Hidden gem! I was coming up to shop at the Salvation Army a couple doors down, and decided to swing in here instead. I found out that it’s a consignment store that invests its proceeds into local nonprofits aimed at improving the community’s quality of life, as well as supporting the Detroit headquarters of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Alumnae Chapter. Thus, they also have strong Greek ties. They operate completely on donations, for which they have a dropoff in back, and I believe most of the staff are volunteers, as well. They have a very wide variety of items – women’s, men’s, and children’s clothing; shoes; handbags; jewelry; housewares(including a lot of electronics, in original boxes and not), and furniture – all very nicely organized in different departments of their spacious store. They have different specials every day of the week; on the Friday I was there several months ago, they had 50% off housewares, so I got a gorgeous set of four hand-painted China plates for $ 6 and a beer stein from Frankenmuth for $ 1. PROST! I also bought several pieces of jewelry(I love so much I wear almost daily!) at a great bargain. They have a wide selection of it up by the registers. Some of the shoes and many of the handbags were a little pricey, and they didn’t have a huge women’s clothing selection overall or in my size(and what I might’ve been interested in buying was a bit out of my price range). However, I feel that the store offers some really great bargains across the board, all things considered. The ladies who were working at the store were also very warm, friendly, and helpful, and I felt very welcomed. All in all, this is a great place for anyone to visit and spend some time perusing while also supporting the local community.
