So, the food here is very good. The gluten-free options are reasonable, but the main complaint is cost. A lunch here is approximately $ 15, which while expensive is not a big deal. The problem is however the portion sizes. I got a risotto lunch as it was gluten-free, and the rest of my party got pasta dishes, with the exception of one person who got a pizza. All of us were severely disappointed with the quantity of food we got, with the exception of the pizza guy. He got a real meal. We got what I can only assume was a tasting of food. Service was also somewhat lackluster. For a restaurant which charges Boston prices, I’d expect my drink to be refilled, and for no one to be needing to hunt down a server to get more orders put in, drinks, deserts, etc. Short story, food tastes fine but not enough of it to enjoy at the prices they charge.

We had an excellent dinner for my wife’s birthday. We loved the antipasto, which had a dozen different items. I got the Risotto De Mare, and my wife the Tuna, both perfect. We got sides of spinach and asparagus. We’ll be back.

Tomasso Trattoria — Southborough, MA — 4÷26÷2016 You would never tell from the outside what was on the inside… Convenience of online booking… Arrived and promptly seated at my table… This is a nicely decorated restaurant with an open floor plan and open kitchen where you can see the chefs creating their magic. The bread is really awesome and they make it fresh daily. General rule of thumb… If the bread is good…, The food is good… The amuse bouche, a pan seared prosciutto wrapped fontina cheese over baby arugula, arugula pesto and red cabbage spread finish with aged balsamic… Very well plated and quite delectable… For my salad, mescaline greens, creamy goat cheese, roasted baby beets dressed and is sherry vinaigrette also well done… Next course the Gnocchi Al Gorgonzola… Handcrafted sweet potato gnocchi, wild mushrooms, Gorgonzola cream with aged balsamic… The age balsamic seems to be a recurring theme but honestly…, it works and everything they do… For the main this evening… Salmone in Agro-Dolce… Grilled Scottish salmon prepared medium served with sweet and sour braised purple cabbage, pancetta, golden raisins with sautéed spinach… perfectly prepared. And although the dessert selection looked quite delectable… I opted to be good and just finished with my signature cappuccino… Great meal + great service = I’ll be back…

lunch recently, at the bar, pretty place with an open kitchen and even some kitchen viewing seats… seems pretty busy and it got busy and noisy pretty quickly, drinks were good and as ordered, the burger was a wagu burger which always seem(to me at least) to be tender but not real flavorful as this one was, but it was in a great roll/wrap so not too much bread so good, wife had the chicken parm sandwich, good sized and good… nice place, pretty, service pleasant, food pretty good…

We hesitated before coming to Tomasso because of the mixed reviews. However, the desk clerk at our hotel gave a thumbs-up so we decided to give it a try. The atmosphere is quite nice. Quiet and intimate. The kitchen is open to the eating area but the noise level was low. Our servers were… numerous. I think we had a total of 5 people dealing with us along the way(water guy, bread guy, wine girl, server girl, food bringer guy). Maybe they were just slow… For a first course we shared an antipasto platter which was pretty good and had an interesting mix of flavors. For a second course I had gnocchi and my wife had a salad — both were pretty good. For our main course, I had the Veal Saltimboca and my wife had the Salmon. She loved hers and I was disappointed with mine. The salmon was cooked exactly as she requested and was flavorful and the portion size was generous. The veal was dry and uninspiring… And, the menu was expensive! Much more than I felt was justified.

This was one of the worst dining experiences i have had in decades. THEFOODWASVERYGOOD, which is why this review is not a 1. The service however, was some of the worst i have ever had. We were on time for our reservation and seated promptly. Waited about 20 minutes before we were asked if we would like any drinks, even water. Another 20 minutes before the meal order was taken. Restaurant was busy but not full. We ordered, and given that several of us wanted an appetizer and ½ order of pasta, indicated what order we wanted to be served. Another 20 minutes, and one lonely salad appeared. After 15 minutes we had to wave down our waiter to find that he had held all the other plates to come at once. As i said, when they did come they were all very good. Then the icing on the cake. We were overcharged by $ 60, over 25%)!! Why? Because the waiter re-entered the order to get them out quickly and did not check the bill(right…). No comp for the mistake or the poor service. Now we go from poor service to rip-off. If they have take out i would recommend you try that. Update 3⁄19. Kudos to Mike the manager who not only called me regarding this review but sent a gift card to encourage us to return. We went last night for my daughters birthday. Food was again VERYGOOD… and this time the service matched the food.

