Another great local business me and my parents patronize when it comes to local BBQ. Sometimes it can be a hit and miss such as the ribs can be too burnt and dry or not fall off the bone. But we still come back since its local and we don’t want to drive and spend more to go to famous daves. Tip there Mac and cheese best side item to get.

Our first time eating at the location on victorian since they moved long time ago. But i have had the ribs at the rib cook off since then. The ribs were every bit as good as they were at the cook off. The brisket was so tender you could eat it with a spoon and the cheesy grits were to die for and that was just my plate lol. Our waitress was awesome, even giving us a little history lesson of BJ’s history in the area. Prices were what you would expect from a top of the line BBQ house, but not over the top. 3 grown men with dessert was $ 70+$ 20 tip.

Their meats are delicious, but go before 6pm if you can… the meats are dried out a bit the later it gets. The fries are too skinny for my liking, and personally I like a fresher taste for my frying oils. Finally, the potato salad and coleslaw are decent, but I suspect they might not be made in house. I do have to repeat, the meats and sauces are all great — the other things are the only reason BJ’s gets only 3 stars.

The wife and I came here on a Sunday morning for some breakfast before driving home to San Francisco. It was also Mother’s Day so there was a wait for a table but we were able to score some seats at the counter. We both had the BBQ brisket and eggs. The brisket was melt in your mouth tender and the home fried potatoes had just the right amount of crispness. Our waitress was friendly and attentive — definitely one of the better breakfast spots I’ve been to in the Reno/Sparks area. We will definitely return!

This is my very favorite place to eat, lately! Lol Locally owned. Brunch on Sunday is so tasty, mimosas and eggs Bene on home made biscuits. They make the best chili, pulled pork and beef brisket! The only bummer is… They are closed on Sunday nights. Always have great service no matter how busy they get. Yummmmm

Had breakfast here on our way to Tahoe. All I can say is SUPERBFOOD! Service was slow, but understandable since we came at a very busy hour. Everything was cooked to our liking and portions were HUGE, enough to keep you full for the day. I definitely recommend coming here and hopefully next time, we can try the lunch menu

Once upon a time(no this isn’t a fairy tale but has a very happy ending), I was in high school and seeking donations for a celebration for an event for my freshman class… We were required by a business class to contact local businesses requesting donations. I remember calling BJs(at their previous location) and they donated a significant amount of macaroni and potato salad to our event — which happened to have been more than most other local businesses. Fast forward a «few» years to 2013ish, a friend of mine reminded me of BJs by inviting me there for breakfast. Their corned beef hash benedict is amazing! Since that day, BJs has been a regular part of our eating out rotation. For breakfast, lunch and dinner! I’ve never had anything beyond delicious and am always looking forward to suggesting BJs when we can’t decide where to go. Most recently, my girlfriend got the B Street Fifty-Fifty Burger — 50% bacon in the burger patty, bacon outside of the burger and bacon mayo. It was incredible! Their sweet potato fries are perfectly delicious every time. The sweet potato crunch side is really sweet and almost more of a dessert, but that’s more of just my preference and something i should have expected. I would highly recommend BJs for great food and awesome service!

Walking in I just knew I wanted bacon and eggs. WHOA!!! It’s tri-tip Tuesday. Looking at the menu of this special of the day I choose the tri-tip and eggs with sourdough toast the the home fries. Out comes breakfast all looking so yummy with oh yeah, house made apple sauce. The tri-tip as rare as I could get it and the eggs over easy. Right in the middle of the plate is one of their many bbq sauces. Cutting into the tri-tip it was very tender so I forked it up with a bit of sauce and some home fries. WOW! Now just the tri-tip alone… Oh my goodness. Super full of flavor. The staff and food are always so good here. They have great specials and many tasty things on the menu. On the way out the door make sure you grab a few of their great bbq sauces. I wish the sold jars of the apple sauce. Looking forward to coming back soon and try the Trough. See you soon BJ’s BBQ!

