Went there for an early dinner last Saturday. The décor was nice. The food was good and the portions were probably average size. I believe the service was not the friendliest. We were never asked for another round of drinks or even bread. Maybe it was just an off night. Will try again hopefully soon.

I am sad to say, this place is BIZZARE!!! the food was ok, but you can get a better meal at one of the local pizza places. Ironically, all of us in our party had chicken and it was ok. So, the bizarre part, the owner and the place. There was NO servers, just the owner. We got there first and waited for the rest of our party… He pointed to an empty table for us to sit at and he then disappeared… we sat for OVER10 minutes before he showed his face again and gave us menus. he then asked if we wanted tap water, he then put a bottle of tap water on our table, he didn’t even pour it for us, which is fine, but not classy at all. he then disappeared for a while again, but did return with an wine opener and bread. he hounded us to order, when we finally did(we were chatting and catching up) our meals came out not even 7 minutes later. Again the food is just ok, nothing to write home about. After we ate, he asked about coffee and dessert, delivered that, gave us the bill, waiting and took our payment. After we paid, we finished our coffee and stuff continuing to talk for about ½ hour. We were the last group here and the owner was NOWHERE to be found, no one was in the place except for us. It was creepy and concerning. I actually joked that maybe we should lock up when we left. He was GONE! I wouldn’t waste my money going here… I am actually shocked he’s still open, this wasn’t my first eh! experience here. Sorry but there is much better food and service around.

Nice restaurant in center of town. I thought the food was good, but my girlfriend did not like either entrée. It’s small, and has some outside seating. Parking can be tricky in the center of Sparta on a busy night.

My husband and I love this place. We moved here from Hoboken and were desperate to find some good Italian food that could compare to what we were used to in Hoboken. This place reminds us of some of our favorites both in atmosphere and delicious food. We bring our two small boys and the owner and staff are always pleasant and accommodating. My husband loves the chicken Parmesan and my favorite is the penne vodka. My kids love the ravioli. Highly recommend a visit to this restaurant.

We went here with my inlaws. Biggest mistake of my life. After two hours of waiting for our food, the obnoxious owner didn’t care at all. I can’t wait for them to go out of business so it can be replaced with another establishment. I will never go there again!

A little Italian BYOB that is located in the center of a lake Mohawk. They do sell one of my favorite favorite NJ wines Ventimiglia Fratelli, which is a old school Italian blend that I adore and would recommend trying if you like Italian red blends The building is clearly aged, and the interior is done in the classic old school Italian. We had a beet and goat cheese salad and a pear and arugula salad to start. The goat cheese salad was yummy, and I could have two more. The pear salad while good needed more pear, as there were only couple of slivers on it. but it was well dressed. I had the eggplant melenanze which was freshly prepared with thin layers of eggplant lightly breaded, and done to perfection. My friend had the linguine and claim sauce with was once again freshly prepared. The desert menu was very attractive with all of my favorites, taramisu, canoli cake and cheese cake. The service was very attentive and friendly with out being overbearing. This is an ideal restaurant for a Sunday afternoon lunch.

Went there for lunch recently based on a number of good reviews and their philosophy of simply prepared, fresh food. Décor could use some updating. Building is very quaint and charming on the outside however inside is a bit worn and outdated. Music a nice touch though a bit too loud. Turning volume down slightly would improve atmosphere. We did get prime seating in the little alcove right in front of the garden window, great for people watching. Actually we had the entire place to ourselves since there is really not much of a lunch crowd during the week. The owner took care of us. He was very friendly and personable. You could tell by the way he explained his food that he has a lot of passion. I started with a delicious roasted corn chowder, creamy though there was no cream in it. I also tried one of their sandwiches on their homemade bread. The bread was very good, rustic and you can tell it is homemade. The owner explained that although they do make it for lunch, they send out for it for the dinner crowd due to high volume. This is truly simple food, prepared well, and minimally fussed with. I would definitely return.

Great ambiance; relaxing Italian music quietly played & large lovely wood floored, white tableclothed dining room. The tables by the bay windows overlooking White Deer Plaza are the best for people watching. I love the menu, and specials. The gnocchi is outstanding(when they have it), I had great salmon with a mustard cream sauce. Antipasti fritti(sort of like croquettes) were wonderful. I really like the way the menu changes from time to time and the specials are inventive and well presented. Great wait staff. Remember to bring your own wine though — convenient liquor store right next door.

I really want to love this place, I really do. Tanti Baci is located at the far end of the plaza in quaint historic building. It is more formal than most of the other restaurants in the area. The service is friendly and well paced. The specials tend to be better than items ordered from the menu. I ordered the goat cheese, beet, orange salad. It was fine but they used canned beets. My husband ordered a celeric and carrot soup, which was the best dish of the nights. They should keep it on the menu. I had the spinach walnut ravioli special. It consisted of three large ravioli, the spinach was a little raw as were the chunks of walnut. Overall, it was a good dish. My spouse had the penne al a nonna. It had way, way, to much garlic,(listen guys there have not been vampires on the plaza for quite some time now) the commercial pasta was not well cooked. The dish just didn’t work. I want this place to succeed but it is up against a lot of competition. There are tons of Italian restaurant in town and unfortunately, some are much better than Tanti Baci. It’s menu is largely iterative of every other Italian place in town. It needs to differentiate itself. I’m not sure the soft romantic atmosphere works with the craftsmen building or with the outdoorsy, sporty, casual Spartian demographic.
