Good food surrounded by a tired and not cared for establishment. Service is so so. Used to love this place.

Hmm. . Well it’s Sunday, we arrived for a table for 2 around 4:30pm made orders at about 4:40ish didn’t get our — one taco with side of beams and rice and one single tamale till 520. Not once asked us how the food was as she just brushed off her tables to the other waitress but I think they might do that on purpose so you are nkt given the opportunityto tell them that it’s overly salted as well as over priced. And as we were(not) finishing our food because we literally couldn’t eat it two tables left and they both had something to say about the service to the other tables coming in. If only they told us that before we sat down. I paid 35 $? Five or take a few bucks for one tamale, side salad, one taco and side and beans &rice with a beer. Huh? I wouldn’t have given this place any stars if I could.

Monday at 4:25pm. 2 margaritas came with salt when requested none. Took 2 requests to get 4 waters. Beans left off one order. We requested extra crispy carnitas as done 4 times in the past. We were served deep fried, inedible straw. Disgusting! Very quiet in the restaurant yet the order took forever as did the drinks. Had to request one drink twice. Server was nice enough but didn’t seem to care. Embarrassing as I took 3 people there after bragging that they had the best carnitas in the west. The food was fine after getting a decent order of pork. Just don’t go there thirsty or hungry. Won’t be going back. The chips and salsa were fabulous.

Was planning on going to another place by Victorian Square but ended up switching here last minute after some pleading from my brother for ‘Taco Tuesday.’ We were seated and served pretty speedily and our waitress/servers did a bang-up job. I was just pretty underwhelmed by the food. Coming in starving, I made the mistake of assuming the calamari app would be just standard fried fare. What I failed to read was that it was actually a breaded calamari steak«smothered» with a «lemon butter cilantro sauce.» Smothered was right but, more aptly, it was drenched. Both texture and flavor were off the mark for me in this dish — may be one of my last favorite bites in Reno; would not recommend. Sifting through the great spread of choices, I settled for the Mesquite Salad with chicken and shrimp. This was actually reasonably good. Only complaint would be that the shrimp was left on the grill for much too long. One piece in particular was especially charred and kinda ruined what could have been a pretty decent dish. Overall, I’m sure this is a solid place, especially with all of the drink specials considered. For my first foray into Reno’s Mexican scene though, this was a little disappointing. May give this place another chance in the future, but I feel more apt to try my luck somewhere else.

Mexican Food in Sparks, NV. There is a vast variety of locations you could go but when you are in the mood for great authentic mexican food«Cantina» is one of those sweet spots to stop at. Theres a few goods, a few bads but like every restaurant there is never a perfect place. Cantina offers great an excellent service, they stay very attentive to their customers. With always asking«Is there anything else» may I get you anything else. The waitress, the Staff are pretty nice and easy going people. I ordered, the Pork burrito with green sauce had asked the waitress could you make it extra spicy hot. When I received, it was not spicy but it was still delicious an very good. We also ordered their special«Root beer float with a splash of vanilla vodka»($ 7) was a excellent add on with my meal. With the overall visit to Cantina here is my grades. Service: A+ Food: B Cleanliness: A+ I would recommend this place to be a great place for Lunch or Dinner.

Meh. That about sums up our experience. Took my sister in for a bday dinner with a couple friends and my order was about the only one that came correct. The waitress was funny and pleasant but not really focused on being there. It was not busy for a Saturday night, so I’m not sure what the issue was. 2 people requested no sour cream on their meals, one of which is deathly allergic… and both came with sour cream. My sister ordered no pico, and hers came with it. A ton if it. Like if she like pico, she would be the happiest person on earth. She was a good sport and picked it off for what seemed like forever. We did send the one plate back for the allergic person and I will say they were super fast in correcting it. You would think that with all these issues, you would at least pay attention to the fact that everyone was out of drinks… I mean, the waitress was at our table like a 100 times(she forgot several follow-up questions in the beginning of the order and kept coming back). But not once did she notice. I asked for a refill on water finally… she refilled mine… and left without refilling the other person’s empty water. It was actually comical at this point since we are easy keepers for the most part. Will we be back… if we are in Sparks and hungry again. Will we make it a point to come back… meh…just like the overall experience…

We tucked in here while my husband got his tux next door. The service was friendly. The drinks were cold and delicious. We were just there for a drink(okay, two), but were offered chips and salsa. The salsa rivaled the one my favorite place in Wyoming makes. Fun hangout on a Friday afternoon.

We always have Mexican dinners here every year during Hot August Nights. The food is always fresh and the margaritas are terrific. A large selection on the menu makes it an easy choice for dinner.

What a terrible disappointment! We have been coming to Reno/Sparks for the past 15 years(Hot August Nights), and have visited this restaurant 4 years in a row because it was so good. Last Saturday night, at 6:30 pm, we were seated immediately. Our waitress showed up 10 minutes later. While writing down our drink orders, she got confused and brought the wrong drink. My 12 year old was given a large, adult cup while my grown sister was given a kids’ size cup. She had to track down our frazzled waitress for 2 refills. We finally got chips and salsa, but our meals didn’t arrive for another 45 minutes! ! The place had very few patrons, so they weren’t understaffed. We’ve gone the same night every year, so the comparison was valid. When the food arrived, it was cold and had small portions. The waitress messed up one of the entrées, but when it was replaced with correct items. We have always loved this restaurant, but the experience & food was awful!