Where do you begin when you frequent a local restaurant that you just love so much. First introduced a few years back when I met my best friend for breakfast, yes I said it breakfast?! They serve the breakfast until 12 P.M. during the week and brunch until 2 P.M. Sundays. They offer generous portions at a great value. My last visit was yesterday morning picking up my to go order. Corn beef hash stacker is my go to for breakfast and is always a treat! This particular dish is corn beef hash on top of their home fries,(these potatoes have bacon bits and are so heavenly) served with two poached eggs on top and hollandaise sauce and your choice of a side of toast or biscuit. I always ask for the hollandaise on the side as it can be on the heavier side if its smothered in sauce. This is available in the half order and full order. See my pic I posted a few weeks ago, I am just a little late on this review. Oh and if you like cinnamon rolls, try it at breakfast and they always go quickly so do ask your server upon arrival to ensure you’ll get one. I promise you won’t be disappointed! Served hot with caramel sauce and topped off with candied pecans. I meant to take a picture when I had it last Sunday, but it didn’t make it five minutes! Lol As far as lunch or dinner here, I have had their pulled pork, beef ribs, meat platters with dirty rice and cheddar grits as my favorite sides well and their delicious corn bread. They are famous for their«kick-ass» fries. I have had them for breakfast when I was pregnant with my daughter quite frequently, so good! Start a stamp card if you think you’ll be like me and have them once every two weeks. I’ll never forget the first time I tried their beef ribs and beef brisket, the meat was so juicy and tender it melted in my mouth. The smoked flavor is a memory embedded in my taste buds, so good it keeps me coming back! Say yes to their hot sauce, I usually will have the hot BBQ sauce then top it off with their hot sauce. This place is one of my all time favorites ever and I always recommend it to tourists in our casino when they ask me where I like to go to breakfast and lunch. Just a tip tends to be busier on Saturdays and Sundays so expect some wait time, but I promise it will be worth the wait!

Had a early lunch meeting with a client. We tried to go to a couple of our usual lunch stops, with none of them open we decided to try this place. Am I glad we did!!! I am a huge corned beef and hash fan. It’s what I always order to judge the breakfast menu. I seen that had their own«signature» hash. I of course ordered it… Best hash I think I have ever eaten. There is not a single thing on the plate not home made, it was amazing, probably one of the best meals I have ever eaten. If you want a good… no amazing breakfast give this place a shot. You’ll be glad you did or at least I was.

Beef Rib Monday! Those three words are really enough to explain the 5-Stars I’m bestowing upon BJ’s BBQ. Why you ask? No one is brave enough to serve these brontosaurus sized bad boys! I say brave because these aren’t easy to cook, so if you see em on a menu it’s anybody’s guess as to whether or not they’ll be tender and tasty or tough as nails. At BJ’s you know you can count on Jay and the fam to do it right. And boy are they right! But only on Monday! Fat is flavor, and beef ribs are rich! The best way to enjoy em is simply seasoned and smoked so the flavor of the beef shines through. BJ’s does theirs just like Black’s, Smitty’s, and Kreuz BBQ in the heart of Texas, with a liberal application of cracked black pepper and salt. After hours on the smoker, the exterior turns to a delicious bark that is oh so delicious! They really don’t need any sauce, but they come with a bourbon BBQ glaze, which I opted for on the side. Honestly all I really wanted to add was a touch of BJ’s hot sauce! The three rib platter comes with two sides for $ 13, a helluva deal. They also offer a half slab for $ 24, which must take 3 – 4 people to finish. I want these again, and again, and again, an again! So glad I learned they serve them! Next visit will have to be for Kick Ass Wednesday when they serve a bunch of tasty variations on their famous Kick Ass Fries submitted by fans, with really fun names!

The service was great. I’m no BBQ expert, but I just didn’t think the food lived up to my standards. The ribs were ok, but even the ones at Costco are better. The hot links are kinda unique and crumbly, but mediocre in my eyes. The brisket is good but very fatty. BBQ beans were too sweet for my taste, and the grits were not special either. We ordered the cinnamon bun for dessert. I wish it had a sweet frosting on top(cream cheese or vanilla sauce) for a extra kick– but it didn’t. it was still tasty.

Stopped in spur of the moment, never heard of the place. Good bbq meats, ribs a are fall of off the bone(slightly over cooked by me but most like it that way) and moist. Really good brisket. Must get the dirty rice as a side, delicious! Great service, very friendly staff had a family feeling to it. Bought extra sauce to take with me it was so good. Will be back!

My husband and I come here every once in a while for Sunday brunch and invariably get the same thing every time – he gets the shrimp and grits, and I get the kick ass fries. It’s awesome every time. My husband’s grits come with shrimp, cheese and two eggs, and the fries(only get the full size plate if you’re sharing!) I get are slathered in onions, cheese, sour cream, bbq sauce and of course, shredded bbq pork. We get a ton of food and our bill was $ 32. It’s always busy and you can expect a wait but it’s worth it. The staff is always friendly and are very attentive. My only complaint is that their hottest bbq sauce, «Nitro», is not hot enough for me. I guess I’m used to Thai food but all their sauces are too sweet for me.

