A nice travel plaza with a Subway and a Denny’s which was nice for meal options. Subway has a tiny sitting area of three tables that we had no issue finding a seat. The travel plaza had at least two bathrooms and a nice sitting area to watch TV.

I spend a lot of time on the road, and I do love me a good truck stop. But I miss the days when truck stops had individual personalities. Nowadays, they’re all just cookie cutter mass produced islands on the highway. This must be a sign that I’m getting old. I miss the old days. That said… this truck stop is clean and the employees are helpful. On the downside, the access to highways 3 and 70 is not the best. It’s a cookie cutter truck stop, to be sure. But it’s one of the better cookie cutter ones.

What can I say I love truck stops. I love this place even more now that it has a Denny’s. I love it even more now that they know how to run their Denny’s. And my all time favorite thing about this place is the counter pizza. Yummy.

I remember when this place was built. The whole town was in an uproar. Everyone wanted to come to the Flying J for a tank of gas and dinner. Yeah, dinner. That is how exciting New Castle is. This Flying J is located at the New Castle exit on I-70 about an hour east of Indianapolis(Exit 123). There are few reasons to go to or through New Castle, and there is almost nothing at all along the I-70 between Greenfield and Richmond. New Castle is about a 15 minute drive North of I-70, so this truck stop really is a godsend if you need gas, road snacks, Denny’s, Subway, a shower, a haircut, a slice of pizza, or a pack of smoke.
