Freshworks is a very small chain in my area that focuses on sandwiches, fries, salads and appetizers made to order. They bake their rolls on premises during the day and they do make a great sandwich roll. This store is the closest to my home and I invariably encounter it while running some sort of errand, so when hunger strikes… The choices of hoagies, hot sandwiches or cheesesteaks are mind blowing and they have three different sizes ranging from the mini at 5 inches to the whole at 2 feet. There must be twenty varieties of each, vegetarian, some with tuna or chicken salad, combinations galore of meats and cheeses, fried fish hoagies or even a crab cake hoagie. They have freshly ground black angus burgers, hot subs, such as a meatball, roast pork, chicken sandwiches, either fried or grilled, wraps, or a stacked sandwich on an in house made fresh kaiser roll. I hear their wings are really good, I’m not into wings, their fries are good and of course there are a zillion and one ways to have them, well not quite, fish or crab cake platters, chicken tenders, fried broccoli or mushrooms, and their salads are huge and loaded with so much more than lettuce. Unless you are starving and all you plan on having is a salad, then yes, maybe you can keep it for yourself, but chances are you will still have trouble finishing it all in one sitting. My favorite salad is the tuna antipasto which is loaded with tuna, meats and cheeses and a great selection of veggies. For sandwiches my favs would have to be the ham, swiss and hard salami hoagie and because I love cheese and I am bad I always add provolone too. I also like the cheesesteak, especially the hoagie with raw onions and sauteed mushrooms, I’m not a wiz girl, so it’s provolone for me.