Best and most gluttonous breakfast in Sparks! This is the place to go for the cheat meal of all cheat meals. At least if you cheat at breakfast you still have the whole day to work it off, right? The Sparks Marina is just down the road. Planning for at least a stroll right after breakfast wouldn’t hurt anyone. I’m sure there is a way to go light here but I personally wouldn’t try it at this place. BJ’s BBQ, not to be confused with the BJ’s Brewhouse chain of restaurants, has been around since I was a teenager. I actually worked in the same shopping center as them at an Ice cream shop that’s no longer there and I remember taking lunch or dinner breaks there from time to time. I was 16 or 17 back then. They only started offering breakfast a few years ago after their big move to their location on Victorian Avenue. While I am a fan of their lunch and dinner BBQ menu, this review is all about breakfast. The Words from their own website say«Our breakfast offerings are house made, handmade and fresh» and there is nothing but truth in that boast. This is a true country style, stick to your ribs home style breakfast that reminds me so much of my own dearly missed but long gone from this earth, Arkansas born and raised– truly Southern Grandma Ora. This is the kind of breakfast she would have and did serve us in her farmhouse. Yes, she lived in a small farmhouse on a walnut orchard. She was the epitome of a southern farmhouse granny. They’ve got the Reno breakfast vibe down too. Mimosas, Bloody Mary’s, champagne and even beer are on the breakfast and brunch menu. If you’re going to Glutton Town you might as well go all in, maybe save that marina walk and head over to the Galaxy Theater Recliners first. The fluffy house made buttermilk biscuits with a cup of gravy on the side made me think of my grandma after one bite and the tender, breaded and perfectly seasoned chicken fried steak was served hot with a thick country gravy that’s to die for. I try chicken fried steak at least once(rarely twice) at almost every breakfast place and this one is my favorite. You can get this a la carte or you can get the full breakfast which also includes eggs, mine were scrambled and so fluffy and soft and some killer seasoned crispy home fries or you can get grits! The skillet breakfasts are also absolutely wonderful, all large and full of the best tasting ingredients they could find. This is a great place for sharing, or taking a box home, everything is huge. It’s also great for meeting family members, groups, kids, special occasions or just everyday. It is not a great place for diets or calorie counting. You could pull it off but it wouldn’t be as fun. It is perfect for a cheat day. Because it’s worth the cheat. Expect to wait on the weekends. The breakfast awesomeness isn’t so secret anymore.

Been here three times for lunch. Each time there are people waiting(no more than minutes) for a table. That’s a good sign. I’ve had ribs(excellent), shrimp po boy, and a chef salad. The ribs are great — sauce is a great compliment. The salad I wasn’t a huge fan of. Bunch of ice berg with some great toppings. The po boy was top notch, save the roll. It overpowered the sandwich a bit. Love the sides, fries, sweet potato fries, cole slaw and beans are all top notch. Service is fun and friendly — I will keep coming back.