This was my first visit to Tomassos and probably my last. I found it overpriced and badly staffed. Let me explain… I met a group of friends here for dinner, which was our first mistake as it was very loud and hard to hear each other. The waitstaff was very friendly but we had to wait for at least 15 minutes for our drinks. Sometimes this is understandable if a restaurant is very busy, but at the time there were only a few tables full. I ordered the salad with beets, goat cheese and candied pecans. When it arrived, there was a tiny drop of goat cheese and only 2 – 3 candied pecans. Plenty of beets though. One of my friends ordered the same salad, apparently I got one of her pecans as she had barely one in her salad, also no goat cheese. AHMMM. My main course was the special, broken lasagna which was very tasty. However we had to wait forever to get more water for the table. All in all, not a favorable impression. I waited a few days to post this review because when I went to the washroom there was no soap anywhere. Hopefully this is not where the staff washes their hands after using the washroom. All in all, a disappointing experience. If you do decide to try this restaurant, bring your patience and a few wetnaps.

Absolutely amazing. A great choice for an upscale but not ridiculous expensive meal in the area. My boyfriend and I can eat a very reasonable dinner for $ 50 – 60. It is also gets two thumbs up from me for offering half portions of their pastas — even at dinner time! I highly recommend the sweet potato gnocchi. So yummy.

Meh. Wine by the glass was flat, sent it back. Antipasto was adequate, but heavy on cumin. I don’t mind the spice, but it’s not what you think of when you think Italian Trattoria. Service was clunky — wait staff somehow felt obligated to explain what second was on the menu. And for fixed price menus, why does the whole table need to do it? We were two and sitting next to a party of three… same answer. Weird, right?

Picked one of the busiest nights of the year and we had an amazing experience! I had the scallops and my husband had the veal parm, both were delish! We had some appetizers as well and everything came out very timely considering the large crowd. We’ll be back!

If you want good food but portion control then come here. We had our xmas lunch for the 5 of us and although the food was great, I left still hungry. The bolognese was great put the appetizer size portion at $ 17 left me wanting. Other pasta dishes were similarly sized. One of our group had the burger which looked great! I don’t think that we will be back.

Food is fantastic, one of our favorite restaurants in the area. However, sometimes the service is sub-par. Tonight our waitress, Jess, brought out our glass of wine AFTER we had finished eating(when we had ordered it during our appetizers), and chatted with surrounding tables while we waited throughout the course of our meal. Service was a bit rude and she forgot to put in our to-go order as well. Better luck next time I suppose

Very tasty pizza, great wine list and delicious entrees. This is a surprisingly great option in the burbs that rivals many North End and Boston-based Italian restaurants. It’s worth a trip to Southborough!

Fancy Italian with a large and expensive wine list. Instead, I chose an inexpensive local beer, had a few pieces of the delicious bread and opted for a veal entrée. Something«Veal dia Vesuvio» that was kinda bland with a few veal slices, a slice of tomato and then topped with melted cheese. Served with hand cut french fries. Yes, fries. An interesting combination and I think I’d rather have gone with one of the pasta dishes. Next time, I’ll do that.

My wife and I stopped by at last minute due to long wait at auto service. We planned to eat at Quizono Sub but they closed. Not sure if its closed business for good. We decided to stop by Tomasso which is next to sub. Nice atomesphere and the lunch were perfect. The service were nice and friendly. I had meatball sub along with arugula salad. It was perfect size and the taste were great. My wife had small pizza and it came up with delicious. Definitely will go back for another portion of dinner some day.

