Absolutely delicious! I just moved here in August and grew up eating Mediterranean food. This deliciously satisfied my craving! Can’t wait to come back and try something else!

We were really missing our favorite Greek spot back home and Azar’s filled that void completely! We were lucky enough to be the only people in the restaurant and were taken care of perfectly by the owners son. We both got the gyro plates, his with fries and mine with the greek salad, and we also had a plate of hummus with pita as an appetizer. The hummus was perfect and creamy and the pitas were served nice and warm. We both agree the gyros were up with the best we’ve ever had! I cannot recommend this place enough.

30 years ago, my husband and I went on one of our first dates to an Azar’s up on north Hamilton. It was the first time I had ever had Greek food. We are still big fans. Try the lunch buffet, I love everything in it. Consistently great food at decent prices. Thank Azar’s!

I have been going to Azar’s for many years. My favorite is the Tzatziki Gyros. I’ll often add a side salad or the always delicious lentil soup. I don’t allow myself the fries often but they are very tasty, too. And, of course, the hummus and pita are a great way to start the meal. The hummus is always fresh and creamy. I’ve taken many guests to Azar’s and the response has always been positive. A good way to sample many things on the menu is to visit for their lunch buffet. You’ll find a little bit of every things. They keep it well stocked and I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. If you’re looking for a fancy fine dining atmosphere, look elsewhere. If you’re looking for a casual, comfortable environment where you get home cooked G reek fare, head to Azar’s. They even have belly dancers if you pick the right night!

Place needs a renovation!!! I was dissapointed to find that there wasn’t any décor. Didn’t really have any middle eastern feeling at all. To be honest, the food seemed like it was frozen. Green beans were very mushy. Nothing really tasted fresh. Very disappointed! The belly dancer was quite entertaining but hardly had any room to preform. She had to be very careful to not bump into the table that was full of plates near her or the tables in front where people were sitting. I’ve been to other middle eastern restaurants and this one really let me down.

Don’t eat here they have everything frozen. We ordered chicken skewers and lentil soup. After waiting 20 min all we got is frozen food heated in the oven. Chicken was very dry and soup didn’t feel like freshly made. Eat something else but don’t go here.

Still the best gyro in town by far.

A solid 4 stars with good Greek food. As others have mentioned, the atmosphere is nice but it is not a fancy location. It was clean and well-lit, and the background music was nice and not too loud or intrusive. We started with Spanakopita and Cardamom Tea. Both were great. For the tea, cardamom seeds are boiled down to a syrup and then added to the tea. We then both had the Lamb Gyros. These were great with plenty of meat. The service was attentive and friendly. Many Unilocal’ers seem to be complaining about the price. We thought the price was about average in this day and age. It is simply getting more expensive to dine out everywhere.

My Dad and I went to Azar’s last night for dinner. It is a very down home kind of place so don’t go in expecting fancy tablecloths and high end waiters/waitresses but that is part of the appeal of this place. We decided to split an order of kabobs, they went above and beyond by letting us do one kabob of beef and one of chicken(usually you only get to choose one type of meat). It was served with a massive pile of rice(spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg I believe), homemade hummus, pita bread, and a green bean salsa(not spicy but a tomato and onion base with green beans and spiced sort of like the rice). It was also served with your choice of Lentil Soup or Greek Salad. We ordered an extra Pita Bread and an extra salad since we were splitting the rest of the meal. The food was amazing! Everything was spiced perfectly and the olive oil/vinegar dressing on the salad was amazing! We finished our meal off with a piece of walnut baklava and pistachio baklava, with an extra one to take home. Our total for everything came to just shy of $ 38 but it was worth every penny! I would recommend this place to anyone who is wanting to try Greek food or just something new. We will definitely be back many more times.

Aside from the fact that I make the world’s BEST hummus, Azar’s comes close with their hummus. ;-) Their gyros sandwich is totally delicious because they use the Kronos beef/lamb cone on a spinning heated element roaster. This meat is so tasty and makes for the best gyros in a pita. They also use the best pita bread on the market. Even though their restaurant could surely use a much-needed remodel or touch-up, their Arabic food is delicious and is most definitely worth going there for.

I can’t speak for the restaurant itself, only their stand at Pig Out in the Park. Hands down the best gyro I’ve ever had. No thin piddly pieces of lamb, it’s thickly sliced off the rotisserie(I know there’s a specific term here). I love the mix of tender interior slices and crusty exterior pieces. The pita is the perfect thickness, soft and piping hot. What I also LOVE about their gyros is the tzatziki!!! Thick, garlicky, cucumber, and they aren’t skimpy at all! Paired with the feta and tomato… it’s gyro heaven!

I’ve never had Greek food before but this lived up to every expectation and more! I had the falafel pita sandwich. It was amazing! Also tried the hummus and falafel with pita, best hummus I’ve ever had. My friend had the gyro, and I tried some for the first time. Delicious! I’ll definitely be back!

I will continue to eat here because the food speaks for itself but ownership seems to have become complacent over the years with regards to service. $ 10.95 lunch buffet is oh-so-yummy as is everything else on the menu. $ 3.00 baklava is made in-house and worth every penny. Regular menu items are a bit pricey for the too-casual service provided. Expect to seat yourself, get a menu yourself and be prepared to ask once or more for anything you might need.

