I have been going to the GICWS Wing Cookoff for a number of years and have enjoyed it every time. This year was no exception, we totally enjoyed our time. We love wings and like trying out different flavors and styles of cooking them. Last year was a larger event, but in the oven known as the Grand Sierra Parking lot. Just too darn hot to hang out for too long. This year, the 12th year, was not as bad at the Atlantis Casino parking lot… save the smoke death coming from the California Fires. The line-up was much smaller, some conspicuous missing vendors were… Noble Pie, Boulevard Pizza and Carolina Kitchen. But there were still 11 vendors serving up many many different flavors. More than enough to really get a good variety. I was lucky enough to get to participate in the judging on Saturday and most of the wings were really good. Sadly I don’t know who was playing music at the time we were there… but boy was it surprisingly good! We also purchased a few trinkets for the gals, some candy for friends, a bag of donuts and some deep fried oreos to share. This was a good time and hopefully next year they can work out whatever details kept them from doing it bigger and better.
