Great place for an «all American meal» followed up with some ice cream. If the weather is nice there are a bunch of picnic tables to sit on outside and a small wooden train for kids to play on.

Great place to enjoy the nice weather, and their ice cream is the best. If you’ve never tried the flavor«gram central» from their hard ice cream list… do it! It will change your life.

Pretty basic sandwiches. The portions were about the right size. They have good fried clams. But some of their ice cream is a little too sweet, such as the cotton candy. It’s a self-service place and the staff is friendly. The food is done quickly and it’s overall a good restaurant.

I have never been impressed with this place and have pretty much stopped going since they aren’t the only ice cream place in town. Why? Prices are ok, parking can be a pain especially when there is a long line of customers at the outdoor windows and I don’t know if they still have it but the wooden train that is outside for the kids to play in always smells like a child wet themselves while playing in it. The actual food? It’s nothing to write home about; I don’t know if it’s the ice cream flavor(s) I order but I always found ice crystals in my ice cream. There sandwiches and fries aren’t anything I couldn’t make at home — and sometimes WAY too greasy! You have to sit for your meal and they give you your receipt with your number on it, they then call numbers over their(at times hard to hear) intercom so you can pick it up. Not terrible but mediocre.

Food is great, don’t mind the wait. It’s well worth it! Love small town places, always been the same over all these years. All of the food is great! I say why change what isn’t broken, obviously they feel the same. Keep up the great work

Because I always associate Summer House with the summer, and because I am so sick of this GD snowy winter, I tried some mind over matter manipulation today and went to Summer House for a cone and tried to «will away» the cold weather and snow. This place is a treasure — its like stepping into a time warp into a small family friendly burger and ice cream shack. The burgers, dogs, grilled sandwiches, clubs and wraps are priced the way Fonzie would have bought them. You’d be hard pressed to find anything here for over $ 5. But the star here is ice cream in all of its glorious permutations. Hand packed, soft serve, shakes, floats, frappes, coolers, slushes, sundaes, dips-crunch coats-flavor bursts — you’ll be light headed trying to make a choice. I ordered a «small» raspberry chocolate chip frozen yogurt on a sugar cone– and it was embarrassingly huge. Cost me about $ 3. So go– take a ride into the country to a wonderful small town, be served by an army of young, competent, and friendly smiling faces. And don’t forget to give those snow banks the evil eye…

We love The Summer House! We have been going here for a few years now for ice cream(delicious soft serve!) and just recently began dining-in with our 2 year old. We eat outside so our son can play on the train and he thoroughly loves it. As for the food — it’s pretty basic but it’s so reasonably priced. Last time we went I got an egg salad sandwich. It was good egg salad on sourdough toast and it was very, very inexpensive. The three of us can often eat there(icecream included) for around $ 20. Great value, nice atmosphere — especially for kids — and friendly staff. We’ll go back again and again.

reminds me of a place on LI called All-American. prices are great for a place that’s a burger joint with excellent secondary choices as well.

Been coming to The Summer House since I was a kid, way before the addition of more seating and kiddie size picnic tables outdoors. This is your typical burger/fried food/ice cream joint. The burgers come as what New Englanders know to be called the ‘setup’-on toast, and you tell them the toppings you want as you order. Believe it or not that have really great soup here, especially the cream of asparagus, and broccoli cheddar. They have a wide variety of flavors of ice cream, my favorite being the peppermint stick. They also have a cherry dip for soft serve. You can dine in, or out, and watch the kiddos play on the wooden train and bridge while you wait for your order # to be called on the loudspeaker. This place can be extremely busy on warm summer days, sometimes you wait an hour for your food. They have had groupons before, and when you go to use it, they put the remainder on a giftcard, so you don’t have to spend it all at once! This place is a staple if you live in the Southwick/Granby area!

I started going to the Summer House back in high school with friends, then as a student at Westfield State. I haven’t been back in years until this past week. The renovations look great and made for a lot more inside seating — which is great since they are open year-round. The food is exactly as I remember it. Nothing fancy or special, but also not greasy or soggy. I always leave happy and full after a big cheeseburger on toast, spicy curly fries and a peanut butter milkshake. This time, we brought our dogs and sat outside at the picnic tables and enjoyed the crisp weather. If Summer House delivered, I’d be in trouble.

Yummmmm. This place was cheap($ 15 for lunch for three, $ 9 for ice cream for three) and soooo good. I took my grandma here yesterday because she loves it and I see why. We both got the light bites which were half a sandwich(tuna for me, turkey for her), a cup of soup(vegetarian Broc Cheddar, omg), and a small soda. My BF got the Big Cheeseburger Melt and a large soda. Kind of confusing to order because I kept looking at the side and I forgot to order the BF fries because they come separate. But seriously, I could eat that broccoli cheese soup forever. And the server says it has no chicken broth. So I am in heaven. The BF was happy with the cheeseburger melt and it was on bread and didn’t look too too big. I think he was mostly happy he was getting ice cream later. The dining room was clean and they call your numbers(though kind of softly in the dining room) when your food is ready. We found a seat for gma and she was very happy with her lunch. Afterwards we went outside to order ice cream and sat at one of their numerous picnic tables. I ordered the small peanut butter cup sundae, BF got the banana split, and Gma opted for a kiddie pb cup. BF and Gma were happy but I was a little disappointed by the pb cup sundae. The girl asked what kind of ice cream I wanted(uhh pb cup??) and when I got it, I didn’t really taste any separate peanut butter or chocolate or pb cups other than the ice cream with maybe some chocolate sauce and whipped cream, nuts, and a cherry. PB cup sundae says like at least a few smushed Reese’s in there. Oh well. The kiddie pb cup was actually quite large for the price and the banana split looked good. One downside is that they don’t call ice cream numbers. I moved Gma to a table so she could sit while we waited and waited and waited. Finally the girl called out our whole order because she«didn’t know where we went.» but she did rescoop the kiddie pb cup because it had melted more than the sundaes. I’m not really sure why the number on your receipt doesn’t work outside(unless you order food) but whatever… It was still yummy and the girl was sweet to rescoop for my Gma.
