My kids love that place as they go there for basketball, after school care and summer camp. Very friendly staff and extremely affordable. One suggestion though. It could be very stuffy in there. I suggest that they do something to improve the airflow in there.

The Boys and Girls Club(Orange Park) management decided last Tuesday(August 4, 2015) to take away the 2nd floor dojo from the volunteers who run the Judo Club for 30 years. Apparently, B&G club has stopped advertising for their Judo program. Attendance dropped as a result. With this, management justified taking over the space to make a nice office for their newly hired manager. Immediately that week, classes were no longer held. This is a sad time for those who loves the South City fixture. Since the aforementioned Judo Club volunteers organize the B&G Judo tournament, all tournaments, including the one in September, are cancelled. Many of South City’s children were introduced to the gentle art of Judo and other martial arts through the help of Sensei Randy and his team– who are all volunteers. Another community and non-profit will surely benefit from the B&G Club decision to ax the 30 year old program in such short notice and in such distasteful manner. They could not even wait until the August 30th year end deadline. In my opinion, for a non-profit that supposedly promotes volunteerism in the community, the B&G Club’s move was ironic and in bad form.

What a great place for kids to hang out. It’s close to Orange Park & Pool. The B&G Club on West Orange in SSF is currently raising some money to put in a volleyball court. Watching the kids practice gets me tired. Drills!!!
