Nice, mellow karaōke bar to hang out with your friends if you are sick of clubbin or sports bar. I heard it’s under new management now… haven’t been there for a while. Maybe I should hit it up again later.

Hahahaha, I don’t really go out that much. This was a cool spot. Growing up in the«Asian» scene, this place had a familiar feel to the bars I went to and even worked at in previous years.(previous being 8 years ago) The staff were friendly, and very welcoming. The grey goose vodka shoots were ICE cold. just the way I like. The staff were friendly, asian women, and one of em had a pretty purple dress! A little over done with the dress, but the girls gotta make their money somehow! Work it!

i’ve always assumed that new wave lounge was a dive bar located in a strip mall where suburban husbands and fathers go to escape their families. boy, was i wrong. there is nothing dive-y at all about new wave lounge but it IS a place where husbands and fathers can go to escape their families. a group of us walked in one night after a celebratory dinner at another strip mall the next town over. we were greeted by a number of asian waitresses and bartenders who informed us that there was either bottled beer OR bottle service available. somewhat confused(and highly amused) that we were getting bottle service at a bar in a dingy strip mall in south city, we decided to roll with the punches and ordered mixers for our grey goose. after failed attempts to request a karaōke standard(ie journey’s «don’t stop believin»), we were given permission to scroll through their song selection. they warned us they didn’t have much«newer» music after asking for something bon jovi but they DID have a lot of britney. hm… eventually a man rolled a keyboard up to the stage and thus began the evening’s real«live entertainment.» most disturbing was what ensued. the waitresses had each grabbed one of the men at the bar and began dancing and flirting with him. i felt like i was watching a scene from a vietnam war movie… we promptly left. opium den? secret suburban brothel? sketchy… all kinds of sketchy…

dude hella funny but i’ve actually been here. i’ve always passed by and said fuck it lets see, and it was fun. it was like some TRIAD hot spot with asian prostitutes, hella karaōke, and nice drinks. there was this one guys singing karaōke like his fucking life depended on it and he was sooooo horrible. hella funny and such a great experience. there was this fat guy that looked like the fat chinese guy from«collateral» that tom cruise had to kill in the club. you know the one he shot in the forehead, and then twice in the chest. i like this spot, it makes for a great story fo sho.

Don’t be an idiot haole like me and walk into here thinking that based on the name, it’s an 80s bar. Oy. It’s a karaōke bar… something not even invented during the greatest decade. We live right around the corner and kept saying, ‘oh yeah, let’s stop in some time and have a beer’. We walked in ready to pony up to the bar and based on the complete absence of people(@ 9:00 pm on a Thursday), this a) wasn’t a bar; b) Pat Benetar was not going to make a cameo; and c) we’re the only haoles left in south city. No worries, the hostess was really nice and made a genuine attempt to stifle her laughter. Just wish they’d change or modify the sign to reflect what’s really going on there…

Ok, so this is the last bar on El Camino before it turns into Mission Road. Whoa… After a google maps approved 43.1 miles from SSF(New Wave Lounge) to San Jose(Brittania Arms) the Tour de El Camino comes to a close. And what better way to close it out than with some karaōke? A little bit unexpected but walked through the door to the surprise of a female security guard? I think we might have woke her up from her nap. It’s actually kinda nice inside with their comfortable plush couches and plasmas with Chinese subtitled karaōke videos. While some of the people doing karaōke could really sing, it was mostly all Chinese songs and I can see this as more of a bar that helps bridge foreign born Chinese living in the peninsula into American life. Otherwise, me and my boy Joel W. woulda sang«Ebony and Ivory» that woulda made Stevie Wonder jealous.

Came here last weekend with some friends. Right when I stepped in you could already hear someone singing on the mic lol and she wasn’t a good singer 0.0 ahhaa TBtw… ahah this place has karaōke !! yay !! Unfortunately, it’s not a closed area where only your group of friends can hear you sing IT’S THEWHOLEFREAKIN’ LOUNGE ahahaha 0.0 SoOo I’d best hope if you’re up next on the mic you’re a good singer and if not better be butt drunk to use the excuse of bad singing ahahah =x The service here was extremely fast and very friend that’s always a plus ^. We got our drinks in no time and free munches(dried japanese seaweed and those chinese shrimp chips) I’d ordered their Forbidden Fruit, which was very sweet ^ ^ [photo posted] Had to drive back home, so didn’t want anything too heavy on the alkie. Two of my friends ordered AMF here and ahaha i’d heared it was very strong here so for all those hardcore drinkers out there give it a shot ! But either the less a very warm and cozy spot to hang out with some friends and have a great time.

Came here a few months ago and had lots of fun. The place is super duper small but very clean esp. their bathrooms. I really like the atmosphere of this place. I like how there’s a little mini stage area for you to karaōke your lungs out. Idk, the whole place just seems warm and cozy to me. Seems like a nice place to go on a cold winter night to get buzzed and drunk. Their mixed drinks are pretty good too. I really liked their Sunset Colada. I’m definitely visiting again somewhere in the near future :)

New Wave Lounge is a great hangout spot for Chinese people. They are targeting the Chinese crowd based on the music and the staff. The New Wave Lounge even has a karaōke stage! You could get your sing on, although you would need to know a Chinese song. I would definitely go back here because it’s one of the closer Asian bars to my place and I’m Asian. P. S. Margaret T. stood me up! Don’t plan to go out with her unless she sends you nudie pictures of herself. Thanks Margaret… For recommending this place.

Surprising little place smack dab in the middle of SSF… didn’t think I’d run into a spot like this in this area. Fine décor, primarily asian bar/karaōke place. Bonus points for the faux bovine print banquette. They’ve only been open for about 4 weeks, so we’ll see if the place takes off. Staff are super-friendly…and while I’m not so sure that they know how to mix drinks, they at least do a fine job of opening bottle tops, preppin veggies, and shootin the shit with you. Great spot for a little Sunday night drankin. Shout out to Margaret T. for the heads up.