One star for location. Right on Victorian in Sparks. I can’t comment on drinks or food because we waited too long to be seated and ended up going elsewhere. Came in on a Friday night. There were a few people at the bar and outside on the patio. Waited five minutes when a man came from the bar area and seated the lady in front of us. After being seen we kind of expected to be seated soon thereafter. Nope. We stood there waiting for a few more minutes at the hostess station waiting for someone to seat us. No one came out or acknowledged us. We left. We won’t be back.

This place is in a great location! When I walked in there was many people and live music. The staff members were very nice. I ordered I ordered Carna Asada, The rest of my group ordered appetizers and a margarita. The margarita was really good. I gave cantina Los tres hombres a three because my Carna Asada was plain and the music was too loud I couldn’t even speak to the group without yelling. My suggestion next time I go there is, not to sit close to the stage.

We hadn’t been to the Cantina in quite a while, so we decided to stop in for dinner since we were in Sparks already. I had the mesquite chicken burrito and it was delicious and a great portion for the price. I have enough leftovers for lunch :0) It’s $ 2 beer night on Wednesdays too with live music(although the music on 4⁄29 was terrible). Overall, we’ll be back again since we know what to expect from the Cantina, good food, ok service, fantastic margaritas and great specials every day of the week.

April 14, 2015 Tuesday 5:45PM dinner 4 Adults Atmosphere — 4 stars Food — 4 stars Service — 5 stars Background — We were invited to dinner and a movie, this place is in walking distance of Century Sparks 14 movie theater. Atmosphere — We sat in the bar area as we grew inpatient for the other couple. To me sitting in the bar on a slow night versus the restaurant is no difference to me. Okay we sat at a high top table instead of a booth. Food Drinks — They actually have a good beer tap selection here. I had Drake’s 1500. My Main Course — I ended up with a massive burrito by the name of Hombre. It was stuffed to start with and I was stuffed to end with. Nice red sauce and great cheese melted on top of it. The beef colorado was stuffed in that burrito and I could not get enough of it. Service — We sat in the bar at a high top table. The bar tender still took care of us. He had help with a food runner. Both of them took good care of us. Future — If in the downtown Sparks’ area I see no reason why not.

Guava margaritas. That’s all. It’s a meal in one sitting or at least it is for me! I shy away from blended margaritas most of the time, but this one is a game changer. I would not order any of the seafood items here. Not even the fish tacos. I think my friend ordered the special Paella one night and it was appalling. It smelled like we were sitting across a fish farm pier and rotting socks. I cannot believe they even called that Paella, it was sitting in a pool of oil and had squash and uncleaned mussels and mushy rice. As for the fish tacos, super bland tilapia and watery salsa. No thank you! The rice and beans were a saving grace. It’s a pretty large venue and I see it being great for large groups. They play super awesome music and have a great bartender and cocktails. Maybe the seafood was off and that was just poor decision making skills.

Cantina las Tres Hombres has stepped up their game. The server was much more attentive this go around – and was charming, to boot. The food was better and fresher. This was a very enjoyable visit.

First time we’ve been here and it’s a big place. When we came in, the place was still empty so the bartender told us just to seat ourselves. We ordered steak fajitas and arroz con pollo. Steak fajitas was very delicious, the sauce was excellent and the steak was perfectly cooked. My arroz con pollo was tasty with shredded chicken. The salsa was tasty too eventhou for me wasn’t too spicy Service was great, friendly and always checked on us. The portion was huge at least for us and worth the price for the taste and portion This place is worth a second visit.

I have used Cantina for several catering events. Also for the past two years we have held out annual holiday party at the restaurant. I have to say these guys are fantastic! They close off much of the restaurant just for us, provide a buffet that includes carnitas, enchiladas, salad, rice and beans and fajitas for about $ 14 per person. In addition they provided the DJ for an extra $ 200. All the food was set up and kept up throughout the night and once everyone was done eating they set out some to go containers to let people take food home. All the staff are extremely nice and accommodating with special kudos going to Hiemee(spelled incorrectly I’m sure) and Hillary. The two of them make a great team and really know how to put on a great event. I have had them cater smaller luncheons as well and they deliver which is nice too. They are always able to recommend menu items as well. All in all the food is good, service is good and they are very professional and more than competent caterers. If you’re looking to put on a great event you should consider Cantina!

This review is for the bar area only. This one is a tough review. On one hand the service we got was rough. They seemed to be a man down for a while and it really showed, but on the otherhand, when our waiter arrived he was really cool, helpful and took GREAT care of us. Then the food had two hands too. On one the food was decent, and nothing to really complain about, standard bar fare with a really tasty item called the chingalinga I think. But on the otherhand it was ‘merkinized mexican bar food. One thing we for sure will get next time will be the grilled chicken nachos instead of the shredded chicken. Just too bland. The drinks also had some duality. We had two of the special drinks and those were really good. But my standard bloody mary was so lame that the waiter took it on himself to make me one with much more flavor. I know, I know bloody mary requests at a Cantina? The atmosphere in the bar is actually nice and open when we went. It seems lots of the Victorian bars have this same vibe. And thankfully the prices during happy hour were really good. So good I think the next time I am looking for a friendly place to have a few drinks with people in Sparks, I will scoot on down for their happy hour for sure. Parking may be a little tight during busy times, but when we went, parking was right out front and plentiful across the street.
