Love this place. Food is always great, and it’s the perfect restaurant to bring young children to. This is always are Friday night first choice!

Fantastic food! Inexpensive! Friendly people! I have eaten in house many time and the quality of food and service is consistent. I wish they were closer to my house.

We went there because of a discount card that we had bought from a fund drive for SW football team. When we presented it the waitress said they don’t honor it. I asked the owner why and he said that it was supposed to have been for take out only even though it makes no mention of it on the card(other restaurants on the card did). I asked why he didn’t post it on the entryway so that I would have known before I ordered. He said it was there fault and didn’t care. I won’t be returning there

This place is your typical casual Italian restaurant. While I haven’t sat down to eat, I’ve gotten take out pizza. The sauce and toppings are always delicious. While the crust isn’t bad, it could definitely use more flavor and have a crispier outside. In this case, it’s simply a transportation device for the other ingredients. Will certainly be ordering from them again, and I’m curious to try some of their meals when I get the chance.

I wish I could give no stars! But because the pizza is decent I don’t mind giving 1 star. I wanted to call and place an order for pick up but after calling 3 times from my boyfriends phone I tried mine. And called 14 times! And still no answer. I am so unbelievably mad. Unbelievable I can’t even imagine why they wouldn’t answer. I mean it’s not like they are busy. I’ve only ever seen maybe 2 tables in there at a time.

We live in town and have tried this place several times. In house and take out. I truly have no idea how they are still in business. Pizza we have ordered over the phone is never right. Waitstaff is pleasant but inefficient. This past Thursday was our last straw. After a very hectic week my husband and I just wamted to relax and have a pleasant meal. Our waitress was nice and got us our drinks and took our order. My husband ordered the chicken parm and i ordered the rosemary swordfish(medium rare). Salad and warm rolls came out, salad was fresh and tasty. Rolls a bit on the«I’ve been in the warmer too long » our meals came out and thats where it all fell apart. My husbands chicken parm looked quite good, my swordfish(if that truly is what it was) was covered in capers and clearly not what I ordered, it was 2 of the thinnest FILETS??? It came with semi cooked frozen mixed veggies and a ½ cooked baked potato. She took it back to have my order re done. As we sat there, my husband eating his dinner before it got cold, i choked down some of my potato and frozen mixed veggies. After about 15 minutes i got up and told the waitress to package mine to go since by this time my husband was done eating(so much for a quiet dinner TOGETHER!) After a few more minutes she brought out a bag, and when i looked, i was amazed to see 2 even smaller and thinner pieces of supposedly swordfish. Nothing else. I sent it back and told her to take it off our bill. I’ve never seen swordfish prepared in such a way, and when i requested it medium rare, that may have been a good time for the waitress to clue me in that the soles of my shoes were thicker than the fish i was ordering. After posting on FB, the responses i got from neighbors and friends all seemed to mirror our experience. NEVERAGAIN

The food is always delicious and you don’t have to wait too long for it. Our waitress came over immediately and brought us water, the she suggested a few items. We ended up getting garlic bread, chicken Parmesan grinder, and an eggplant Parmesan dinner. All of the items were delicious. By the time dessert rolled around, we were too full. The food was overall delicious and I will definitely be coming back.

Good food but waitresses are not friendly at all. Good portions reasonably priced if you come for lunch and clean atmosphere.

Our office has ordered Red Onion about five times in the last year, and every single time it’s an awful experience. Now, I can forgive a restaurant that makes mistakes, and can even forgive fairly frequent mistakes(because I keep going back, fool me once and all that), but I what I cannot take is terrible customer service. I’m not exaggerating when I say that all five times we have ordered, they have gotten it wrong. According to the manager, the«custom orders» confuse them(I order a buffalo chicken wrap with only cheese, tomatoes and ranch instead of blue cheese… I can see where that would get confusing), which is what it is. I tried to explain to him that I’m really upset because this happens every time and he cut me off to say, «No it doesn’t.» I was pretty taken aback, so I told him he is more than welcome to call my coworker and ask her if it’s true or not, to which he responds, «No, that’s ok.» Then he proceeds to tell me that he spoke with the cook, who reassured him he made the order correctly… I told him that I brought in the incorrect order, it was sitting on the counter right in front of him if he would like to check, and again he said, «No, that’s ok.» I have never felt so disrespected in all my life. Truly, the food is not good enough to be that rude to people(the other reviews I’m seeing seem to back that up). So if you don’t feel like rude service with mediocre food, I would skip this one. Your sanity will thank you.

