Came here with low expectations and they weren’t even met. This could be a terrific place for short walks but it’s obviously bottom on the priority list of the County Executive Steven Bellone. Actually, the sign bearing his name is the one thing here that’s been meticulously maintained. The main footbridge that completes the 360° walk around the pond is a total wreck. From what I can tell, from other pictures posted on Pinterest and elsewhere, it’s been an eyesore for a long time. The County can and should do a better job maintaining this hidden gem.

As Christie implied, the saddest thing in life is wasted [potential]. CBCP is your classic case of nature doing its part and humanity dropping the proverbial ball.

This is a beautiful although isolated lake with a nature trail around it(about .7 miles). The trail is quite overgrown and it’s impossible not to brush up against leaves and branches. The lake is largely covered in lily pads. There was a great blue heron hanging out when I went who didn’t seem to mind my presence. The bridge at the south end of the lake is a little dilapidated and there are a couple boards which are in need of replacement; in other words– be careful on this bridge or you may fall thru! This could be a great park but it has been neglected, there’s no facilities, a nondescript«parking area» and overall it is totally under-maintained.