This is a really superb option for Italian cuisine that was the selection of one of my client’s who took me out to lunch on a recent trip to Boston. The décor is hip and trendy, and the service was extremely prompt and knowledgeable. Parking was a bit of a challenge as the establishment is contained within a large strip mall with several other businesses, but we did show up at 12:30, so some congestion was expected. More so, after I tried the food. We began with a pitcher of a cocktail called the John Daly(like an Arnold Palmer with alcohol) which consisted of sweet tea, fresh squeezed lemonade, and top shelf vodka. A very refreshing summer cocktail that was well blended. We all had a couple of rounds with our antipasto appetizer of fresh prosciutto, salami, olives and several varieties of cheese. Yum! The chicken parm sandwich I had as an entrée was similarly scrumptious, lightly breaded with a nice contrast of fresh flavors. It was served with a spinach salad with a very zesty vinaigrette dressing that offered a wonderful flavor pairing. Many people who were dining in our group had a few too many cocktails(not hard to do considering how easy they went down) and got into a very heated discussion about football that I am sure the other patrons of the restaurant were not overly pleased with, but at least we were sitting in the bar section as opposed to the main dining room. The 6 of us also managed to exhaust the restaurant’s supply of fresh squeezed lemonade for our cocktail of choice. Pricing was fair considering the quality(our tab was a little over 300 for the 6 of us) and we even got the opportunity to chat with the chef who came out from the kitchen to check on tables. I hope I get the opportunity to return here again on my next visit to Boston.

Came to Tomasso for a Christmas dinner with some colleagues. What I noticed right away is that Tomasso is extremely loud. The combination of music and the acoustics make the small restaurant overwhelming for the ears. However, the food more than makes up for it! We had several courses and tasted a vast deal of the menu. Every single thing was delicious and expertly prepared. The entrees are experienced, but if you can spare the money, the dishes are worth every dime. I especially loved the tagliatelle bolognese, though my steak was buttery tender. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I also sampled the seafood risotto and it was out of this world. The wine list was easy to understand and catered to everyone’s taste. The staff was attentive but not overbearing. We had a lovely time and would go back, if we were going on someone else’s dime again.

Yep they did it again! With Aurelio Settimo wines, and a dinner line-up to kill. Incredible value for the price paid, and a wonderful pairing — Dolcetto, Nebbiolo, and 3 barolo’s graced the table, paired with salad, hand rolled pasta with killer rabbit ragu(OMG), venison, and a playful /savory dessert to highlight the last barolo of the evening! I didn’t mention the foie gras… ONEHUNK of seared fatty deliciousness over polenta, that made your knees weak! Outstanding service, the dinner was served in the Bar area, that made it awkward and less intimate(although they hid us in the corner! and it was GREAT!). Chefs Danielle and Michelle and kitchen crew really outdid themselves, and the rest of the team just kept it going strong! GOODPICKJEREMY!

I landed in Framingham late on a business trip and after eating 2 meals in the hotel restaurant, vowed to never eat there again. The lack of good food is real in Framingham, especially if you’re trying to eat at 9 pm — there are about 2 decent options open, and this is one of them. My co-worker and I split a salad, the bolognese pasta, and each ordered the cod. I was surprised they didn’t bring out any bread to start out with, since I’ve almost always gotten bread at the start of the meal. Better for my waistline to not have a bread basket in front of me, but I was hungry. Arugula«Siciliana» Salad($ 12) — You can’t go wrong with this classic salad. The portion was large enough for 2 or 3 people to share. The citrus and parmesan rounded out the arugula really nicely. Tagliatelle alla Bolognese($ 15 for the smaller portion, $ 25 for the larger portion) — This was just okay for me, and $ 25 for a plate of pasta with bolognese sauce is a bit of highway robbery. The larger portion was fine for 2 people to share, but I didn’t think this was anything out of this world and a tad bit salty. I wouldn’t get it again — I’d opt for another pasta or skip altogether. Filetto di Merluzzo($ 21) — The cod with mustard crust was surprisingly cheaper than the plate of pasta, so good value in this dish and it will fill you up. The mustard crust was a bit overpowering to the fish. It came with a potato cake and sauteed spinach. It was good, but not outstanding, and I would probably pick something else next time or ask them to leave the mustard out of the dish. All in all, a solid place to come if you’re here late. It’s not cheap, it was almost $ 50 per person including tip & tax and I didn’t think we over-ordered, nor did we have drinks. The pricing is a bit weird, with the fish being less than the pasta. I’d come back here again if I were in the area on business and didn’t have very many other alternatives, but I wouldn’t seek this place out again. I think there are better food options out there — I have a lot of Italian food, and this was just okay.

A nice spot for a fun meal and a quick bite of Italian standard fare… Wine list was fair and had some exceptional values. Convenient place and a nice atmosphere at the bar and in the dining areas. The open kitchen area is also appealing and gives a nice open feel. Service was attentive but not overpowering. Dinner was salad and salmon… Nicely prepared and presented. Enjoyed it.
