School of Rock West Broward

I want to start my review by saying, I really loved my time as a student of the School of Rock. I truly believe that School of Rock is a great concept that works. That being said, my time as an employee with the Schools of Rock in Broward county was horrid. I was hired full time at the School of Rock Pompano Beach after the employee before me was fired for having a relationship with one of the underaged students. Immediate red flags everywhere, but I took the job. A lot of employees would talk about sex and drugs openly. There was no HR department when I was working. There was one person that I could speak to if there were issues, but there were several times where legitimate problems and concerns of mine were swept under the rug. There were many times employees came to work high or would get high at work. But there was one time where an employee came to work completely wreaking of marijuana. I let “HR” know, and I was gaslit into believing that it was all in my head. He sprayed perfume on himself and that was that. It also seemed like it was okay to talk about and engage in sexual activity with co-workers, but there were times I felt it was too far. This created an extremely unhealthy and uncomfortable work environment that I’m grateful I’m not a part of anymore. Later on, I believe I was fired for failing to show up to work multiple days due to my worsening depression and anxiety. However, I believe that my ex, who shared details of his sex life with co-workers and child students, still works for the company. While I was re-hired later on to teach and substitute, things never did feel the same, which was heartbreaking. The School of Rock was the only place where I was ever able to make friends and be myself. I can only hope that the working conditions have improved, but considering who is still currently employed, I honestly doubt it. In conclusion, based off of my personal experiences attending and working for the Schools of Rock in Broward County, I don’t believe they’re safe places for students or staff. None of these things should be going on in the same place where children are taught.
