I’ve debated whether I should update my review given my last few experiences, but I can’t help but feel they’ve gone WAY downhill. The pedicure chairs are great, the shoulder massages are wonderful, the décor is nice and the prices are good. But there are just too many negatives at this point to keep me coming back. Apparently some new people have been hired, and things have changed for the worse. I came in the other day — after being a loyal customer for 2 years mind you — and asked for a manicure, to which the woman working just shook her head and said«No». I said I could wait a little while, and then she said she had a group of pedicures coming in soon and they wouldn’t have time. That’s understandable, sure, but the way she spoke to me was rude, and I was basically just pushed out rather than offered a better time to come back. Not only that, but the last several times I’ve been in, my manicures have not lasted past a couple days without chipping! Last time I went for a manicure the day before an interview, and at my interview the next morning(after pretty much just showering and going to bed), my nails were already VERY chipped — which defeated the whole purpose of getting my nails done in the first place!!! I don’t know what they’re doing wrong over here, but unfortunately I will be finding a new nail salon in the area.

The reason I gave LUX2 stars is because it seems as if the tools were sterile– however I didn’t see them come out of a sterilizer, just in a sterile bag. They also had VinylLux Polish(little did I know she would apply it wrong without the properly VinylLux top coat). The woman who did my nails(no idea her name since she never introduced herself) seemed to really struggle to conduct my basic manicure service. I left with polish on my cuticle and on my fingers. Sorry LUX, I won’t be returning.

It was a nice enough experience, but my gel manicure started to peel after a week or so. Contrast that with the one I got at a different salon further down Queen St. that stayed on without damage for over two weeks.

I’d go back because she did a pretty good job with my cuticles, but she didn’t apply polish to the entire nail and when I pointed it out she didn’t fix it.

Got a beautiful manicure on Tuesday! I was taken as a walk in and the woman who helped me did an excellent job! Clean salon, professional, and I haven’t chipped yet! Given my lifestyle and being a busy mom, going 2 days without a chip is a MIRACLE! Will definitley return! :) My only suggestion to the salon would be to attempt to be a bit more welcoming and friendly to people when they first walk in– otherwise they were great!

I’ve hesitated in giving this review and have given them a few extra chances to change my mind. After my last visit, I’d be remiss in not sharing my experience. I would have been pleased to give this feedback directly to the establishment, but there in lies one of the problems. When they opened, they were great. Several employees spoke some English, they were all dressed professionally, they gave great services, the place was clean and there was pride in ownership. None of those things are true anymore. I’ve gotten a rash the last two times they gave me paraffin, which leads me to logically conclude they are reusing it. Ewwww gross. The manicurist attempted to cut my cuticles with a tool from her pocket, not out of a sterilizer. Ewwww gross. When she finally did get a clean tool, the woman made me bleed badly on four FOUR! fingers. The gel on one hand is thick and over my cuticles. It looks terrible and I had to go somewhere else to fix it be I was too grossed out and frustrated with Lux to get it rectified there. I love wasting $ 35. None of the employees had on professional or clean clothes. No one smiles. No one seems to know what’s going on. No one seems trained in how to give pedis or manis. It made me wonder if they were there against their will and God forbid they are, that’s certainly not a practice or business I want to encourage/support. No one speaks any English in there so there was no one to talk to about this experience. They all just looked at me with blank faces when I asked to speak to a manager. They may still have the nicest pedi chairs and best hours in town, but I highly recommend finding another place. And when you do, would you let me know where?!

I have heard good things about this salon from friends, and the help reviews were awesome, so I figured I’d try them. I will never go to another mail salon again! Lux is amazing, clean, welcoming and professional. Not to mention thier prices are in the lower end. While thier prices may be lower compared to other salons in the area they produce high quality work. I showed my arista picture of what I was interested in, with a slight color change and he replicated it perfectly! I’m currently obsessed with my nails, the shape, texture and shine is amazing. I had some bumps and ridges from my previous salon, but with a basic fill he fixed all those problems and they were trimmed and polished very nicely, you would never guess it was my old lumpy nails! I will definitely be back, Lux nails has a new lifetime customer.

I went to LUX nail salon last night for a fill in and a pedicure. I was extremely pleased with my entire experience! When I arrived I was promptly assisted by a very nice man. He was extremely helpful in finding the perfect shade of pink I was looking for. Then he immediately showed me to the pedicure station. They have 5 or so different pedicures you can get but I opted for the $ 26 one. It was awesome. Then it was time for my nails. I just needed a fill in with a gel polish mani. They came out great! The polish and shape(claws) were perfect and exceeded my expectations. They even stayed open past closing to finish, but never did I feel like she was rushing, I was super grateful. The woman who did my nails was amazing. She knew what she was doing and put time and care into her work. I was very impressed with LUX nails, I might have to make it my new nail salon! Def. going back for all my nail care needs :)

Used to love this place and go all the time, despite having the occasional subpar service. Because they were always attentive and fixed breaks etc. The busier they’ve gotten, the more rude they become. There’s no reason why you can’t talk to your customers when they come through the door. Simply tell me a better time to come back. My last couple of experiences I’ve been left standing there being ignored and I finally walked out both times. Hire a receptionist, if you can’t handle managing your shop and taking customers. I’ll be back on the search for another salon to make my regular spot. What a shame. Q