Some of you out there may know I’m a big fan of beef ribs. Not the short ribs like in Korean cooking, but the long ribs that come right off the side of a rib eye or prime rib roast. There’s very few if any BBQ joints offering these beef ribs. So when my local Unilocal friend Steve T. recommended BJ’s BBQ for beef ribs I had to check it out! BJ’s offers beef ribs only on Monday’s as a special of the day. $ 12.95 for 3 ribs and $ 23.95 for a 7 rib full rack, both includes 2 sides and corn bread. When I hear BJ’s, … BBQ is usually not the first thing on my mind … this BJ is NOT the BJ’s Brewhouse at the Summit Mall … what’d ya think I meant? So I actually returned back to Reno from the Bay Area a day early just to come here for the beef rib Monday. I get a nice seat by a window(better light for my pics!) and I already know what I’m getting. My server is quite nice and friendly. Full rack and for my 2 sides I get 2X on the fries! None of the other offered side got me too excited, like mac an cheese, potato salad, BBQ beans or Coleslaw, so 2X fries it was! As I wait, I feel very comfortable here, I dunno it’s just a nice relaxed interior and not super noisy. The faint smell of smoked meat permanents the air in a good way. My fries and triple cornbread arrive first. Holy Freakin fries, that is one huge mountain of fries! Think big dinner plate piled with as many fires as one could fit. These are nice hand cut fries, no frozen fries here! OMG! and then the ribs arrive! Seven big juicy meaty ribs cover the platter. I asked for the house bourbon BBQ sauce on the side, so I could view these ribs in all their glory. Yes, it was that impressive! My food poses for pics of course! The fries are great and remind me of my fave burger place growing up on Oakland, hand cut thin and crispy, but the real star are these beef ribs! To sauce or not to sauce… hmmm, I’ll try both ways! My first bite into the succulent smoked meat was YES! an OMG! life changer! The meat was cooked long and slow, like many things in life I like that way. Cooked to pull easily off the bone and that heavenly smokiness was just like …well, you know what. Then I dribbled a little of the BBQ sauce across my meat and bit in. Ahhh … my tongue could taste the smokiness and tang of the sauce with a hint of sweetness, then melding in with the smoked beefy meat. Oh hell yeah, this is better WITH sauce! I continue with my beefy rib ecstasy, wallowing in the pleasure of the tastes and slight chewiness of the well cooked meat. I come across occasionally a nice vein of fat, along with the sauce and smoke, make for a wonderful sensation. My fingers are a mess! More napkins please! I’m told these ribs are cooked in the same smoker as the pork ribs, but braised in beer and covered in foil as they need to cook a long time and then released into the smoke. Alternating between the perfect fries and my scrumptious meal of beef ribs, I could only make it into my rack of ribs, 3 ribs. No skimping on the meat on these ribs! I knew I wasn’t gonna finish when I ordered, but I knew my BF would be disappointed if he didn’t get to taste as well. So take home was in the plans already. My server brought over a couple of boxes(green conscious recycled paper type) and a container for the BBQ sauce. I was glad to see no styro containers here. I am gonna have to say thanks to Steve T. for the tip on the beef ribs here. I will have to say, these beef ribs at BJ’s BBQ are the for real, best I’ve had. We cooked some beef ribs at home once, but not near as good and wonderful as BJ’s. If the rest of the food here is as great as the beef ribs, then I’ll certainly be back for more! Get down here to BJ’s BBQ on Monday’s and get in touch with your caveman(girl) self and grab hold of these big bones!

I’ve got a friend that LOVESBBQ, so I find myself at BJs whenever this friend visits. I can only assume the pulled pork is magical as they’ve never ordered anything else. I can’t give you a review of the meat but I can say the robs smelled out-of-this-world good. The potato salad and the mac n cheese are super tasty — if you smother them in BBQ sauce it adds a whole other level of YUM. This last trip I tried the veggie burger and quite frankly it was mushy and tasted a little like falafel. I’ll be skipping that next time and just ordering a ton of side dishes! The service is a little slow, I think this is just the pace, but they are beyond friendly and helpful and the food is always very quick to come out of the kitchen. Random side note– they have Blind Dog coffee.

I was not impressed by the food or service. I expressed my dislike to the waitress and she could have cared less. I didn’t get a refill on my drink and my french dip was very bland. I told the cashier I was unhappy with the service and the food. She just handed me the credit card slip to sign. Won’t go back. It used to be such good place to eat back in the day.

I’ve been coming to BJ’s Barbecue since it was in its old location off Prater. I like this new location because it is a lot bigger. I have always been a huge fan of their pulled pork. It is tender and flavorful, even without sauce! I usually get the Barbecue Potato; an absolutely giant Russet potato filled with pulled pork, cheese, green onions and topped with sour cream and barbecue sauce. The sauce is so delicious as well, but if you prefer very spicy sauce, even the hot sauce probably will not fulfill your desires. I do not like spicy sauces, but I usually get the medium and it is perfect for me. One thing I am not a fan of is their sandwiches. They do not provide enough meat for the price, and they put the sauce on the bun, rather than the meat, causing the bun to become soggy. If you do get the sandwiches, be aware of this and ask for the sauce on the side. They do brunch and breakfast as well, but I have not indulged in either. I have heard, though, that their cinnamon roll French Toast is amazing! The service here is amazing as well. My boyfriend and I had a female server(can’t remember her name) the last time we were here, and she made me a special, alcoholic Arnold Palmer drink that was to die for. All of the servers I have had here are great. All in all, this is my favorite BBQ place in town. I do wish their they were open on Sunday’s until dinner time, but that’s not a big deal in the long run.

Loved, loved the BBQ sauce at BJ’s! They have a huge smoker and it is behind glass so that you can see where all the magic happens and they sell all their sauces up front. We stopped in here on our road trip and fell in love with the sauce and food. I ordered the BBQ chicken plate with coleslaw and chili, so good! The chicken was smoky, the sauce was not overly sweet, it was tangy and a little spice on it… Not enough for this spicy mamacita, so I doused it with their house hot sauce. not very spicy either, but very flavorful. The chili was a little on the spicy side and it was really tasty on a cold night. We did not have room for dessert, but I did nab a bottle of their epic BBQ sauce. I will be back for more delicious smoked meaty goodness!

