiped out their stock. Myself and the five or more people, waiting in line, were just simply out of luck, unless you wanted to wait 20 – 30 minutes for them to cook more. It seems to me, if you place a large order, at dinner time,(6:00 pm) you should be the one to wait. Isn’t it better to have one customer wait rather than many? I love the chicken, but I am getting really frustrated with never getting any!

Way better than Kentucky Fried Chicken. Tasty fried chicken and they don’t upcharge for drumsticks verses breasts. What’s not to like about that? I had their original recipe(3 drumsticks, please) but they also do spicy and hot. The chicken was moist, plump, and well, I totally understand now why Oprah has it flown into Chicago. Add in a delish roll, tangy baked beans and«heritage» mac n cheese and the extra couple mile walk afterwards was so worth the indulgence! All that, and a drink, and a tip for 15 bucks– I’ll be back.

My family and I came in tonight for dinner. The place was busy. The employees were friendly and helpful. The restaurant is very small but clean. Between us we ordered chicken, chicken tenders, fries, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn and beans. I agree with another poster that it is not quite as good as Bob’s chicken and more but everything was still delicious. And I love having a place that serves really good fried chicken up on the Southhill! We are definitely going to be back and we are going to tell all of our friends to go here as well. Take out is probably the way to go because the seating is really limited. This will probably be my go to place on the nights I don’t feel like cooking!

My qualifications: I have lived all over the country including the South so I know good fried chicken. Given that note, in the five years I have been in Spokane I have been extremely disappointed that there is only one place for good fried chicken, «Chicken n Mo», which I love. The question is, how would Ezell’s measure up to Chick n Mo. I came in at 4:30PM on a Thursday afternoon in June and was very hungry. I noticed chicken sitting out behind the counter similar to Popeye’s. You can buy 1−2−3−4 or more pieces separately or in a dinner with rolls and side dishes. I ordered the four piece meal with 2 pieces of dark(Thigh and leg) and 2 pieces or white(Breasts). I got a cup of water that was free. The cost was $ 12.57. If I were to only get the chicken I think it would have been $ 8.50 for four pieces, but I was a hungry dude. Positives The employees were friendly and the service was fast. Fast is not necessarily good… McDonald’s is fast! See below. The sides were surprisingly good. I really liked the baked beans and the macaroni and cheese. That was a pleasant surprise. The rolls were fresh and tasty. I did not see any butter, but did not need it anyway. The freshest chicken was the thigh. It was moist, juicy, and hot. The other pieces you could tell had been up there probably since lunch and were a bit dried out. I’m a big dude. 235 lbs and almost couldn’t eat it all. So you get a lot of food if you’re hungry. If I lived on the South Hill I would be visiting this place twice a month. It’s good but not great! It’s good that we have another place good friend chicken place. Popeye’s is better and we probably won’t get one of those… although I think it would do well here if it was on the North side. There was a steady stream of people of all ages and races coming in from 4:30 — 5:00PM. I’m sure they will make it in Spokane. Little competition. Critiques The chicken was ok, better than KFC, which I don’t really like. However, KFC does have better spices on their skin. But it’s greasy. The chicken was not 100% fresh. At Chicken n Mo they cook it right there on order and it comes to you fresh, hot, and juicy. The best«by far» in town. But you may have to wait 15 – 30 minutes. I wish I went there more often, but the parking is a pain down there. Judgment: Chick n Mo has the best fried chicken in Spokane hands down. The crust and the freshness of their product is the best. Ezell’s comes in second. There is no third because I don’t count grease.

I heard good things about this place, but I was deeply disappointed with my experience. The restaurant wasn’t busy so I had time to explore the menu. I ended up ordering two pieces of spicy fried chicken(one dark meat and one white) and some Cajun fries. The fried shell was really crispy, but the chicken was bland and flavorless. I wondered if they screwed up my order since someone from another review said the spicy version is really spicy. For not being busy, you would think that they would get the order right. Also, there was only a very light dusting of Cajun spices on my fries. I was expecting a robust amount of Cajun spices just like how they do it in the South. The best part of my entire meal was the roll, which was soft and delicious. The right amount of sweetness with no butter needed. This place was a little pricey, but if this is what Ezell’s Famous Chicken has to offer then I would suggest saving your money and head to either KFC or Chicken n’ More.

1. Disregard the 2 star review from the person from 1950 2. If you like fried chicken that does not come in bucket and is served by nice folks and is NOT overpriced… two adults had chicken, fries and Mac and cheese for $ 20…come on were you gonna have delicious dinner for 2 for $ 20? The chicken was delicious, moist, and flavorful. The Mac and cheese is real Mac and cheese not pasta swimming in some disgusting processed cheeses sauce… it’s the real deal. 3. They just opened its gonna be busy and crazy for a while but completely worth it. 4. The atmosphere and people are great. Will definitely be back! Spokane is definitely ready for Ezell’s!

Woo it’s finally open! The chicken here is good and reasonable. For under 10 dollars you get 3 pieces of chicken(spicy or non spicy), two sides and a delicious fresh roll. The options of sides were coleslaw, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, baked bbq beans and Mac n cheese. The chicken is decently sized and I’m a big fan of their Mac n cheese. The bread roll is super soft and pretty generous. Unfortunatoy they didn’t have the gizzards and chicken liver but it is the first day they’ve opened so they’re still working out everything. Definitely check this place out! I’ll update this review as I continue eating here because I’m definitely going to be a repeat customer
