This is a little place in Southaven that sells very good cheap Chinese food. I don’t recommend getting sushi here but everything else was pretty fantastic. I actually came here after sampling a coworker’s takeout from here. I was definitely not disappointed. Their egg drop soup doesn’t even have that nasty after-taste that I usually get a cheap Chinese places. The dumplings here are great and I love the sauce that comes with them. The sushi is ok but not the best. I will definitely return here and try some new things but I will stick with their main menu. That will be fine as they have a huge extensive menu. Note: I accidentally reviewed this place once before when I meant to review a different place. Hence the owner’s comment at the end of my review. Love: — Egg Drop Soup — Fried Dumplings — General Tso’s Chicken — Pork Fried Rice — Rock N Roll(sushi– best with ginger and soy sauce) Ok: — Crunchy Crab Roll — Fried Rice — Spring Roll Dislike: — Crispy Jalapeño Roll — Hibachi Fried Rice

They say delivery but they only deliver within 5 miles from the restaurant. I live 5.05 miles away but they still wouldn’t come to my house. Ridiculous

Quality, quantity, and price are all decent. The store is very small, and is primarily a carry out establishment, but it does have two tables and a bench if you choose to eat inside. The staff was courteous, and fast. I was surprised by the amount of food I received for such a low price, and even more surprised by how good it was. This was some of the best house special fried rice I have had in Southaven. It was well balanced, and tender. The flavors came together without an overpowering onion taste or oily residue. The egg drop soup(I judge all Chinese restaurants by this) was decent. It had a bit too much of a chicken broth taste. It needed a touch of acidity, and maybe some pepper. The texture was great and not to thin or thick. I was pleasantly surprised by the sushi. They made it right in front of us, and the California roll we tried was fresh, and well rolled. Major deal since it was the sushi special of the day at only 2.99. I will definitely be back for the fried rice the next time I have a need for Chinese food.

I go here so often, it’s crazy! They remember me every time I go. The food is really good here and the price is great for the quality. The workers are really nice and I just love this place!

The chicken-on-a-stick and pork lo mein were excellent. The cheese wontons were ok. The beef in the hunan combination was too flabby, but the shrimp and veggies were good; next time we will try just hunan shrimp. The sesame chicken was too mushy and ketchup-y. Shanghai House’s is much better! The spring rolls were mushy inside. I believe they were supermarket frozen variety.

I am in Southaven on business for the next several weeks, and my company is paying for all of my meals, so you will be seeing a lot of reviews from me relating to restaurants in the area. I am surprised that no one has reviewed this restaurant yet, because it is a solid place to get some Chinese Take-out. Food: As always, I had the General Tso with fried rice, pork eggroll, and won ton soup. The General was good. The breading was crispy, the chicken had been well-butchered(no grisly pieces, or excessively fatty ones), and the sauce was good. The sauce was a little too heavy on the Hoisin for my liking(this is a Asian-style BBQ sauce of sorts), but the sauce was still really well balanced between salty, sweet, and spicy. The egg roll was very good. I have found that Chinese restaurants can either cook eggrolls, or can’t — there is no in-between. Asian House delivers with a crispy exterior, and a variety of delicious flavors on the interior. The Fried Rice was very good. It was balanced extremely well, had a nice amount of pork in it, just a few white onions, and was very tender. As for the Won Ton Soup. I wish I had just opted for a drink instead of it. It literally tasted like dirty dishwater. Ironically, the won tons were really good, but the broth was just flavorless, and nasty. Food: General Tso 3⁄5; Fried Rice 4⁄5; Eggroll 4⁄5; Won Ton Soup 2⁄5 = 3⁄5(I round down) Service: The service was your typical, run-of-the-mill take-out experience. The cooks and register-person were rather frantically running around during the lunch rush, and were neither pleasant nor rude. This is alright, but I like a little bit of appreciation from a business that I chose them instead of the other 4 million restaurant options I have the option to go to. I did not feel like a valued customer or as a guest, I felt like a check to them. Like I said, this is probably fine for a take-out experience; but I like more effort. If you build a connection with me, I am more likely to come back and not try the competition 3 blocks away. Service: 3⁄5 Atmosphere: The interior is very small with two tables and a small 8 foot bar(of sorts) with bar stools. Asian House is less of a ‘house’ and more of a ‘shack’. Since it is primarily take-out, atmosphere isn’t quite as important; but it is still important to note. The place did look clean, and the workers were prompt in cleaning the two tables when they were dirty. Atmosphere: 3⁄5 Price: This is a category they are going to score very well in. 5 dollars for a lunch menu combo meal. Includes pork fried rice, won ton soup or drink, and the menu item(i.e. General Tso, Sweet & Sour, etc). $ 5.00 is a steal for good quality Chinese food. After my egg roll, tip(yes, I tip), and tax my total equaled $ 7 even. That is an inexpensive lunch for the quality and quantity you get. I am kind of glad the soup was bad, I don’t think I could have finished it anyway. Price: 5⁄5 Final Thoughts: This was the first Chinese restaurant I have been to in the area, so it is hard to compare it to anything locally. Despite that, I am from NY where amazing Chinese food is abundant, and Asian House stacked-up pretty well. If they were in NY, I would never be back again; but here in Southaven, it might be some of the best the area has to offer. I will update if I find better.