I’ve lived near this place for 12 years, and I’ve been going here since. The food always seems to be good. If I had one complaint, it would be that the salad that comes with dinner usually only has one small chunk of tomato. Portions are generous, and the staff is friendly.

Solid, but nothing special. I tried one of the pasta dishes(bolognese), but it didn’t have a lot of flavor. A bit bland and needed more pop. The pizza was decent… Greek Style which I enjoy time to time. I would go back, but only to order a pizza.

We really enjoy coming back to The Red Onion for many reasons… We know that we will consistently receive quality food for a decent price. This is not a run-down pizza joint — There pizza is some of the best I’ve tried this side of the Connecticut River!!! Ask my 4 year old daughter! I had a cup of their chicken soup, was delishhh… along with their large Antipasto and absolutely enjoyed both for our dinner time meal. My sister in-law had their Gyros, and exclaimed that they are the best ones she’s had up in Connecticut(being from NY). Waitress was friendly and somewhat knowledgeable but the service was excellent. Tip: Afterwards, you can walk over to the NEWDQ Icecream next door. That place was rocking!

This place is weak. Very over priced for a run down pizza joint. Sauce tastes horrible, like too much green pepper. Small portions. Fried mozzarella frozen. Service so-so.

Great pizza! I honestly don’t know what style of pizza this is… it’s a slightly doughier thicker crust so my guess is Greek style… so ff you’re looking for a spot with this type/style that doesn’t skimp out on the cheese and toppings, this is the place… We’ve ordered take-out pizza here several times and have been loving it over the last couple years. Our fav is the Red Onion Special… good amount of sausage, hamburg, pepperoni, peppers, onions, mushrooms… The few times we’ve tried some of their entrees, it just wasn’t what we were hoping for… pretty bland. So for us this has pretty much become a straight up take-out pizza joint(a very good one!) Having said that, they do have a pretty good size dine-in area. Anytime I go to pick-up on the weekends, I can usually see that it has a good amount of customers.

The Red Onion is your classic, run of the mill Italian place. Located in miniature strip mall, it is often(quite easily) overlooked as a choice for consumption of mass quantities. Coneheads reference aside, I really wasn’t kidding about the mass quantities. Even though The Red Onion classifies itself as a pizza place, the rest of their menu is what I usually partake in. And by rest of, I mean just a few things that do not resemble pizza but do come in unreasonably large portions. Before I get to that, I’ll circle back to the pizza. I’m not saying its bad, it isn’t. I don’t really know what style to call it — it’s not thin and crispy, so New York is out. Its not deep and grossly overfilling, so adiós Chicago. We’ll just call it… general pizza. It is cut into squares, so not everyone gets crust. This saddens me. It does however, remind me of my childhood and the pizza we used to get near my Grandmother’s house before I could even comprehend what good pizza was like. So, plus one for that, I suppose. Squares, heavy bread, crunchy crust, heavier(comparatively) on the cheese… that pretty much sums it up. Now that I’ve spent so much time talking about something I rarely get, let’s move into one of the best salads ever. Their grilled shrimp salad is a mammoth creation filled with fresh greens and veggies, topped with +/-8 nicely sized gilled shrimp. That, Italian dressing on the side, and the bread(literally a loaf) it comes with come to $ 13. Fantastic dinner. The Red Onion also has a variety of subs to choose from. I recommend the small — mostly because it measures in right around more or less 8 inches. If you are feeling risky or are super stupidly hungry like my brother, grab yourself a large. This 15″ torpedo(that he polished off in 12 minutes) is actually cut into 4 pieces — out of logistical necessity. They come pretty well stuffed too, so bring an appetite. I stick with the turkey most days, but the steak & cheese and meatball are both good choices too.
