So glad I found a place where they sell natas! 1.50 each, it was delicious. Need to find out when they come out fresh-I warmed mine up on a microwave just so I can enjoy the warm gooey dessert. Would recommend!

I’m so glad I found this place. Great food and deserts. I got chicken and ribs and I’ll be back every chance I can.

Friendly and typical Portuguese place. Probably would consider it to be one of the best hidden jewels in South river. Parking will be tough in late afternoon but morning is fine.

Been there twice and got the same pastry(some sort of round light fried dough with a cream spread in the middle with powered sugar on top) which has been great. Other pastries look good as well. Not too bad of a place to sit down and have a coffee either, but I am always stopping in on my way to work. Worth checking out if you can find it(basically at the end of the main drag in South River).

awesome little Portuguese café, I felt like I had stepped foot in a simple low cost café in Lisboa when I walked in the door. They have a daily menu of economical Portuguese dishes, pasteis de Belem and assorted other delicious Portuguese pastries(well I tried the pasteis de Belem, which are Portuguese custard tarts, and they were tasted like the ones I had in Portugal), fantastic espresso, a variety of bottled Portuguese and Brazilian non-alociholic drinks. The interior is very clean and pleasant, and there are two TVs tuned to Portuguese TV channels.(well actualy one had RTP International from Portugal on with the volume up and the other had a Brazilian soccer game on a Brazilian channel.) If I lived in South River I would come here every day, as it is living a couple towns away I am sure I will be a frequent visitor in the future. BTW, I believe this place is cash only

A very good café and bakery which I’ve been to several times. They have a wide selection of cakes and pastries to choose from, and it is one of the best places to get an espresso in central New Jersey(although I have noticed a difference in quality depending on which of the hostesses are making it). The pastel de nata are quite good and are my normal go-to as a side for my coffee. They also have some salty foods to choose from which are tasty and keep well. I enjoy stopping by and picking some up on my way to the coast for so that I have can have a quick snack on the beach. Sometimes the small café can be overrun with people and families with small children, which can get rather loud — but that has been fairly rare and doesn’t hurt a quick pick-me-up too much. Overall, a very good and affordable stop for a great espresso and a cake!