My husband was craving for some ribs so we tried this place. It wasn’t too crowded at lunch time. I ordered the hot links sandwich and I chose a potato salad for the side. And I chose the hot BBQ sauce for the links. Potato salad was good but the links a little bit dry, wasn’t juicy, but it taste good. The BBQ hot sauce yeaa forget about it, of course it wasn’t hot at all for me a girl who can drink fire. My husband ordered the championship pork ribs and he chose the cheddar grits and collard greens. The ribs was good but not melt in your mouth. The cheddar grits was yummy and the collard greens was okay. Service was nice and friendly. But I think I won’t be back, not because of their food is bad but it just not our favorite.

I love bacon and burgers so discovering the 50⁄50 burger on the menu made with half bacon gave me the meat sweats! The burger isn’t a flavor explosion like a good piece of meat candy, but it’s not supposed to be — otherwise it would simply be a bacon sandwich! It’s more like a subtle cross between a good burger and mildly smoked pork — still great tasting and fun to try! The bun is 5 stars, the pickle is unique — not dill or sweet, but the real star was the caramelized onions! The best onions on any sandwich EVER! The skinny non battered fries were 4 stars.

I have been to BJ’s many a time, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I love bbq, and especially ribs, which they do a fantastic job on. This trip I tried something different. With a tip from a fellow Unilocaler michael, i went for there 50⁄50 burger. This burger is made up of 50 percent beef, 50 percent bacon, with two strips of bacon on it and bacon mayo. This my friends is bacon heaven. The meat was not dry and over cooked, it was garnished with lettuce, tomato and onions. You know you have a good burger when your taste buds are on over load trying to comprehend all this bacon booya. I am not much of a mayo fan, but the bacon mayo was delicious, in fact i did no t even add any mustard. Just had it the way it was served, which was awesome. My side was mac and cheese which is always full off cheesy love. The only thing that i did not like, an d this is a personal preference, was the bun. It was vert thick and chewy. The waitress explained they had to find a bun that would not fall apart and disintegrate. So try the burger you will love it. ,

Wow! Yum! If you judge food based on the interior then this is not the place for you. It’s simple. Feels like a Denny’s. But the bathroom was very clean. Ok, fantastic ribs. I also like the sausage and pulled pork. The sides are very good from the French fries to Cole slaw to beans. I’m told that the potato salad is not made in the restaurant but everything else is home made. I chose a local IPA to complement my BBQ feast and found myself in heaven. Put this on your trip to Reno!

This is the place to go if you enjoy a BBQ place that is confident in their ability to smoke a meat and doesn’t hope to cover up their ineptitude with a lot of salt and sauce for cheap flavor enhancement. We shared the three meat plate with two sides: BBQ chicken, pork, and sausage; with mac-n-cheese, and crunchy sweet potatoes. It was great and plenty of food for us to share. We ordered the medium sauce and it wasn’t spicy at all, or overloaded with salt — a plus! Washed down with a Coors, it made a fine meal for a retirement party. The group dining situation can use improvement. If you are having a difficult time splitting a check for a party, then it is time to look into upgrading your POS system. Splitting a bill down to each individual regardless of party size really shouldn’t be an issue in 2015. Overall, a fine evening of pigging out!

I like to pay homage to local places when I can. We were nearby and Bbq sounded good. It wasn’t busy when we got there but it was only about 5:30 pm. By the time we left it was packed. We were greeted and seated immediately and our drink order was taken right away. After that two more staff came by and asked if we ordered drinks yet. Bonus points for the staff attentiveness. My husband and I shared a bowl of loaded bake potato soup. Very yummy with chunks of potato, bacon, green onion and cheddar cheese. I prefer my potato soup to be so think the spoon stands up by itself. This soup was on the soupy side but great none-the-less. I had Pete ’ s BBQ Meatloaf with sweet potato crunch and sweet potato fries. The meat loaf comes with your choice of mild, medium, or hot Bbq sauce. I asked for a medium and she came back and asked if I wanted the sauce on the side or on the meatloaf. More bonus points for checking :-). The meatloaf was a generous slice with a nice smoky flavor that was compliment nicely by the BBQ sauce. The sweet potato fries and sweet potato crunch were generous portions and very good. It also comes with a slab or cornbread and butter. The staff checked back frequently to see if we were doing okay and we’re genuinely friendly. The prices are reasonable for the portion sizes. I’m so glad they not only have very good food, but great service also. We’ll done B.J. ‘s, thanks for a great experience.
