Galli’s Sanitary Bakery

The bread is good but omg the service the lady with the black hair always has a bitchy look in her face and is super rude rude the latin girl is nice and very pleasant but the other lady is horrible !!

I went with Todd and Galli’s Bakery for my wedding cake. I knew I wanted to go with them from the beginning because of their great reputation and quality. I wanted a softer, more natural looking cake and still very timeless and beautiful. We also wanted to support our local South City bakery :) Todd was amazing to work with from the start. He is super professional and is so proud of his work, that you could tell he really works from his heart and loves what does. A huge plus was that his prices are great compared to some other bakeries in the area.
On the day of our wedding, the company responsible for our backdrop, didn’t secure it correctly and it fell on our cake :(Luckily, this was before the reception had started and Todd had literally just left. Lucky for me, he came back and fixed my cake, to a point where I didn’t even notice anything had happened to it! I don’t know if any other baker would have done that. I absolutely loved the romantic, elegant look of my cake and everyone told me how delicious it was! I ordered 2 flavors-​chocolate raspberry and white with pink champagne– both were hits! I wish I had some right now :)
I highly recommend going with Galli’s for your wedding cake! He’s the best!

Italian cookies and mango tea cake are delicious! Wish they had a full-​service coffee bar and seating… I like the fact that it is local.

I come to Galli’s on Grand to see what their selection is like on occasion and it is consistently great. They have visually appealing cakes, cookies, and biscotti (which I like) plus the ones I tried taste really good. I must say, the store’s name is a little weird but I guess it is because they have been around for such a long time that sanitary was fashionable which means they been perfected their craft over the years. Anyways, I have been coming in lately to buy their 49ers helmet cookies and they are just as beautifully decorated as you would find in high end bakeries downtown and yummy.

This place has the most amazing tres leches cake I’ve ever had. The staff were amazing and it was very easy to order and pick up. First time buying a cake ever… I will definitely come back here for years to come.

Came here for a baby shower cake and they did a awesome job! Decoration was very cute and the cake itself was good as usual.

As much as I’d love to give a higher rating, I just can’t. My first time here and the lady with clown lipstick looked annoyed and unpleasant. It’s a small bakery and it wasn’t busy when I walked in yet the lady couldn’t manage a smile let alone a hello. My son and I paid for our items and upon exiting my son said «she isn’t very nice» the items we did were delicious. The service however … Well we won’t be back

Great biscotti and German chocolate cake! Great gem for us here in south city!
Oh and the staff very personable, friendly and feel genuinely happy to be working there! Good to get that type of service!

Came here for the first time about a month ago and bought their blueberry tea cake. SUPER GOOD and everyone enjoyed it in the office. Came here yesterday with my co worker to check it out. Cookies were not too amusing, but I bought a couple to try.
My review is strictly on the fact that they put free samples on the counter, but yet there is a fat ass fly flying all around that place, landing himself on top of those free samples. When we said something about that fly, the lady just says Oh no, theres a fly, but proceeded to do nothing about it.
Ewww.

I’ve heard a lot about this place by word of mouth, so when I was in the area I decided to try it out. Upon walking in, I was taken aback because there was a lot of treats to choose from. I asked the cashier what their best sellers were and she was super helpful. After personally deciding whether I wanted cake or something small like a cookie, I settled for some «Mexican Wedding» cookies. They tasted like butter cookies with walnuts and a lot of powdered sugar goodness. Upon paying, someone had come from the back with a freshly baked batch of cookies (they were thumbprint cookies with chocolate in the middle). My eyes lit up and the cashier was nice enough to let me try one for free! The service definitely deserves majority of the 4-​star rating!
I definitely want to come back here and try their cakes. They looked really good. Maybe when I’m not so full and actually saved room for dessert.

Today was my second time here. Last time we got a Blueberry Pound Cake. It was moist, light, and tasty.
This time we got a couple tea cakes and a couple coffee cakes for a party tomorrow. So I’ll update this review after tomorrow’s party.
I also got a custard apple Danish today for snacking. It tastes great, not dry, and sweet.

I’m sorry, but this by far was the best cake I ever had. I don’t know what it was bc I got it as a gift, but I think it was a white cake (maybe tres leche) with raspberry or strawberry jam. I wouldn’t mind dying, resurrecting, just to eat this cake again… maybe even twice.

My family has been getting our cakes from here since I was younger, every Birthday we would get pink champagne, there’s truly nothing like it, which is one of our favorites along with the mocha cakes! These are the best…

Only problem with this place, is people in the area know the Canollis go quick so they’re usually gone fast.

Tiramisu hunt. If you know anything about my craves for sweets and love for tiramisu.
The slice of cake here filled up the entire box they gave us to package it Togo. Now it could be any sized box and made to look like its big enough to fill it. I was so tempted to eat the tiramisu, I ate it and forgot to take a picture.
Th cake was a little too sweet for my taste. Probably the sweetest tiramisu I’ve ever had to be honest. Killed a whole glass of water eating half the cake … Other than sweetness the cake was made perfectly. Creamy, soft, fluffy … You name it. All the stuff a tiramisu should be. I might’ve enjoyed it a bit more had I eaten it with some coffee. But all good, if I’m ever around this part of town I’d def revisit for the tiramisu and maybe some other goodies!

How can you not be intrigued with a ‘sanitary bakery’? This bakery is definitely old school with old time favorites such as champagne cakes, coffee crunch, along with danishes and ‘pan pizza’.
This review is for their fruit bars only! chewy, sweet, salty, crispy… all in one! Sadly, this is the only item (so far) that has been a hit for me, friends and family along with their custard danish. I’ve tried other items (bread pudding, beehive cake, cake pop) but have been sadly disappointed.
If anything, TRY the fruit bars… its that good that I always leave with at least 3 dozen to bring back across the bridge back to the east bay. YUM!

South San Francisco is no longer the «hush-​hush» sister of San Francisco. She is up and coming. And coming super busy she has been! … And what a fantastic find to walk on Grand Avenue to find an authentic Italian bakery. I was told that SSF is home to a large population of Italians. Thank goodness, and thank goodness Galli for your outstanding Cannoli! I had been devouring so much Asian food that I had missed so much of my Italian pastries.
Great service, great selections, and a generation of Italian love bakery! A must visit for sure especially if anything, get CANNOLI! It is phenomenally, outstandingly… delicious!
