Solid breakfast in a diner desert! Although it doesn’t look like a diner, they serve up diner fare, and do a great job at it. Corned beef hash is always on point. and props to them for asking how crispy you want your hash and potatoes. Coffee was weak. that’s the only negative I’ve got. Prices are CHEAP! $ 7 for corned beef hash, 2 eggs, homefries, toast, and coffee.

Classic New England diner with typical diner fare. Friendly staff and quick service. I will say that it’s an abomination for any institution offering pancakes or French Toast NOT to have the option for real maple syrup. You can use butter and honey instead, but it isn’t even close to a fair substitution. Seriously dudes: GETSOMEREALMAPLESYRUP! The corned beef tastes better than it looks, which is like Spam squeezed out of a toothpaste container. The home fries were weak and the Texas French toast tastes like it came from the prison cafeteria section in a Sysco catalogue. The apple pie was unforgivably atrocious. Had I eaten that alone, I’d have given this place one star. Truly atrocious. Toss whatever recipe that is in the trash and start over.

Way overrated for all hype this place gets. Save ur time/money and go to IHOP. It’s trashy and staff aren’t friendliest.

Was passing by and decided to give them a try. It wasn’t the best but it wasn’t the worse. Everything to me was tasteless like it was missing something? I don’t know if I would return for breakfast maybe I’ll return for lunch or dinner to give them a try.

Food was OK. Service was horrible. Young male waiter who thought he owned the place. Very arrogant, pretty much threw the food at us. If I were to get him again I would ask to change tables.

Stopped in last night for dinner with the wife. She ordered the Pork Osso Bucco special, I went with a kielbasa & sauerkraut sandwich. My sandwich was OK, but she really liked her Osso Bucco, it was very tasty. We had a mozzarella appetizer before our meals(like we always do, best mozzarella sticks around). Service was stellar again.

4 stars because breakfast is amazing, love the homemade corned beef hash, omelets, and homefries. But when I tried it for lunch, not too good and the waitress was hitting on my husband. Love the morning waitstaff and food though.

I have such a soft spot for this place. The staff is so sweet and nice that I look forward to paying my bill! I come for breakfast only, they do that the best. The omelette are my favorite. Its a cute place, very diner like feel to it. I haven’t tried anything else mainly because I just love their breakfast. Can’t go wrong with eggs and toast!

At least a dozen flies were flying around that we didn’t notice until the food was delivered. I am never going here again. The only reason that I gave then two stars is for the service. Given the multitude of flies, I can’t say anything good about the food and the unsanitary environment.

I was talking to my mom on the phone today, reminiscing about the long drives my family would take to bring me to and home from college. Bristol, CT was approximately the halfway point, and inevitably the point in the trip when my parents and I were restless and eager to get out of the car. On one of the first trips, we decided to venture off the highway in search of a restaurant where we could go stretch out for a bit and get some coffee and non-fast food cuisine. We stumbled upon Kizl’s Family Restaurant, and we enjoyed such a lovely late lunch. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a self-proclaimed chicken salad aficionado, and theirs was really good. The servers were friendly, it was clean, food was fresh, and coffee was strong. Needless to say, on the next trip, as we passed a sign for Bristol, someone suggested, «Hey, remember that place Kizl’s? Let’s see if we can find it again.» This happened again and again, and even on a couple of non-related trips in which we had to drive out of our way. There was just something about this place! Though we all live hundreds of miles away, there’s a special place in my family’s heart for this cute little restaurant :)

This place is consistently good. The selection is classic diner, they have everything and breakfast is served all day. They are not going to knock your socks off with service, but they aren’t going to upset you either. It’s clean and quick too.

The restaurant was very clean and the staff friendly. I think most of the patrons are elderly and the décor seems to be Midwestern and rather feminine and could use a more modern touch. The food was good and the eggs were prepared properly and portions were more than adequate. All in all, it was an ordinary dining experience but a 4 was given for fast service and cleanliness and the friendly attitude of each server.

Location, location, location! It’s right next to the ESPN campus which is great to dine at when coming in from out of town and want to experience a local coffee shop style restaurant. Service is friendly and polite and food was delicious. We came in for breakfast and believe we could have the same for dinner as well. Big fan and will be back again.

In an effort to establish a Sunday breakfast routine somewhere in the greater Bristol area, Kizl’s was my first stop. Anytime I go to Bristol, I inevitably drive past it, as RT229 is the main way into Bristol for anyone coming from south of Meriden. Parking is easy and accessible, even for a busy Sunday around 12:15pm. I was able to get a table with no wait. The breakfast menu is two pages, but lunch and dinner is also served. The ambiance at this time was loud, and somewhat hectic. Every seat was filled. I ordered the Western Omelet with a side of sausage. The omelet itself is made with three eggs, green peppers, ham, and onions. It is also served with hash browns and toast. The sausages were larger than I expected and flavorful. The omelet was just okay. It could have benefited from some extra seasonings. The hash browns were also overcooked to the point where they were mushy rather than crisp. I’m just thankful for free coffee refills and receiving the check in a prompt manner. Kizl’s is basically like a diner, but with a smaller menu and limited hours.

I want to like this place. Its got the right resume, serves the right stuff, and several of the people are the right people. There’s a woman behind the counter, dark brown short hair, who has always done the right thing by me. When she’s seen me standing for too long, asks, and finishes any order that’s been sitting, waiting to be finished by the one taking the order. And, that’s the problem. There’s another woman in the take out area who constantly takes my order, then leaves me hanging. I’m a contractor. Time is money. I get take out ’cause I don’t have time to sit there. I enjoy some of the stuff they serve, and I like diners. But, she takes my order, and… then forgets me. The woman w/dark short hair always finishes things. My contact at my contracting company took me here for the first couple times we met, sat in the restaurant area. He grew up in Bristol, and he’s fine w/the place. And, as mentioned, its convenient. Hey, its right across the street from work; must be quick, right? Well, 40 minutes into sitting there, the server told us they were out of what I’d ordered. Straw… that… broke… camel’s… back. Most recently, we went to «Smokin’ w/Chris.» Its farther, but… its the right thing. Fast service, great food, great service, and much better ambiance. We’ll trek the extra mile or three. And, I’ll still be back at or about the same time it takes to go to Kizl’s.
