As a Memphis native, I, unbiasedly, of course, believe that Hueys has the world’s best burger. This was my first time visiting this location. The vibe is similar to other Hueys. Very chill, relaxing environment. I had the Señor Huey Turkey Burger, which was surprisingly more greasy than I expected for a turkey burger. However, their delicious steak fries made up for the burger’s lack. Our server was very attentive without being too overbearing. I enjoyed my visit, but will probably opt out of the turkey burger next time!

Love this Huey’s location. I’m from this area so I’ve been here quite a bit, just not much in the last 5 years. Decided to try it out again when we were back in town visiting, and we were not disappointed. The burgers were great and the staff was professional. I got the sunshine burger and it was delish. They also do 2 for 1 domestic drafts Mon-Fri(not sure what times) so we opted for that deal as well. Huey’s is a great Memphis area restaurant and DeSoto County is lucky to have one!

I know most start a Unilocal review saying«I don’t normally do this», but that is really the truth. I just felt the need to write this one. My wife and I were on our way home in AR from Atlanta. We always stop in Southhaven for dinner to cut the boredom of the trip(make the trip every 6 months). We were in the mood for a good burger, so we googled«best burger in Southhaven». Huey’s was first on the list. There was no hostess, so we seated ourselves. Our ordered drinks were pretty good. Our spinach dip was good, though it looked like it had just been microwaved as it was unevenly warmed. We both ordered a different burger. I asked for no mayo and added smoked cheddar to my cheeseburger. I guess a «runner» brought our meals as it wasn’t our waitress. She sort of plopped down our meal. My wife asked for a knife and she looked a little irritated and said«well you have a fork…». After some hesitation she offered to go get us plastic knives. When she brought the knives, I turned my head to take a drink and she took our unfinished spinach dip. I turned around and it was gone. While there wasn’t a whole lot left, there was at least 4 more bites. I looked at my burger and it was covered in Mayo. I asked our waitress about it and she offered to get me a new bun top. Then I noticed my cheddar cheese was not melted. It looked like they had just pulled it out of the wrapper and placed on an obviously warm/not hot burger. The burger WAS cooked the way I like(med), but it was barely warm. A supervisor of some sort walked by and asked how our meal was. I responded«it’s ok» and he said«good, I’m glad you enjoyed it». Obviously didn’t listen to my answer or he would have asked what was wrong. Very disappointed. Will not return on our next visit.

Eww. Eww. Eww. We were sat in a booth next to the waitress station where they dump the food off of plates. It smelled. It was loud. The menus had old food and slimy-something on them. Tablecloth was COVERED in food stains. We walked out. Too filthy to eat in. Yuck!

What they do… they do well. They make burgers, and sandwiches. They are good. They are very good. My favorite burger was the bluff city burger. Perfect balance of ingredients, and I could not ask for a more perfectly cooked patty. It melted in my mouth, and kept me wanting the next bite. The onion roll was delicious and fresh. The choices are limited and I would stick to the sandwiches. I did not care for the onion rings, and I do not know why they served them with ketchup. The fried pickles were good, and hot, but served way to oily and stuck together. Our glasses were dirty and old, and the table was a mess. I put my arm down in mayo as I sat down. The staff was attentive to our needs, but lacked personality. I would stop in for a burger from time to time here. JUST A BURGER.

Huey’s has been one of my favorites since I was a child but I never realized how unfamily friendly it is until it was just my 2 year old son and me today. He had a cheeseburger kids meal and I asked for sweet potato fries the waitress never mentioned a $ 1.05 up charge. When I got the bill I was shocked to know that I pd right at $ 8 for a 2year old meal at a hamburger joint where my own twice the size meal wAs only $ 10. The manager offered to take the drink off which I refused and said that’s not the point. He took it off anyway which is what got them 2 stars instead of one. It will be a long time before we go back.

The second time around was way better. The burger was better. My girl and I both got the Old Tyme A1 Burger with those great fried mushrooms. Also got Fries. Service was great too. Everything was great besides a toothpick that went flying by our table.

Had excellent service here for lunch with my fiancée’. Great food. Nice atmosphere. Great location. Next to everything I need and was a great place to stop for a nice lunch. I have also been here for the nightlife, and I must say it was a great place to be then as well. A+

I got the World Famous Huey burger with fries. This is a local chain restaurant. They have a tradition of taking the toothpicks from the sandwiches and using drinking straws, as a blow dart launch the straws into the ceiling tiles.(Interesting tradition).

I think I’ve been to every Huey’s in the city and had a chance to come to this location in Southaven. They have successfully held up the Huey’s tradition of great service and good food. I had the catfish basket with fries. The food came fast and tasted very good– not too much salt or seasoning. I would highly recommend this place especially for lunch. Enjoy.

