My container departed from Oakland USOAK on the CAPPORTLAND537S on September 14 and arrived at Manzanillo/Mexico MXZLO on September 19. My container *should have* left Mexico on the SANTAROSA535E on September 21. However, Track & Trace shows it left Mexico on the SANTABARBARA536E on September 28(7 days later) instead. I was told by Hamburg Sud to contact AA Cargo directly to find out why this happened, or why AA Cargo booked my container on this schedule, causing my container to unnecessarily languish in Mexico for 9DAYS, rather than ship immediately like it should have. I have contacted them and will update this review after I get a response.

I wish I could give less than 1 star. I used this service to send my puppy from San Francisco to Boston. She is just big enough that I couldn’t carry her on board and options to send your pet as freight are slim, so I didn’t have much of a choice. Initially, I thought that AA Cargo was doing well. I was a bit irked that representatives I spoke with over the phone were giving me different information than those I was corresponding with via email, but I still managed(relatively easily) to book travel plans that worked well with my schedule. Customer service was great leading up to the flight and the drop off at SFO went smoothly. I went to bed easy expecting that I would wake up to a call from my girlfriend after she had picked up our puppy. Instead, I woke up to a call from my girlfriend crying hysterically, saying that our puppy hadn’t been on the flight that arrived in Boston(even though her tracking # that AA provided said that she was) and AA Cargo didn’t know where she was. To have to tell a customer something like that is one thing. To not tell her until she’s been waiting patiently in the cargo terminal for over two hours is another thing. But, to not have ANY information on the pet’s status at that point is completely unacceptable. I imagine it will be awhile before my partner and I are able to tease out exactly what went wrong with our pet’s shipment(conveniently, AA Cargo doesn’t have a customer service phone number), but it is already obvious that human incompetence and miscommunication were involved every step of the way. Never use this service to ship your pet. Seriously. Never.