Have driven by this place so many times and with Greece playing in the World Cup finally got me to go in since I was craving a gyro… The skinny in case you just want the quick summary… Food is decent but is expensive for what you your eyes are telling you. With that said, with Greece being one of the epicenters of philosophy, this is one of the places you can reason with yourself either way. The rest of the story… Family owned and run. Converted from an old drive through/car hop establishment in a previous life. Doesn’t necessarily look like the most inviting place but staff was very friendly. I put in an order to go which consisted of the meat combo for 2 and a gyro with fries… the sticker shock… $ 55 plus. I suppose that is par for the course for a dinner for 3 at nice restaurant but the whole converted drive through thing throws me off… its hard to counter first impressions. Granted the dinner for two was $ 35 plus and came with gyro meat, lamb and chicken kabobs with a generous side of rice with a bean salsa on top, a side of hummus and a couple pieces of pita. The chicken was good and the lamb was a bit on the dry side. I love gyro meat and it tasted like gyro meat. Now, if you are used the thin slices that you see at most gyro places where they slice it off the rotating meat thing… that is not what you get here… you get chunkier pieces of meat which by no means is a bad thing. I actually like the heartier pieces of meat… just different. My eyes tell me that it is on the expensive side, the rest of me tells me that if I want a gyro or some decent Greek food from a place the specializes in Greek food than this is one of the few Greek places in the greater Spokane area. I would recommend trying it if you were in the mood for Greek food, just bring your inner Socrates and few extra bucks.

My mother and I we’re craving Greek and we are new to Spokane. I Unilocaled Greek food and discovered a gem. We shared a Greek salad and you could taste that the dressing was freshly made. We split an entrée of gyro meat, falafel, hummus, grilled pitas and freshly made tahini and tzaikiki sauce. It was flavorful and filling. We had plenty for both of us. We finished our meal with a piece of delicious pistachio baklava. It’s a small, family run restaurant and there were lots of people eating talking and enjoying themselves. I’ll definitely return for more tasty Greek cuisine.

Seems like a family operation and it appears that they try very hard. The owner lady was very stressed out and banging around on the buffet because some people were about to have a family reunion there. She kept loudly giving orders to her(son?) and that was pretty much the atmosphere. I guess it was understandable though. Their prices are REALLY high. Just getting one appetizer with your meal will break the bank, especially since you don’t get a decent portion. We got the sampler and it only came with a dollop of hummus and a dollop of baba ghannouj(wasn’t a huge fan of either, even though I normally love them both). The gyros are impossible to pick up and eat. They were just lying flat with things piled high, and the waiter handed us the paper wrap thing to wrap it ourselves(Okay?). So we had to just eat everything with a fork. Our drinks were empty pretty much the entire time, things were forgotten, and we weren’t checked on very often. The guy who was waiting on us(again, the owner’s son? maybe) was very friendly but in an unprofessional sorta way. If I was dying for a gyro in Spokane, I’d go back… but maybe just for takeout.

Tried the buffet 2 times and it did not impress me. I went because it had good reviews but honestly the food is bland and does not stand out. Maybe I would have better luck with the menu instead of buffet?

WOW! Was totally planning on going, looking for a good greek place in spokane harder than it seems. I called to ask what was in their Gyros and lady that answered the phone said«beef and lamb» and was kind of snippy about it. I replied, ok… anything else? and again with a snippy tone said well there’s sauce! I said Ok, so just meat and sauce? I’m thinking wow this doesn’t sound like any gyro i’ve ever had. and still snippy said«well it’s on the bread and you can get lettuce and tomatoes on it! Can you hold please!» Didn’t even wait for me to say yes or no, just roughly set the phone down. Sorry Azar’s your terrible phone etiquette just lost you a regular customer if your food was any kind of good.

Good service, bland food and seems to be tailored to whitefolk needs. We went here on a random whim, and it’s walkable distance from home. The service was friendly, fast, all the good stuff. The food though it just was really bland, and forgettable while being expensive for what you get. I really liked the service, but won’t be back.

Spokane is a funny place — our food scene has really exploded over the last five years and we have some truly good restaurants. However when it comes to ethnic cuisine this city seems to have some truly lacking places to eat and while some people can readily see this(Cathay Inn is a perfect example) other ethnic places that are embarrassing to their cuisine are thought of as good(White House — no the addition of feta and garlic doesn’t make it authentic, Rancho Chico — rice and beans with yellow cheese and salsa in ranch doesn’t make it real mexican). Ironically many of the better ethnic restaurants are sometimes dissed by spokane people because they resemble the feta/garlic or rice/beans they are used to being served. With that being said Spokane is sorely lacking in authentic Greek/middle eastern food, however we do have a diamond in the rough with Azar’s. The Babganuj was perfectly balanced with garlic and lemon, the managish was heavenly. Their gyro’s are by far the best in Spokane/CDA area(not frozen meat like the White House)(I’m a gyro snob btw so that’s a pretty big compliment.) Their Kufta reminded me of being in Turkey and their kebobs are excellent. The biggest downfall here is the ambiance, it’s a converted fast food place and the service can be spotty when they get busy but if you can get by those you will be having the best greek/middle eastern food in the area. 4.5 Stars for the food when compared to the rest in the area.