What you would expect from the Huey’s franchise. Good food and good bar. It’s almost one of those places that really isn’t just a bar and really isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a hybrid of both. Good for lunch or to hang out after a softball game

Awful… came here today pre movie on a time crunch. Ordered my food and burger plain with no mayo/mustard. I had 40 mins so figured plenty of time. Got my fried mushrooms and noshed on a few of those while I waited 30 mins for burger to arrive. When it got there I figured I has 5 mins to eat before the movie started. Took one bite and realized the thing had mustard on it. Not having time to wait for another one, I told the waitress the burger was not edible and I needed my check. She got the check out, asked if I wanted to take the burger to go(why would I want to take the thing to go if I was not going to eat it) and when I told her no she just put the check down. Never asked if she could take it off the bill… nothing. So I essentially paid $ 20 for a half dozen fried mushrooms, a diet coke and a spit out bite of a burger. Never been so shocked at poor service in my life!

I wanted to write an update because based on my review, a representative of Huey’s Corporate contacted me regarding the service we received during our visit. I appreciate it when companies take the time to read my reviews and address my experiences. I take pride in trying to be objective as possible when writing my review — i.e. trying to accurately convey the positives and the negatives of our experience. I also sincerely appreciate it when companies ‘own’ their mistakes. It shows that they do care about their customers, and take their praise… as well as their criticisms, very seriously. From a consumer’s perspective, the damage has already been done by the poor service given to us by our server. Conversely though, this was a great recovery. I understand that sometimes servers are just bad — that sometimes weeding out the ‘weeds’ of your company is as difficult to do as finding good servers who properly represent your brand. That is why unlike many Unilocalers, I did not blast them with one star for bad service when the food was good. Had we had a good service experience, I could have confidently given Huey’s one extra star. That would be a 4. Unfortunately though, there are a lot of places we want to dine at and try here in the near future. So if Huey’s gets another chance, it won’t be anytime in the near future; but I do believe in second chances… especially when it is a service issue and NOT a food issue. Update 2: 5⁄15 @ 4:27PM; Chk 1801; Server: Tina M This is the quickest I have ever given a restaurant a second chance; but I heard that Huey’s had a pretty decent cheesesteak, and I was in the mood. I stopped in around 4:00, and as I was walking to the door when a Huey’s employee(seemingly one that may have just punched-out) came out the door. I was still far enough away from the door, that when he went back to hold the door for me I was very pleasantly surprised. That’s a good start. Got inside and it was DEAD — I mean 0 customers with the exception of myself. I sat in the fifth booth on the left as you walk-in. I ordered the ‘Philly Cheesesteak’ and a side order of onion rings. The onion rings were damn good. Seasoned exceptionally well with a crispy, crunchy, and delicious breading on the outside. They seemed to be red onions on the interior, which typically I do not like; but these were very good. Plus, they were not greasy at all. **Sigh**…the ‘Philly’ Cheesesteak. First of all, that was not a ‘Philly’ cheesesteak. This is a pet peeve of mine; but I won’t pettily dock them any points for it. First, an authentic ‘Philly’ cheesesteak is served on an Amoroso roll — not just some random hoagie roll from your distributor. This my friends was not an Amoroso roll. Second, an authentic Philly is served with A.) Provolone B.) American(typically white); or C.) Cheez Whiz. Huey’s serves it with Cheddar. Third, and authentic Philly is most traditionally served with thinly-sliced beef in what is referred to as ‘frizzled’ beef. Most often, and from all of the places I have frequented in the Philly area, it is typically ribeye. Huey’s definitely does not use ribeye. I am not certain on this, but they use something with roughly the same texture as a flank steak… maybe top round? Either way, I also think they marinate the steak in something after it is tenderized and pounded out. I may be wrong though. Either way though, that is a Cheesesteak… not a ‘Philly Cheesesteak’. Regardless of the above, I wasn’t fond of the cheesesteak as a whole. The marinade, or seasoning on the beef just didn’t do it for me. Regardless though, this experience was much better than the previous one… even if the food was better the first time we went. I will stop by Huey’s one more time in the near future and give my final verdict. I don’t think it is fair for me to ascribe a ‘star rating’ to the cheesesteak since I simply did not like it. It was prepared as described(with the exception of the ‘Philly’ part), and it just wasn’t my cup of tea.

We love this place! All of the food is good, but try the steak on a stick! The chicken Philly cheesesteak sandwich is my second favorite thing on the menu. The mahi and tina steaks are actually pretty good too. Of the burgers, I usually go with the blues 57 burger. Love the nachos and cheese fries. My hubby loves the cheese sticks. The brownie Sunday is delicious! The service is always great! The drinks are good and they have a decent selection of beer. The prices are reasonable. The only negative is that they allow cigarettes but they don’t allow cigars.
