It’s okay. My friend talked this place up and his favorite, so we went. The beans were so hard on the plate because it was way too hot. Also my Carne Asada was dry and hard to chew. We were really disappointed. Customer service is mediocre. Prices were average. Probably will not go back. Update!!! Tried going back to give the restaurant more time to stay open and get better. Guess what? They are so much better then my(upper ^ first review) last visit. We’ve been back twice with great customer service, food and quick service. Love that they improved. I recommend eating here.

Service was awesome! Carnitas tacos awesome! Only suggestion — change your salsa. Tastes like tomato paste.

I had such high hopes because the pictures looked amazing on here, even the atmosphere when I picked up the food was great… but it didn’t live up to any expectations I had. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad food, just not really good. I ordered a shredded beef wet burrito(enchilada style they named it), the albondigas and a chicken enchilada dinner plate with rice and beans. The shredded beef was awesome, very flavorful. The enchilada sauce was so bland, I wanted to add spices myself. The rice was a bit hard and bland as well. Too much cheese on everything, ended up all gummy and soaked up most of the sauce. My guy said the chicken inside the enchiladas was bland also.(He nicknamed the place Los Blandares) Now, the broth and veggies from the soup were amazing but the meatballs were very hard and had a weird fatty white film around them, they were so dense I couldn’t even cut them with a fork. I was so sad because, being from the bay area, I love my Mexican food. Overall it wasn’t bad, but I’m going to try around and see if I can find more flavor somewhere else.

Holy cow this place is awesome!!! They keep the chips, salsa and water coming all night! Their entrees are well worth the price because they are huge abs full of flavor. Yum yum!

This is one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve been to since I’ve been in Sparks/Reno area! The food is good and so is the environment. Keep in mind that they are usually pretty busy after 5 and the weekends can get pretty crazy. Definitely recommended!

Terrible. Food was slop and tasteless. The cooks must have changed again. I believe this building is cursed The only thing that tasted good were the chips. The service was good though.

We’ve been here a number of times and have always enjoyed it! Tonite we tried a few new items — queso dip with chorizo & steak & shrimp. Both were amazing. Combine that with a couple of awesome margaritas, and you’ve got the perfect end to your day!

Good food excellent service. My first visit so it only gets a four star. Let’s see if it’s just as good next time I’m in Reno Sparks area.

We’ve been coming here regularly. We like their enchiladas. I order the shrimp enchiladas. I think they have the best chips right now.

Los Compadres. Is located on disc dr in the old Vista Grill building. There other location is on 4th street, which i have never been to. There is ample parking, and seating both inside and out. This is a mexican restaurant that took over a steak restaurant building. The vibe does not scream mexican, more like what size steak do you want. The service has always been excellent, almost to quick. My friend and I ordered off the lunch special menu, which is good from 11 to 4. Our food came out within 4 minutes. E e both ordered the carnitas tacos which comes with beans and rice. The tacos by themselves are tasty, but when you put the salsa verde on them, it kicks it over the top. The salsa verde they provide with the meal, it is not spicy or hot but chock full off cilantro, onions and mild peppers. The salsa complements it and does not over power it at all. Very good meal for a good price. We will be back.

This LC’s can be hit and miss, but when they are on their game, the food is awesome! I’ve noticed their recipes seem to be different from the other two locations, which is a bummer when you’re expecting one of your favorites and get something way different instead. Even when their food game is funky, the service is great and being«in» with the bartender will get you some incredible margaritas!

I love Los Compadres, especially the one is sparks because it close to my house and the bartender Tomas always takes good care of us. Every time we go I try something new and it never fails me. The best thing on the menu is the Mexican tacos with beef. It’s simple yet so flavorful! If you want to get your buzz on I would grab a house margarita, you will feel it after one or two and they taste great! The environment here is very friendly and relaxed and you will most likely always meet people at the bar you can strike up on conversation with! I really do enjoy coming here on the weekends for dinner and drinks and sometimes I play a little keno at the bar! It’s a must try if you haven’t been.

: Prices are a tad over average. : Margaritas are really good(according to my wife) : Carne Asada was really good : Portions are big, but not stupid big : Beautiful interior(made to look kind of like a spanish mission) Trying out places in our new area, my wife and I went here for dinner. She got a margarita(or eight) and was very happy with both the choice of tequila(sauza) used in their standard, and the amount(they were a tad strong, but not in a bad way). I ordered the Chimi plate, and she got Carne Asada tacos. The carne asada was definitely the star — it was tender, flavorful and consistent. Salsas were very good, especially their Verde — phenomenal. The Chimi was average, it wasn’t crispy enough on the outside for my liking, but the chicken inside was very good, and it had a ton of cheese and such, Rice and Beans were both very good. Overall, I would definitely eat there again, but there are 2 other mexican restaurants in the area that we have yet to try, and one that we did try(Jalapeño’s) that was really good too, so there’s definitely some competition. The cons on this one were the lack of crispiness in the chimi, the price being a bit over average, and the noise level was actually a bit high because of the layout(there’s no real sound barriers in the main sitting area). That said, 4/5, worth trying just for the carne asada and some margaritas. :)

Always super fast and the food is excellent. Reminds me of a place in southern CA called Mission Burrito we would go to all the time growing up.

Looks can be deceiving… I wanted to like this place. I really did. It started with the salsa and chips. Salsa flavor was not balanced. It was a little too tomato/citrus/tart, bordering on bitter. I ordered a combination chicken/carne asada burrito with rice and beans. When they brought it to the table, my eyes bulged because it was HUGE!!! Bring a big appetite because the servings all seem to be pretty large. However, the chicken was not very flavorful and the carne asada was like chewing shoe leather. Nope, won’t be back to this one…

We are regulars here stopping in about two to three times per month. There food quality and service is always good and can’t remember ever not having a good experience. Pretty much anything on the menu is great but if you like a killer shredded beef taco’s, they have it! The owner is long time Nevada entrepreneur who seems to work hard every day(at least every time we are there). Always nice to support local business owners.

I ordered the chicken fajitas and it was delicious. With quick and friendly customer service, yummy food with reasonable prices, and a great environment this is a great place to eat! The newly redone restaurant is clean and the decorations help the place feel warm and homey.

When I first heard that Los Compadres would be replacing my beloved Vista Grill I was thinking to myself«Wow another Mexican restaurant in Sparks?» We have Las Trojes, Murriets and now Los Compadres all within a mile of one another. This one isn’t my fave of the three but I do enjoy coming here. They make the best margaritas of the three in my opinion. They are tasty and not too sweet. The coronaritas are good too. The bean and cheese burrito is nice and big and shareable. It was pretty good and the rice and beans were pretty good too. Last night we tried the bean tostado, it was ok. Then we had chile rellenos and a chicken burrito. They were both good. The service there is very attentive and fast. The chips and salsa are yummy as well and I like that they give you a hot and mild option(even if the hot isn’t that hot). Anyhow, I love the ambience in this place and will keep coming back mostly for that and the good margaritas.

We went only for drinks and apps. Our plans were to sit in the bar but more friends showed up than expected. We were moved into the restaurant so we could all sit together. It seemed to me that the server seemed bothered by the fact that we were not ordering more. I wish the bar staff would have conveyed this info to the waiter. I think the service would’ve been better if they had. I have no problem paying my share to rent the table. As it was it felt uncomfortable.
