Oyster Point Ferry Terminal

This is one of my favorite spots in the bay. If you’re going out for a brisk walk, a nice bike ride, or simply wanting to just be outdooors. This area lands somewhat between the middle of the bay trail. This building has a ferry that connects to Alameda and oakland, which is quite convenient for those living on the peninsula and don’t want to drive to the east bay and dealing with sf city traffic.
The winds do pick up so bringing a jacket is not such a bad idea. Since its near the outskirts winds do pick up and it get cold pretty quickly.
The boats are also nice to check out. By the building is a. steam boat? Haha its called the spirit of Sacramento. Sooooo SACRAMENTO! WE HAVE YOUR SPIRIT and it’s been chillin at this dock forever!
Overall nice place to come and stop by. Make a day out of it and rejuvenate.

This is cool an opinion in Ssf to take the ferry to sf for the giants games :) there’s a bar, outlets and free wifi. Also a bathroom and if you want to stay on top on the roof deck there’s a heated area. They also take the clipper card and have an insulated area. I also think the ferry parking in Ssf is free

So the sad fact is unless you happen to be having your transportation paid for by your company (lucky sons of…) this is actually a more expensive option for commuters from the far east bay and tri valley. While everything is crisp and new and clean and there is a conviniant shuttle to the surronding business and to south san francisco bart you are still paying $ 14 a day to take this trip. I am unsure if there are any incentives for clipper card users. To take Bart from fruitvale (same relative area) to south san francisco you are only paying $ 8.60 round trip. So in all fairness it doesn’t even save you time as the trip takes around the same: /​major bummers as I expected this to actually save me some time out of my life draining soul sucking cummoute :(

This is a great service!!! If you work in Oyster point and live in Oakland I would definitely take this ferry. I took it to Oakland in the morning, and there was only 4 people on it. Coming the other way has more people (because commute direction.) The staff is very nice and its very easy commuting. It only took 30 – 40 minutes to get to Oakland from SSF, compared to the bridge and traffic and stuff this is the way to go. I found it kinda expensive, it’s 7 bucks each way :(but compared to bridge tolls and ware+tare on the car it’s not too bad. For the times you can check the Blue&Gold fleet website.

Yesterday, the Bay Area got a beautiful new enclosed modern ferry terminal in South SF. There was a big inaugural celebration with public officials, speakers, and a high school band.
Ferry boats will provide service on weekdays between Alameda, Jack London Square in Oakland, and this new SSF terminal (in that order). The project included 2 brand new state of the art catamaran style ferry boats (named Gemini and Pisces) that cost a total of $ 16 million to build, have space for 34 bikes (there’s a water hose to wash your bike), comfy chairs, the covered area has a heater, a quiet VIP room in the top deck level, FREE WiFi, and a snacks bar (coffee during AM, wine and beer during PM). How cool is that! Yeah, similar to the SF ferries, but these new diesel boats produce 10 times less pollution. Only one SSF boat will run the 40 minutes route, the 2^nd one is a backup. 3 East Bay boats (named Taurus, and 2 others) will also complete the route, coming from Alameda/​Oakland.
2 Free shuttle bus lines (funded by local employers and San Mateo transit) service the nearby SSF neighborhood area to/​from the terminal, during limited hours. See website for more details.
There’s 12 bike lockers for storage outside the terminal, and Free validated parking (don’t lose that garage ticket).
Pay w/​clipper card or cash. One way ferry fare is $ 7 per adult, $ 3.50 for seniors and youth. But this week (M-​F, June 4 – 8) u can try it for FREE!!! See link to reserve a spot (not mandatory):
The SSF boat departs at 7:20am, and returns at 5:40pm.
This project is part of a 2007 state mandate to have alternative means of transportation, reduce pollution, and also serve as a way for evacuation in case of emergencies like natural disasters. Future proposals (not approved yet) include adding this type of ferry service to the Berkeley/​Albany area.
