I heard good things about Eggettes from a friend and gai daan jai shops are becoming more and more popular in NYC, and were already pretty established at in LA Hong Kong restaurants as a dessert. Maybe I’m nostalgic but it’s a little unfortunate that more shops are popping up being run by kids, as opposed to the hustle of old men and women who run the $ 1 street-carts. These shops charge around $ 3.50 — $ 4.00 for a single waffle which may seem like quite a bit of a price hike growing up paying $ 1 for 20 eggettes(now it’s more akin to $ 2 for 20, thanks Obama). Eggettes is no different, as a single skillet of regular eggettes will run you $ 3.50. No complaints there on price, as that seems to be the norm now anyway. They serve it in a paper bag with holes in it, which prevents the steam from softening the crispiness. And yes, they are crispy on the outside, with a soft and tender center. We scarfed them down in under 5 minutes to prevent them from going cold, which would have happened regardless. They tasted great as they weren’t too sweet, and had enough vanilla flavoring. We also got a regular milk tea with bubbles. The milk tea had a perfect tea flavor, and wasn’t overly watered down, with the right amount of milk. I actually would go back just for the milk tea. I would skip the bubbles however, as they felt a little stale, and rubbery, probably having been left out too long, or reused. If you’re in the area I would definitely stop by, although it’s in what seemed to be a pretty secluded residential area.

This Eggettes is pretty run down compared to their Millbrae counterpart. The walls could use new paint(probably could a few years ago), but despite it lacking in facilities, everything is pretty much the same. I actually think it’s about a quarter cheaper for the menu items here, and parking is decent too. Just be aware that it will be packed with south city high kids after school. If you want to avoid that rush, head to the Millbrae location a couple miles away. Drinks are customized, and eggettes come out hot. Not much else to say.

I have never seen a portion of popcorn chicken this small…$ 3.50 for this? No way! The curry fishballs only has color but no taste… Won’t recommend any snacks other than eggettes…

I love coming here and getting their peach green tea with boba. They have actual pieces of peaches in their tea. I also love their honeydew eggettes & coconut eggettes there’s a subtle hint of the flavor and is not too over powering.

Remember the days of logging onto their«café» computers and finding out another person hasn’t logged off their myspace? LOL. Unfortunately(or rather, fortunately?) those days are over since everyone carries a smart phone with them nowadays. But I digress. [ FOOD ] Eggette’s receipt is coupon that starts the day after your purchase and is valid for. 7 days? Get $ 0.50 off, I think? I’m doing all of this from memory. I usually get a taro slush because I feel like the tea flavor in the milk tea is too strong for me. Their boba is usually always a good consistency!!! The actual eggettes are also very good. The quality varies, depending on if the person working there is new at making the waffle-y deliciousness, or if the batter is good. The upgrade to a larger size is $.0.75 now! It used to be $ 0.50. Oh the tough times we live in. :P [ SERVICE ] The people who work there are super chill and sometimes you can see the owner parked outside. His license plate is EGGETTES, or something along those lines.

I’ve only been here once. The place is big with few tables that fill up fast with customers waiting for their drinks. It was super busy that as soon as we walked in I already expected a long wait. She got a taro and I got a mango freeze and a chocolate eggettes. The drinks were good and even more was the chocolate eggettes. I regret not buying a flavor of each because I didn’t think I would like them. Its definitely worth coming to Eggettes for the Eggettes. I’ll have to pay Eggettes another visit for the original and coconut eggettes. I also came across a picture of a honeydew eggettes that was uploaded over two years ago. I wonder if it was part of the menu and got taken off because it might of not been selling. I’ve never been a big fan of quickly but I’d go for Eggettes any time over quickly.

All regular sized drinks on the menu range $ 2.5-$ 3! It’s a steal now that most boba shops easily charge over four dollars. They have a fruity assortment of juices, milk tea, green tea, and blended drinks. Also specialize in their HK style milk tea. Can be served hot or cold. The lychee milk tea has niblets of lychee fruit.(Canned, not fresh. But better than none.) Drinks are prepped fairly quickly, but orders of eggettes are backed up very easily. Took us around 25 minutes to get our eggettes. By then they were cold and not very crunchy anymore. Flavors come in original, chocolate, and coconut. Unfortunately I prefer the SF sunset location. There the eggettes are much crispier on the outside and soft n chewy on the inside.

Okay, so I finally tried a few more of their boba drinks and I think it gives them an additional star. Today my mom and I had the inkling for boba(okay mostly me and I dragged her along), she ordered the lychee freeze and I had the fresh taro milk tea. UH-MAZE-ING. I actually enjoyed the lychee freeze A LOT. It was fresh tasting and not too sweet — literally tasted as if they blended fresh lychees and ice. The taro milk tea was tasty but a little bit too much tea-y for me. It did, however, have LOADS of bits of taro which is a big plus! Since we were there and hadn’t had lunch yet, we also ordered two of the eggettes — one chocolate and one vanilla. I’ve decided that I will no longer order the chocolate anymore. it’s too strong of a flavor and will definitely stick with the delicious vanilla. We also had one order of the fish balls and the owner was kind enough to mention we can do the curry on the side since moms isn’t a fan of curry. The owner served us himself and everything was delicious — definitely will be on my list of go-to boba spots with their amazing customer service and quality drinks and snacks.

After my girlfriend and I go to Ben Tre on Grand Avenue in San Bruno, we always come to this eggettes. It makes for one of my favorite easy going date nights and hopefully one of hers too ;) the original eggettes are always good here while their boba is on par. I’d stay away from their fruity drinks. They tend to use real frozen fruit in their drinks and while the concept is nice… it doesn’t taste that great. Their milk teas are good though and they’re nice enough to adjust the sweetness when asked. We’ll be coming back as long as they’re open.
